The Tigrex growled as it dug its nails into the ground. It dragged its forearms, sending boulders to Eren.
He ducked, dodging the incoming boulders.
One of the boulders smashed through the nearby trees. One of them was going to fall on top of him, but Eren rolled away from the burning tree.
He looked up to see the aggressive wyvern chasing him down with its mouth wide open. Eren gritted his teeth and pushed himself up. The Tigrex bit down on the trunk of a tree and broke it with its teeth.
Eren landed back on its feet and threw a fireball at the monster. The beast flinched from the blast of the fireball before it roared.
He covered his ears from the ear-piercing scream before he started to cough.
'Shit, the smoke is getting into my lungs!'
Eren glanced around for an escape route, but the Tigrex threw another barrage of boulders.
He did a cross-arm block, and a boulder hit him, sending him crashing into some trees. Eren tried to get up, but he felt a sharp pain in his arms, falling back down on the grass.
"Fuck…" Eren muttered as he tried to get up.
Although his arms didn't seem broken, he would feel a sharp pain in his arms whenever he tried to get up. So, Eren did a quick kick up and rubbed his forearms.
'I think my forearms might be fractured,' Eren thought. ' I'll need time to heal up.'
The Tigrex was chasing after him before quickly spinning.
Eren jumped on a nearby tree, but the sharp spike on its tail cut the tree's trunk. He leaped onto another tree as the one he was on before was falling down.
He jumped from tree to tree, but the wyvern kept spinning, cutting the trunk of the tree that he would be standing on.
Eren jumped across to another tree, but the Tigrex jumped towards him.
He created a fireball the size of a basketball and threw it into the monster's mouth. The wyvern fell down and roughly heaved as Eren made his retreat deeper into the forest.
'I got to meet up with the others,' Eren thought before he lightly squeezed his left forearm. 'My forearms should be fully healed any minute now…'
Eren was grateful for his genetic mutation. Without it, he would have a lot fewer body parts than he was supposed to. Some of the other metahumans think that Eren and others like him saw it as some weird disorder or disease, but he saw it as a blessing. It gave him more opportunities for jobs and fights while he recovered faster.
Eren tapped his nose to sniff out their scents, but what he smelled was blood. Annie's blood. He remembered that he had gotten some of her blood on his hands and wiped it on his pants when he tied up one of Annie's thighs with his jacket.
He moved an index and middle finger on his pants and sniffed it, creating a trail in his path. He heard the wyvern roar,so he quickly made his way to Annie as he heard the Tigrex not too far behind him.
He looked back to see it chasing him. The striped monster was breathing heavily as smoke came out of its mouth, and the veins on its legs were glowing red.
Eren straightened his left hand and created an intense flame surrounding it, making a sort of fire blade, before he looked at a nearby tree. He swiped his hand blade against the tree, cutting the tree off its trunk.
The tree fell and landed on the top of the beast. It roared as it crazily moved its limbs, trying to escape from its tree prison. Eren chuckled as he continued to sprint away from the monster.
The improvised trap didn't last before the monster clawed its way out from under the tree. He noticed the scent of the Tigrex getting stronger, but he also noticed the blood trail getting stronger too.
'Seems like that didn't work for long...' He heard the beast crashing through the trees.
Eren ran faster as he began to cut down more trees in his path. He looked behind to see where the Tigrex was.
The beast leaped over a couple of trees, but some of the others crashed and hit the monster, roaring and flailing around under the pile.
Eren sighed in relief as he followed Krista's scent trail. He flinched in disgust as he remembered the scent of Krista's perfume. It smelled like a very strong rose water.
He knew that scent all too well. He remembered when Grace would use rose water every week to keep herself young. Eren didn't know if that was true or not, but he didn't care enough to search it up.
Eren noticed the three scent trails kept getting stronger. He sprinted as fast as he can to get back with the group. As he saw Blake within his sights, he slammed his feet into the dirt as he slid to stop his speed.
Blake twirled his staff to stop the chunks of dirt from hitting his clothes, "Oh shit, dude. You actually made it out. Where's the tigrex?"
"I trapped the monster underneath a bunch of trees," Eren checked his shoes for any damage from his sliding. "But I doubt it would hold it for so long. The thing probably escaped from it now."
Eren noticed Annie and Krista weren't here. "Wait, where are the girls?"
"Krista is trying to figure out another strategy, and Annie is trying to run despite her injury," Blake said before he sat down on the grass.
He sighed before he took off his hat, showing off the blonde hair on his head. He glanced at Eren before looking off into the distance, "Hey...Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, what's up?"
"Do you think we can advance to the next test?" Blake asked.
"What?" Eren looked at Blake.
"I mean, we have to think about Annie and her injury. If she can't fight because of her injuries, then she will have her life at risk, and I don't want people to die, dude."
Eren approached Blake and bent his knees, lowering himself down to his level to look him in the eye. "So you don't believe in Annie? You don't believe in us? That we could win this?"
"No, I wasn't saying that, I was just-"
Eren clenched his fist and grabbed Blake by his shirt, pulling him closer, "Listen here. I don't know about you, but I'm not giving up now. I managed to get this far, and I'm not going to fail and wait a year to try again because you want to start being a scaredy-cat now. So, you either grow some balls and step up or stay the fuck out of the way."
He wasn't going to wait anymore. All that training, all the pain, the blood and the sweat wasn't going to be for nothing. He was going to pass this test and become an Adventurer no matter what.
Eren pushed Blake onto the grass. He stood and began to walk away before he warned, "Because if you don't, I can't guarantee that you'll survive this."
