However, facing Batman, he naturally couldn't say that. Although he thought Batman would understand why he forged artifacts, he showed his value naturally to continuously gain the protection of the Justice League.
Moreover, Batman told him that this clue came from Shiller. Since Shiller also participated in making the artifacts, maybe he mixed in some private goods. So, Dr. Hall quickly came before Frenes Snake and began his research.
On the surface, nothing would come out of the research. Dr. Hall asked Batman to use the scanner, but nothing came up. Seeing Batman looking so convinced, Dr. Hall thought for a moment and said, "Maybe it's not about the artifact itself, but rather the events from that period."
"What happened during that period?"
"In later generations, Tutankhamun is seen as a pharaoh with a heavy mysticism touch. However, due to his short reign, his contributions to Ancient Egyptian civilization were limited. Yet I have indeed heard of a legend from Tutankhamun's era."
"What legend?"
"This is a secret of the Egyptian court, I'm not sure if it's true. In short, during Tutankhamun's era, in the desert, there was a mysterious glass city. People there lived in crystal-like splendid palaces. The queen of this city was called Nada. But one day, she fell in love with a traveler named 'Dream.' But their love was destined to be a beautiful illusion. After Nada followed Dream to his kingdom, the glass city was destroyed by a fireball from the sky and vanished ever since."
Primary Universe Batman immediately realized, this so-called "dream traveler" was very likely the Sleep Demon. Queen Nada once had an affair with him. However, this was all thousands of years ago, Nada was probably long dead, how could she know the whereabouts of the Sleep Demon?
"Wait a minute," Primary Universe Batman discovered the most crucial point in this story—"The queen had been to Dreamland?"
"Yes, in the rumors, she endured hardships to reach Dream's kingdom. Ultimately, in a palace, she met her long-awaited lover. But after their affair, the glass city was destroyed. The queen realized this might have been caused by her union with Dream, so she returned to Egypt and jumped off a cliff to kill herself."
"Palace..." Primary Universe Batman whispered the word, "The queen must have gone directly to the Sleep Demon's house. This means she, like Lucifer and Constantine, knows the specific address of the Sleep Demon."
"Did she leave anything behind?" Primary Universe Batman asked, "Like murals or text or something..."
Hall thought for a moment and said, "There aren't many places with cliffs in Egypt, most of them are by the sea. Maybe before she died, she left something behind there..."
"Hurgada." Wonder Woman slapped her forehead, "I'll call Deathstroke. By the way, I offered him a good price..."
Batman gave her a "I'm super rich" look, and Wonder Woman confidently went to arrange the task. It didn't take long before Deathstroke replied. He said, "There is indeed a cliff on the northern coast of Hurgada, small but it could kill someone. I searched around but didn't find any body remains. However, there is a rocky area nearby by the sea, and I saw some marks on it, not sure if it's text..."
Deathstroke took many photos. Hall picked up those photos, nodded, and said, "Indeed, they are Ancient Egyptian texts, just split the shapes apart. Let me see... Oh, this is a love poem... 'In a graveyard filled with flowers... a dreamscape full of fairies and sprites, bees buzzing, permeated with the scent of citrus and rosemary...'
"What?" Primary Universe Batman responded bluntly.
"I know it's very abstract. But I don't mean for you to use these clues to search." Hall removed a talisman from his neck, saying, "When in love with Dream, Nada must have left something in the palace. She is a person of Ancient Egypt, and this is an Ancient Egyptian sacred object, the Holy Beetle Talisman. Follow the talisman's aura, and you should be able to find the Dream God's palace."
"Thank you," Primary Universe Batman said sincerely, "You've been a big help."
Then he turned to Wonder Woman and said, "Double Deathstroke's pay, make sure he protects Dr. Hall well. We'll be back soon."
Soon they returned to the High Tower. This time Batman personally took action, bringing Charles, using Ancient Egyptian treasures to search for the Dream God's palace. This wasn't easy either, but much better than aimlessly wandering before.
When Batman returned, Shiller knew that this method had worked. Actually, it wasn't something he set up in advance, but the entire love story was a plot from the "Sleep Demon" comic.
Nada was the lover of Sleep Demon Morpheus, and also the fuse that worsened his relationship with Lucifer. After Nada's death, she didn't ascend to Heaven but was imprisoned in Hell. When Morpheus returned to his family, speaking to existence like Destiny and Death, he was mocked for "sending his lover to Hell." Morpheus was very angry, but he felt indeed he was wrong, shouldn't have let Nada run back to commit suicide. So he went to Hell, fought with Lucifer, and made Lucifer release Nada.
But clearly, Lucifer tricked Morpheus. Seeming to lose the fight, he deliberately emptied Hell and handed over the key to Morpheus, just to watch him struggle to handle those who vied for Hell.
After seeing Morpheus, Nada slapped him. The two completely fell out, Nada didn't want to follow him back at all. Morpheus could only send her to reincarnation. They parted completely, Nada never appeared again.
Shiller thought, Morpheus not willing to be Dream God later might relate to this unpleasant emotional experience. And also because of this, he and Lucifer couldn't peacefully coexist at all.
"The Sleep Demon is awake," Batman's voice faintly echoed, "But he asked us to do something for him. Otherwise, he won't help us clean up Dreamland."
"I really don't get it, isn't the Kingdom of Dreams his own home?" Strange said somewhat irritably. "Is he just going to watch as his home gets thrown into chaos?"
"Apparently, he's not in a good mood," Charles said.
"I think anyone woken up in such a violent manner would be in a bad mood," Superman said. "I've long told you, things are different here compared to where you are. Do you have to start with a punch..."
"Just tell me if he's awake!" Strange said, disgruntled. "The demons here have quite the temper. Didn't my punch not even bother him?"
"What's he really up to?" Wonder Woman asked. "He won't have us go into the Egyptian Pharaoh's Tomb again to find something, will he?"
"You've hit the nail on the head," Batman said. "But it's not about going into the tomb; it's about finding a living person—his past lover, the resurrected Nada."
"Isn't there a lot of resurrected people lately?" Big Adventure Batman couldn't help but say. "Can anyone give me the backstory?"
The Prime Universe Batman looked up at Shiller. Greed snapped his fingers, and a globe of light flew out from the memory bank and into everyone's spirit bodies. Soon, they were all caught up on the gossip involving the dream god.
"Good heavens," Big Adventure Batman said after reviewing it, "Doesn't it seem audacious to have us go searching for someone? Is there even a normal person in the world?"
"Could that fireball be his doing?" Wonder Woman was clearly more cautious, "Destroying his lover's nation on purpose just to keep her by his side..."
"You've really watched a lot," Superman said incredulously.
"I don't think it is," Batman said. "When Nada expressed a desire to return, Morpheus still let her go. If Morpheus were behind it, he wouldn't have needed to let Nada go back."
"What's Lucifer up to?" Wonder Woman couldn't hold back a comment. "Why is he keeping Nada trapped in Hell? Is he crazy?"
"That was likely not on purpose," Shiller said. "Hell was a complete mess at that time."
"Then let me ask you," Batman looked up at him. "Why was Hell in such chaos?"
"Mind your business," Shiller evaded the topic. "So are you all going to find the person?"
"Hell no!" Strange cursed. "These demons are bored out of their minds. Can we stop talking about this?!"
They had quite the discussion. Ultimately, they decided they still had to find Lucifer, as he's genuinely at the root of the matter. However, Lucifer was occupied with sealing a hole and obviously couldn't go to the Sleep Demon.
The Batmen conferred and eventually came up with the perfect solution—have Lucifer come down and let Bruce take his place.
Both of them were archangels. Although Bruce was not as strong as Lucifer, he was still an angel, so sealing a hole wouldn't be much trouble for him. As long as he was idle, they might as well have him pay for his behavior rather than let him endanger the Multiverse.
Bruce was indeed thinking about running away. However, his actions had definitely offended many this time, and the off-duty Alliance didn't stand by him anymore. Thus, he was unfortunately captured and successfully hung on the Origin Wall, sealing the hole. As for when he could come down, it would depend on Batman finding a way to completely close the gap.
Arrogance received this news in the High Tower. Surprisingly, this time he finally decided not to bail out his failed student. It wasn't that he was unable, but rather acknowledging his own fault.
Previously using Earth to engage Apocalypse Domain, inciting Darkseid and Black Death Land to attack each other, was considered normal resistance. But crashing into the Origin Wall with everyone was indeed a bit outrageous.
Especially when Anatoli, Lucifer, and Batman were all involved. It was tantamount to saving a student who consistently scored 58 in exams. During the graduation defense, when the principal, department head, and industry leaders were all present, the prerequisite for the mentor to debate was that the one standing above had to be a human—Husky didn't count.
Lucifer himself was originally called over and didn't intend to talk. He never got along with Morpheus. However, Anatoli was nearby, and Nada happened to be part of his infamous past in Hell. Reluctantly, Lucifer went anyway.
Who knows how the two talked it out. Anyway, Morpheus reluctantly stepped out and tidied up the Kingdom of Dreams. Despite the considerable power left behind by Black Death Emperor, it could not challenge Morpheus. The Kingdom of Dreams soon returned to peace.
Thus, the aftermath finally settled. Although it appeared to be a Multiverse-level disaster initiated by the Black Death Emperor, in reality, Deathstroke and Joseph, Lucifer and Anatoli, Morpheus and Nada—it was "just a large prime-time family drama," according to the agent.
