Kafka was still standing there, dazed and blinking, as the cheers and laughter around him blurred into white noise. Everything had happened so fast that his mind hadn't caught up yet.
Meanwhile, Vanitas suddenly found herself the center of attention.
Lyra and Bella ran straight up to her, both of them throwing their arms around her at once.
"Congratulations, Auntie Vanitas!" Bella said brightly, her voice brimming with excitement. "You actually did it—you finally got your wish! You finally got Kafka to be your husband!"
Lyra's smile was bright as she looked up at her.
"How does it feel, huh? It must feel amazing, right? You must be over the moon right now!" She clasped her hands together dreamily. "If it were me, I'd be jumping for joy if my greatest wish came true like that!"
Vanitas blinked rapidly, still caught halfway between disbelief and bliss. Her heart was pounding so fast that she could hardly think.
