Chapter 217: The War God's Invitation!
(PS: Long time no see guys! >.< I finally have some free time to continue this.)
[Please select your faction.]
Luke looked at the options on the panel and fell into thought.
Unlike when he entered the dungeon world, where the options included countless familias both from and outside the original story, this time the options were similar to when he started in the Asterisk world, with only a few school names listed.
[Hagun Academy]
[Bukyoku Academy]
[Donrou Academy]
[Kyomon Academy]
[Rentei Academy]
[Rokuson Academy]
[Bunkyoku Academy]
[Akatsuki Academy]
Among these eight options, Luke only recognized Hagun Academy, where the original story's protagonist attended.
Compared to previous worlds, Luke wasn't very familiar with the franchise "Chivalry of a Failed Knight."
He had only watched the anime and knew some information revealed in others' discussions in forums, but hadn't read the so-called novels in detail.
So, when it came to choosing a faction, Luke didn't hesitate much.
"Select, Hagun Academy."
He directly chose the only faction he was familiar with.
Not only because of familiarity, but also because in Luke's limited knowledge, this world's male and female protagonists quite "attracted" his interest.

...
Blazers.
They were special individuals who could manifest their souls as "Device" weapons and manipulate magical powers, appearing only once in a thousand people.
A Blazer's abilities couldn't be explained by current scientific technology. The powerful ones could manipulate space-time or reverse causality, while even the weaker ones could enhance their physical abilities far beyond normal human limits.
This was a miraculous power that transcended ordinary humans from birth, a supernatural force that neither martial arts nor weapons could match.
Because of this, all armed forces and conflicts in this world were built upon the power of Blazers.
But great power comes with danger and chaos.
The 'Mage-Knight System' was one of the rules created to restrict these supernatural beings.
This world was also composed of many countries, with two organizations encompassing most nations known as the world's two major powers: the 'League' and the 'Union'.
If the Union was an alliance organization formed by several major countries, then the League was an alliance organization formed by countless small countries.
Essentially, the 'League', formally known as the 'International Mage-Knight League', was born to counter the 'Union'.
The 'Mage-Knight System' was a product of the 'League'.
This system stipulated that Blazers must graduate from schools recognized by the 'League', obtain certification and social status as 'Mage-Knights' before they could legally use their abilities.
Arbitrary use of abilities would be defined as 'crime' and subject to legal sanctions.
Hagun Academy was one of the seven 'Knight Schools' in the land of rising sun where one could obtain a Mage-Knight license.
And Luke was currently in the principal's office of Hagun Academy.
...
"I didn't expect you'd actually come."
Speaking to Luke was a black-haired beauty in a suit. From her pinned-up hair and the ring on her finger, one could tell she was a married woman.
She was Shinguji Kurono, the principal of Hagun Academy.
"When I received Teacher Nangou's call, I thought he was joking with me."
"Well, regardless, I'm grateful you accepted his invitation to come to our Hagun Academy."
'I see, so it was War God Nangou's invitation...'
Luke had directly appeared in this room.
Moreover, perhaps due to the 'Identity Implant Card', his identity was so detailed that he could only manage a rough overview given the time constraints.
Fortunately, the principal opposite him explained why he was here.
However, Shinguji Kurono was no ordinary person.
As a participant in the KOK, one of the world's top competitions.
Ranked third in the original story, even though she had retired due to marriage, her skills hadn't deteriorated at all.
Principal Kurono immediately noticed Luke's hesitation and asked:
"What's wrong? Don't you know the details of this invitation?"
Hearing the Principal's question, Luke paused for a moment.
But then he thought that since he'd been found out, it would be better to be honest rather than evasive.
After all, the background identity implanted by the Main God Space shouldn't have any loopholes, so he wouldn't be suspected.
So Luke spoke with a slightly embarrassed expression: "Uh... yeah... I really don't know."
"Sigh..."
Principal Kurono looked at the boy somewhat speechlessly.
She picked up the cigarette box on her desk, took out a lady's cigarette, lit it, took a deep drag, and then said to the boy:
"I don't know whether to say you're missing a screw or just too carefree."
"Can you make such important decisions without fully understanding them?"
"Really... well, it's good news for me anyway..."
Seeming too weary to criticize further, Principal Kurono looked at Luke with a peculiar gaze.
"Since that's the case, let me explain the situation to you."
"'War God' Nangou Torajirou - surely you've heard this name."
"Teacher Nangou once won a championship at the 'War God Cup', a world-class competition held in China."
"As one of the champion's rewards, Teacher Nangou could make one reasonable wish to the organizers."
"However, Teacher Nangou didn't have any wishes he wanted to fulfill at the time, so he chose to reserve the reward."
At this point, Principal Kurono paused, seemingly giving him time to process the information.
And Luke was very cooperative, quietly listening while checking the background information implanted by the Main God Space this time.
"Among the seven knight schools, Hagun Academy leads in everything from campus size, faculty strength, and teaching equipment to student performance."
"However, in recent years, our students' performance has been declining year by year."
"Even in the 'Seven Star Sword Art Festival', an annual event held jointly by the seven schools to select the strongest student knight, our school has suffered repeated defeats."
"My appointment as principal of Hagun Academy this year is aimed at revitalizing this declining school."
Principal Kurono gestured for the boy to look at the trophies and certificates arranged on one wall of the principal's office.
Indeed, one could see that Hagun Academy had won many championships in previous years, but in recent years, they hadn't even managed to place in the top three.
"To change the school's current situation, I've implemented many reforms since taking office."
"'Bringing in outside help' is one of them."
"I have an acquaintance who is Teacher Nangou's direct disciple and currently serves as a temporary teacher at this school."
"Through her connection, I made a request to Teacher Nangou."
"My original intention was to have Teacher Nangou help contact any willing students who would agree to come here as exchange students."
"However, that unused wish Teacher Nangou held seemed to have become a burden for the War God Cup organizers."
"So the final negotiation result was that Teacher Nangou used that wish to secure an invitation for you, the 'Fallen Star Sword Emperor', a leading figure among China's new generation."
At this point, Luke understood the situation's context, and he had also finished reading most of the background information provided by the Main God Space.
"By the way, if you don't mind telling me, what conditions did they offer to get you to agree to use up Teacher Nangou's wish?"
"As a prodigy of a major nation's new generation, the conditions that made you willing to come study in this country must have been substantial..."
Luke looked at Principal Kurono. The preferential conditions for studying abroad were indeed written in the background information.
But he couldn't claim to understand this world well enough to be certain whether these conditions were considered generous.
However, at least from the information, he could tell this wasn't confidential, and quite a few people probably knew about it.
So Luke had little reservation about telling Principal Kurono.
