Chapter 78 - Nurse Yuki~

Back at the house, Lucy seemed to have woken up as well by now. She was in the middle of opening the door as Yuki was entering through said door.

"…Going somewhere?"

"Ah, I was about to go look for you. Where were you?"

"Just taking a walk since I was the only one awake. Found some trash outside, can you believe it? People throw everything into nature these days."

"Ah, I guess I was worried for no reason then. I'm glad."

"Why, where does that sudden care come from…"

"Well, we will be traveling together from now on. I only really know Yamato, so I think it's important that we two build up a friendship as well!"

"…Right…"

"She does not know him! Only I do! But alright… I guess she's right. If I understand her motives a little better I can also estimate how much we really need her. Can't hurt to know some dark secrets about her either, in case I ever want to get rid of her with Masters approval."

Yuki went towards the kitchen side of the room, preparing breakfast since Lucy was now awake and she felt like Yamato would wake up soon. She had quite the accurate sixth sense for that, which really was not much of a surprise.

"I agree, you should totally tell me all about yourself."

"Oh, uh… Just like that? Okay… Well, my favorite color is blue. I like plants a lot, not just flowers but all sorts of plants. I just turned 18 and lived my whole life-"

"-Alright, that's no way to get to know someone. You could just write all that stuff down and I'd know you just as good reading that. What I wanna hear is how yoh feel right now, with this situation."

"Uh… How I feel? I'm sorry, I don't really understand…"

"Well, first you tried to kill Yamato to rescue me, an angel, while being under orders of another angel, my sister, but then were convinced that was not the right thing to do and then fought against said angel that was my sister. Well, actually I did you fought against some priest who was also there I guess… Anyway, after killing him together with Yamato you decided to come with us since we suddenly decided to drop out and go into the middle of nowhere.

Which makes me wonder what you think about all that."

"If you put it like that… I guess I just want feel like I belong somewhere? Yamato made me feel like that would be with him."

"Uh huh…"

"Ah, not like that! I have no intention of competing with you for him, really!"

"Good girl. Anyway, I guess I understand that… Ah, I don't know if he already told you, but we keep the fact that I'm an angel a secret from everyone else. So don't go on calling me out when we are in public."

"I spied on you for a bit, I kinda noticed that no one was worshipping you but rather treat you normally, so I figured that already. I don't quite get why though…"

"I don't question his choices, it doesn't bother me anyway. He's the only one to deserve knowing my identity anyway~"

"I know too though…"

"…"

"…"

"Anyway, can you look after the food while I go check on him. He usually wakes up earlier."

"Sure, leave it to me…"

As Yuki closed the door behind her, Lucy let out a deep sigh of relief. Talking to an angel face to face was a big deal after all, and not everyone was as casual about it as Yamato. So naturally, Lucy had been very nervous throughout this entire conversation.

As Yuki entered the bedroom, she noticed Yamato was must have moved around quite a bit, since the bed was all messy now.

"Master, it's morning already~"

Since there was no reaction, she sat down next to him on the bed and leaned over towards him to look if he was really still asleep.

"Am I being ignored or are you super sleepy~? Huh…"

As she poked his face for fun, she noticed his temperature was extremely hot, at which she quickly got up to get a wet towel.

"Wait for me, Master! I will be right back."

Rushing past Lucy and back, she returned with a wet towel and a glass of water. She placed the towel on his forehead and caressed his cheek as she sat down next to him again.

"Getting sick all of the sudden, really… Scaring me to death like that is very mean."

"…Pft… Being sick is about as neutral of an state as it gets… If anything, I'm the victim here…"

Though his voice was but a quiet whisper, Yuki was relieved to hear his voice, even if it was joking, which relieved her even more. She matched her own voice his in tone.

"Well, at least you are awake now… I'm sure you over-overdid it during that last exam… "

"Yeah, I guess… I was actually surprised that I didn't get sick the next day…"

"Well, you were hardly left enough time to rest until now…"

"Whose fault was that, huh…"

"Only a little bit mine… Maybe 2%, the rest was my sister's and Lucy's fault."

"I wasn't even talking about the exam anymore…"

"I know but shhh~"

Just as the mood had lightened up a bit, Yuki remembered what happened outside the house the last night.

"Master, I don't think it's safe to stay here for much longer… But considering your condition, I don't think we can go right away either…"

"You don't think it's safe? How so?"

"Well it's not like I can't handle it… Of course I can! But what if what you have is something serious… What if it won't go away on its own? I believe it would be best to find a doctor. Though I have medical experience, I am unfamiliar with the illnesses of this world."

"Ah… How responsible… Yeah, I think that would be best…"

The coughing which every now and then interrupted his sentence only made her worry more. That's when she began thinking about possible solutions.

"Alright… What do we know of our position? We are north of Lunis, which is in the east of the elven empire whatever their name was… This forest had some sort of weak monster in it which Iky was able to take care of with relative ease, or at least I couldn't tell if he had problems… Besides that helmet and sword, which imply someone else has been here. According to the amount of blood on the ground, maybe three people? A small group, maybe adventures or something… What were they doing here in the first place? Here is literally nothing except… Whatever it was that attacked us! If so, then either they were passing by or this was their goal. Urgh… If they were still alive, I could ask them, of course. But I don't think Iky let anyone escape, so looking for survivors would be pointless… Either way, they would have to come from somewhere, right? Since the quality of the sword was good, I will assume they weren't complete beginners. So it would make sense for them to not come from or to a village, if their goal was work oriented, but rather a bigger thing like a town. If they had supplies Iky ate them too, I suppose. So there is no way of telling the distance based on that. However if we look around the forest we might be able to backtrack their path and find wherever they came from in hopes of finding a doctor. It's a stretch but choice do we have? I should ask Lucy if she can search while I stay with Yamato."

"I will be gone for just a minute, Master! Be careful while I'm gone and don't move a muscle, or I will have to tie you to the bed for your own safety!"

"I think I will manage…"

She suddenly burst into tears as she clung to him.

"…Waaaaaaaaah, Master, you are so brave, I'm so proud… I'll be back as soon as possible, I promise!"

"Alright…? I feel like you suffer more from this than I do…"

"Stay strong, Master! I shall hurry and explain the situation to Lucy!"

She declared as she ran out the door where Lucy was already pressed against as she tried to listen in on the conversation. Though through Yuki abruptly opening the door in her face, she was pushed to the ground.

"Lucy, what are you doing on the ground?! This is an emergency, not a drill, I repeat NOT A DRILL!"

"Wha- calm down, I don't understand! You ran around earlier and I heard crying just now, is everything alright?"

"Nothing's alright, obviously! Yamato is very sick, and I need you to go outside and backtrack from the blood outside from where the three people that were here last night came from!"

"Uh, wha… Three people, blood? Are they okay??"

"No, all dead, now quick, every second counts! Can you do it or not?!"

"I-… Okay, yeah I can try."

Confused and rushed she ran out of the house and began her investigation, while Yuki just calmly walked back into the bedroom.

"I'm back, Master!"

"That was less than a minute… You cried so much over nothing. And what waa that commotion about? You mentioned blood and-"

"-Nuh! You are under bed-arrest with body and thoughts!"

"What?"

"You heard me! Worrying about things completely irrelevant the betterment of your condition is strictly forbidden!"

"…Who came up with that?"

"I did!"

"Ah, of course…"

"How are you supposed to rest if all you think about is the outside world where you can't be right now?! It will only stress you out."

"I guess that's a little true… Still, I don't think it will have a drastic effect on-"

"Nuh! I have spoken!"

"…Pft, you have?"

"Don't laugh at me! It is also only stressing you out! Best you do nothing and relax and forget about everything but me and my soothing presence! To help you with that I give physical support!"

She suddenly crawled on the bed and lifted his head so she could sit on his pillow and let his head instead fall into her soft embrace, where she leaned forward to have eye contact. Now she could supervise his recovery fully.

"Shh… Leave it all to me… Close your eyes, wnd relax…"

Her hair brushed over his face as she leaned further over his head but she brushed it aside, using it as an excuse to cup his face and keep her hands there for now.

"You'll feel better soon… I will make sure. While it's just us, I'm gonna tell you a story I thought of this morning! And then we get rid of Lucy together…"

"Hm… What was the last part again…"

"I said you get sleepy… and relax… and feel better…"
