Chapter 82 - Chapter 82 - Suspicious Meat

Third person POV

"Wild aswangs…" Hoshi said while he and his friends are processing this new fact about the aswangs.

"We had taken care of one in Pampanga…" Taro added.

"Oh, you did?" the young man replied.

"Yeah, once po, sir," Hoshi responded.

"Ah, okay, what that aswang did."

"That one killed farm animals, sir," Bokuto responded back.

"Wow, rough…I feel bad for their owners."

"Yes, but we vanquished it," Sha replied briefly and calmly, "and that community was now safe again."

"Oh…hmm…well…I have a question for you guys."

 "What is it?" Hoshi asked.

The young man who was a Good Aswang, Leonardo Baquiran, then pulled out his smartphone, searched for a video on news taken place in Minalin, Pampanga yesterday, and played it to them. They were shocked that he knew it and remembered that news outlet did cover it. "Woah!" Taro was surprised. "It was us!"

"Oh, is that so?" Leonardo replied.

Sha then nodded.

Pausing the video and putting his phone down, Leonardo replied, "I see then. Nice job there, guys. You guys are heroes."

"Yeah, salamat po…" Hoshi replied while feeling a bit flustered by his compliment.

"Woah, you can speak in Tagalog, too?" Leonardo was a bit stunned.

"Yes, I am a Japanese Filipino po."

"Yes, he is, sir," Sha replied.

"Wow…what's your name, kid?" Leonardo said to Hoshi.

"I'm Hoshi Carmen Takada-Santos of Nara City, Japan," replied Hoshi back positively,

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Hoshi. I'm Leonardo Baquiran, and I am an owner of a small bar here in Baguio City."

Sha, Bokuto, and Taro said their introductions of themselves to Leonardo, who then responded accordingly.

Thankfully, Leonardo knows some Japanese for basic communication.

After that, Leonardo said to them, "Okay, with that out of the way, do you want to grab a quick lunch? I know a few eateries in this area." Hoshi and the others agreed with him, only if they bring the rest of their group with them. Leonardo then agreed with them. And so, all of them searched for the rest of Hoshi's group, who were just browsing in a nearby street market. After that, Leonardo introduced himself to them and offered for a meal at a restaurant somewhere in the district. Though they only knew him for just a couple of seconds, Mariya and the others agreed, and all of them went to a nearby eatery just a couple of meters from that stand that sells clothes. There all of them looked around the small space. The eatery, called the Karne Kalye, was a small-time business run by a family called the Bacunawa Family, who was a seemingly ordinary family of urban Baguio City. Their home was in the back of the eatery and in the second and third floors of the 5-storey multipurpose building.

After scouring the place, all of them decided to eat a quick, late lunch here and sat down in 2 tables, which were for 6 each. And then, a waiter came down, gave a nice greeting, and handed out 4 menus containing the eatery's menu. After that waiter left off, all of them grabbed the menus and started browsing what they want for lunch. The selections were decent, and the food and drinks seemed to be of a decent, cheap quality. And so, all of them went for a meal of cheeseburgers, French Fries, and slices of fried pork chops with small servings of rice and included drinks of water. With these in mind, Leonardo called a waiter to their tables, and a waitress came. He and Sha, with the assistance of Mariya and Hoshi, had their orders listed down, and the waitress did so, before saying to them, "Your order will be served in 20 minutes."

She then hurriedly left off to the kitchen as Hoshi and the others waited for their order to be finished cooking.

20 minutes came, and their order came hot and looked like what they were depicted on the menus. And so, all of them did a prayer gesture (that includes Leonardo because he learns it from someone who lived in Japan) and ate up. But, after a few bites, the first signs of the meat being suspicious and tasted odd were noticed by Taro, Hoshi, and Bokuto. This was followed by Rei, Sha, and Leonardo, who found it gross and different from typical pork meat. These are not even chicken or any other safe animal meat substitute, too. What are these made of exactly?
