His delayed action gave the wolf rider enough time to call for backup.

"I should have calculated my inexperience in combat," Alex thought.

Emily's spear pierced the goblin soldier's chest and tore a hole straight through his body.

She dropped the spear, pulled out two submachine guns, and fired short bursts at the remaining goblins.

Brrrrrr.

Each shot used specialized bullets strengthened with mana. They were powerful but expensive.

Emily usually avoided using them carelessly. She always tried to make sure each dungeon run stayed profitable.

But this time Alex had supplied the ammunition, so she did not hold back.

The bullets tore through goblin bodies and sent them flying like sandbags.

Sensing danger, the goblins did not even try to use their abilities. They turned and ran.

Rumble. Rumble.

Emily turned her gaze to the herd of wolves rushing toward them.

With a sigh, she asked through their telepathic link, "What now, big bro?"
