'No reaction?' Edward thought as he stared at the massive tentacle, motionless as it was endlessly pierced.
"This isn't going to work." Edward snapped his fingers, releasing a sphere of white mana. It struck one of the ice mirrors, ricocheting as it shattered them all in sequence. The concentrated mana beam struck the tentacle one last time before vanishing into the sky. "So, Noctua, did you go blank? Why didn't you continue speaking?"
The enormous tentacle collapsed to the ground, unmoving. Edward not only heard the sound of its fall but also of Noctua's, followed by the crash of several books.
"Ehh!? Was I supposed to keep talking?" Noctua exclaimed in surprise as she quickly got back up. "The way you were acting, it seemed like you'd already figured it out, so I didn't want to disrupt your concentration."
