Chapter 3 - 8 Years Later

A young man was staring into the void, expressionless, Traveling in an ocean of darkness; the surroundings blurred with the passing of celestial bodies of all sizes. A crimson veil stained the otherwise beautiful view reflected in his eyes.

Fzzzt!

Static sounded as a male voice came over the intercom.

"Attention, passengers and crew, we will now be exiting hyperspace. Please gather all personal belongings and be ready to depart. All heavy items will be available for pickup at the cargo bay."

He could see spaceships of different sizes traveling toward a giant planet just beyond the window. Space crackled as it split apart, as more and more transport ships exited hyperspace, leaving a trail of blue particles that slowly dispersed into the surroundings.

"Young.."

"Young mas.."

As the young man stared at the familiar scene before him, his eyes glazed over as a nightmare he could never forget constantly played in his mind. A muffled voice continued to sound in his ears before he felt a subtle pressure on his shoulder.

"Young master"

Feeling the small hand on his shoulder, the young man stirred as a soft voice entered his ears.

{Pov Change- 5 Minutes Before}

Walking down a long gray corridor, a woman of about 5'9 hurried her steps as she looked down at her communicator.

'Hmm? It looks like we're about to arrive. After three months of being stuck in this tin can, we can finally leave'.

Looking up, she continued walking, the sights around her slowly changing. The distance between the rooms on either side of her steadily grew further and further away from each other as she came upon a large door.

[Noble Sector]-Authorized Personal Only-

Reading the holographic sign above the door, she pulled a golden keycard from her pocket and gave it to the two individuals standing guard.

Beep! [Access Verified]

A robotic voice sounded as the guard scanned the keycard. Looking at the picture of a young woman with long white hair and golden-colored eyes, he matched it with the woman in front of him and handed it back.

Continuing on her way, she came upon a large lounge with people sparsely spread throughout. Taking in the sights, she noticed a stark contrast between this lounge and the commoners. Light instrumental music played in the surroundings; the white walls and colorful decorations created a disparagingly significant difference from the gray corridors of the rest of the ship.

Looking around, seemingly searching for something or someone, she noticed a young man of above-average height standing alone in front of one of the many windows. His long black hair blended into the void as he stood unmoving. She approached the young man, and a loud voice sounded over the intercom.

-Present Time-

Calling out to the young man but getting no response, the woman inched closer and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Young master," The lady called out again, this time in a louder voice.

As the young man turned around, his crimson eyes scanned over her. His cold, emotionless face sent a slight shiver down her spine; she paused. She was not used to this look.

It had been long since he last looked at her with those eyes. Although calm, she could see unbridled rage fill the emptiness behind the crimson veil of his eyes.

The bright young boy she grew up with and watched over was no longer there; now, a cold, detached young man stood before her.

Noticing her discomfort, the young man looked away, sensing the tension between the two; hushed murmurs began to spread through the lounge.

Freed from his crimson eyes, the young woman awoke from her stupor, turned around, and glanced at the murmuring people around them. Her golden eyes glowed with self-ridicule as she looked at the gossiping people around them.

'I did it again even though I didn't want to.'

Berating herself, the young woman lowered her head and apologized to the young man. "I'm sorry, Young master, I didn't intend to cause a scene."

"No need for apologies, Alicia. You are not at fault because of my carelessness and disregard for my surroundings."

A soothing but deep voice reached Alicia's ears as she glanced upwards into the very same crimson eyes that sent chills down her spine, but this time, a different feeling enveloped her.

The slight smile and affection in his eyes made her regret her reaction even more; this was the young man she knew, the kind-hearted boy from when they were young. Those cold-hearted eyes may be his, but she should have known the anger hidden in them wasn't directed at her.

Fzzt!

"Attention, we have now entered the orbital spaceport. Those with personal shuttles may directly disembark. Thank you for flying Trinity Space. We hope for your continued patronage.

As the intercom sounded again, Alicia redirected her attention. She looked down at her communicator and interacted with the holographic screen.

"Young master, they have finished loading the luggage into the shuttle. The Lord has requested that we head straight to the family's estate to prepare you for tomorrow's awakening".

"Very well, I had no plans to make any detours anyway."

As the young man passed her, Alicia couldn't help but silently inhale a deep breath as his scent enveloped her momentarily. Looking at his departing back, she longed for the memory of the boy she once knew.

{Pov Change-30 Minutes Later}

As the young man looked out the shuttle window, he couldn't help but reminisce about the scenery around him. Giant skyscrapers field his vision as holographic screens flash with different advertisements. Bellow, he could see a multitude of other vehicles hovering above the ground as pedestrians filled the walkways.

As he looked on, wonder and awe filled his face; he knew that even though his family held the prestigious rank of Viscount, their wealth would not be enough to advance their territory as much as a fraction of this world's cities.

"Young master, we have arrived at the estate. Your father has informed me to tell you to head to his office upon entry."

The young man looked over and nodded. As he got up and made his way to the open end of the ship, he could see Alicia standing there, her white hair tied in a high ponytail as her golden eyes followed his every movement.

He remembered what had happened on the ship and how he had scared her; he knew this wasn't the first time and probably wouldn't be the last. He remembered all the times he had wanted her to choose a different occupation instead of serving him.

Now that he knows that his time for the military academy is approaching, he can't help but tear his eyes away from her as an unknown pressure pounds on his chest.

Quickening his steps down the shuttle ramp and onto the landing pad, the young man took in his surroundings. It had been a while since he last visited this place, and almost nothing had changed. Looking up, he could see the golden words "Solaris" written on one of the many skyscrapers in this city.

This building was his family's "Estate" on Krylos. All the Viscount title was is just one of this city's many skyscrapers. Unless his family contributed enough to the kingdom, they would never get any more or less.

A passionate gaze flashed through his eyes; he wanted more, not just a flimsy rank tied together by a person's standing in the military but the power to do what he wished—the power to crush the being that tormented his dreams.

He knew that soon enough, he would be able to begin his journey toward that power.
