All in all… A very successful test I would think.
"I will still need to test the REMR5's capabilities at longer ranges as they shouldn't be any worse than your average sniper rifle. Though it will be difficult to find any good targets…" Letting out a sigh as I couldn't help mumbling to myself about that last data point that is really weighing me down.
Especially since the beasties we'll be dealing with are often called the king of beasts as well as the rulers of the skies. I will need the REMR5 to be fully operational in case my anti-air weaponry are not as perfect as I claim they will be. If research was perfect it would be the REMR1 after all.
Of course I had done some basics tests however those will never be as thorough in the information department as an on field test. If I had some more time that would be better. Yet I can't delay more when it comes to testing those weapons; at least I do have some other options in case they don't work out.
One doesn't get successful due to planning for success - you get successful when you plan for failure!
Fortunately my wonderfully inventive QGPT21 was nothing short of beautiful. Truly being perfection as far as the "point and burn" weaponry can be concerned - literally reducing a fully grown man to nothing with heat surpassing a star. A weapon that burns things with four trillion degrees of wrath.
Who else can say they tamed "fire" 100,000 times hotter than the center of the sun itself? It wasn't technically a flame thrower due to using plasma rather than ignitable fuel however they can be said to be the best comparison. If a mere flame could cause such fear, imagine what my QGPT21 could do.
Thinking of my future targets I couldn't stop a grin from forming under my helm. "Sure would love to see a dragon try to breathe something scarier than a beam of quark gluon plasma or have their scales resist such high temperatures. Those moonlight dragons will learn how to be humble very quickly I imagine."

<< {user}.[Armor-Cordis] Is Getting A Bit Too Excited >>

Oh do shut up; there is nothing wrong with admiring ones hard work.
Especially when that hard work will be tearing those damn winged lizards down from the sky like the true god damned possessors that they are.
Unfortunately the gates into the city soon came into view and it appeared that the guards I was helping earlier noticed me. Waving merrily towards me which was an act I returned. There are no disadvantages in getting to know the local law enforcers in more than a professional capacity.
There were a few of the adventurous sort hanging about at the gates doing all sorts: some were waiting for companions, others sorting out their spoils and dismantling their kills. It was safer doing it in front of the city gates than in the middle of the wild, after all. Not many merchants though.
Most would have already headed off to save as much daylight as possible - allowing them to travel as far as possible while under the safety of the sun.
"Anything important happened since I left?" I promptly asked with my hand still raised in greeting. Some of the adventurers looked at me with various emotions, what they were thinking exactly was over my head as there were likely too many opinions, all depending on their own background & personalities.
Some looked with respect, suspicion, worry and even strangely lust…
I mean… I guess the breast plate didn't exactly hide my size however it was certainly a fetish that I was not aware of previously.
Fortunately those guards had far less concerns due to the hour or so of me just helping them do their jobs with no additional costs. Speaking up as I finally got close to them. "Well nothing happened at this gate other than the usual but what happened to that trio of asshats you were with?"
"Afraid they tried to ambush me in the tunnels thinking I was some rookie only to find themselves getting ambushed by goblins. Didn't even need to do much as those green-skins took out their archer." Shaking my head with a long drawn out sigh.
It got some disgruntled murmurs from those listening in at the side with others obviously not believing me.
Nevertheless I never asked for their opinions so I just continued on. "From their bragging when they thought they had me it seems this wasn't the first time. So I'll be reporting it to the investigations to see how deep this possibly goes."
The suspicion of those peeping adventurers soon transformed into shock as well as a little fear that such a group could get away with that… Or they were well aware of such a possibility and just looked grim.
"Who was dumb enough to actually attack a fully armoured- no, never mind, you don't need to worry about reporting it as we can just do it for you as we are still members of the city guard. We'll just quickly record your statement if you don't mind." One had to respect that level of professionalism.
I just had the front plate of my helm retracted as that little bit of human connection should massively help in getting this done with as soon as possible. Offering them a smile as I spoke. "That is fine as I am the one intending to initiate the investigation but are we going to do it here or-"
*BANG* BANG* BANG* BANG*
Immediately everyone was startled and jumped into a defensive posture while looking toward the city.
Not a surprising reaction for those who were unused to the modern world and their tactics but for me it brought shock for a completely different reason. There was no way I wouldn't recognise that sound even if I couldn't place my finger on the exact model or even calibur. Yet there was no doubt about what it was.
"That sounds like…" One of the guards let his words slip out from his mouth as he unconsciously looked towards me and I couldn't blame him. Instead I finished what he was saying. "That sounds exactly like a firearm and specifically some pistol… I just don't recognise it from the sound alone."
Which was very weird since there were very few guns, even ones from way before I was born, that I had not personally fired let alone heard.
Still that hardly mattered at the moment.
"I'm going to see what happened and you should report this to the rest of the guard so that they can keep their eye on this situation." Quickly ordering the guard to do their jobs as I ran in. I didn't wait for their reply but heard them yell it nonetheless.
Wasting no time in weaving through anyone by the gate as I headed straight toward a building; throwing out my arm as a wire shot out in response. My face mask snapped shut as I was flung upwards with great speed that I didn't waste. Not stopping for a second as I continued toward the sound.
Refusing to let my momentum falter for a second as I leapt from rooftop to rooftop with my suit only helping in this.
When I reached the town square, a large open space with plenty of stalls, I still didn't stop as I whipped my arm out again. Leaping off the building only to once more send that wire out from my wrist to connect to the otherside of the square. The grapple whizzed back into place and flinging me across.
Refusing to even stop when landing as that would only result in me stumbling - truly pushing myself to a degree of agility that was impossible for a human to match. A fact that eventually appeared to reward me as I came upon the opposite gate. There I saw something that made my blood boil.
Standing overtop the collapsed Alexis was a familiar menacing figure of a wolf in a white cloak; just the sight of him alone brought me to tremble. Yet what broke me out was the overwhelming anger. Especially when I saw him holding Arthur in one arm while holding a still smoking handgun in the other.
Wasting no time I ejected my handcannon out my thigh and promptly brought it up to my other hand that was already waiting to fan the hammer. Instantly unloading a bullet in each of the bastard's limbs. I could always learn the details after making sure that the wolf can't escape or continue being a danger to them.
Yet that isn't what happened.
Reality itself seemed to distort just so that his injuries wouldn't be perceivable - when it stopped he indeed had no discernible damage. I wasn't even able to ruin that clean white cloak he wore. At least he turned around to look at me just to let out a "... Hello?" with a surprisingly melodic voice.
"Err, well it seems everything is under control here, constable!" Not hesitating to begin running away as he erupted into navy flames to escape as quickly as humanly possible. Of course I unloaded the rest of my revolver into his back yet that proceeded to do nothing.
Those flames petered out as he vanished with my brother; both leaving no clues behind as I suddenly felt like the inside of this suit was way too stuffy. Instinctively raising my gun up to throw it in rage however I stopped myself. Not due to calming down but because my gun was too beautiful to be disrespected.
Instead I took the rational approach… I roared at the top of my lungs as if the sky owed me money and with so much vigor that it felt as if the world itself was trembling. Soon enough the guards arrived but it was already way too fuck late for that.
There wasn't even anything I could do to track them as they left nothin-
A memory of a certain True God talking to that very same wolf came to the forefront of my mind as I subconsciously turned towards the location of a certain bar.
My gaze then fell upon that blonde haired girl who was already the first to act; narrowing my eyes as I jumped down to the ground. She might know something and even if she didn't I'd rather get her out of prying eyes for now. Holding her like a sack of potatoes I ignored all attempts to get my attention.
Even if my master doesn't know where he is… She should know what he's after.
