XADEN'S POV
Xaden sank to his feet, barely able to breathe the moment the Omegas ran off.
He scrambled around the room on all fours like a rat until he found his bottle of rum lying under some rubble.
He pushed it to his lips and gulped it down miserably.
He finished the bottle almost immediately and shook it for more.
None came out.
He angrily tossed it at the already broken window and it shattered into a million pieces.
He sat completely still as his chest rose and fell heavily.
His fists tightened in anger by his side.
Memories of Jasmine flashed through his head and he began to feel the pain.
He saw her smile.
Saw how she had walked gracefully in the pack.
How her heart had been kind.
How she had fought everything.
How she had surrendered her life for him.
His mate.
The woman he had fallen in love with.
The woman he had failed to protect all these while.
He closed his eyes.
Jasmine.
He missed her.
God, he missed her.
