Critics Consensus:

"Man of Tomorrow is a bold, imaginative Superman sequel that expands the DCU's cosmic mythology while never losing sight of its emotional core. Henry Cavill continues to define the role, Milly Alcock makes an electrifying debut as Supergirl, and Chukwudi Iwuji's Brainiac is a villain worthy of the Man of Steel. A grand, visually stunning achievement."

Summary:

"Man of Tomorrow continues the DCU's winning streak with a more personal Superman sequel that balances cosmic spectacle with family drama. The introduction of Kara Zor-El and Brainiac expands the mythology in exciting ways, even if the film's middle stretch occasionally feels overstuffed."

Deadline

"Man of Tomorrow is another winner for DC Studios. Brad Bird brings a sense of wonder and scale to Superman's world, while Daniel Adler and Scott Snyder's script understands that Clark Kent's greatest strength is not his power, but his compassion. The film is thrilling, emotional, and surprisingly strange in the best way."

The Hollywood Reporter

"Henry Cavill has never been better as Superman. This is the film that fully cements his Clark Kent as one of the defining superhero performances of the modern era. Newcomer Milly Alcock makes a strong debut as Kara Zor-El, but the standout is Chukwudi Iwuji as Brainiac, a villain of terrifying calm whose obsession gives the film its strongest thematic material."

Variety

"Man of Tomorrow is grand and earnest, even when it occasionally strains under the weight of its own mythology. The film juggles Brainiac, Kara, Lex Luthor, Solaris, and the broader DCU with impressive confidence, though the second act drags slightly as the story moves between locations. Still, when the film works, it soars."

IGN

Score: 8.5/10

"Man of Tomorrow is a fantastic Superman sequel that embraces everything wonderful and weird about the character. Brainiac is one of the DCU's best villains so far. The finale is pure comic-book insanity in the best possible way."

Forbes

"DC Studios continues its remarkable streak with Man of Tomorrow. Henry Cavill carries the movie with warmth and moral clarity, while Chukwudi Iwuji's Brainiac gives the story a villain worthy of Superman's scale. Expect massive box office numbers, as always."

[Read More]

BBC Culture

"Man of Tomorrow is at its best when it explores what Krypton means to Clark and Kara differently. For Clark, Krypton is an inherited absence. For Kara, it is a home she watched die. That emotional contrast gives the film surprising power. The film's visuals are stunning, but it suffers from an overstuffed third act. At one point, some audience members might feel confused or unable to keep up."

The Guardian

3/5 Stars

"A handsome and heartfelt Superman sequel, though not without bloat. Man of Tomorrow introduces several major elements to the DCU and sometimes feels too eager to explore too much. The second act could have been leaner, and Brainiac becomes a secondary threat by the third act. Still, Henry Cavill remains excellent, and Brainiac is still a formidable addition to the franchise."

[Read More]

Empire

4/5 Stars

"This is a Superman movie filled with flying dogs, bottled cities, and cosmic monsters, yet its emotional center remains Clark Kent trying to do the right thing. Not everything lands perfectly, but the highs are spectacular."

[Read More]

Collider

"Man of Tomorrow is a gorgeous, emotionally generous Superman film that expands the DCU's universe in all the right directions. Henry Cavill remains the definitive Superman of his generation. Corey Stoll's Lex Luthor nearly steals the film every time he appears. The film loses its footing slightly in its second act, where the sheer volume of storylines competes for breathing room, but the final hour is as thrilling and emotionally satisfying as anything the DCU has produced."

u/BeautifullyAcidic

Just got back from watching it, and wow. Chapter 2 of the DCU has started off with a bang. If this is the level we're getting after Justice League, I genuinely can't wait for Wonder Woman.

u/irritabletavern993

I'm not even joking when I say I shed a tear finally seeing Brainiac in live action and done this well. Chukwudi Iwuji absolutely killed it.

u/oldreinstatement34

Milly was perfect casting for Supergirl. Perfect. Seeing her in the suit at the end with Superman had me smiling like an idiot. Give me a solo Supergirl movie now.

u/straight_mowing

I liked the movie overall, but it had pacing issues, and Solaris felt shoved in at the end. Like, why was he even there? Brainiac was already enough. Also, I don't love that Kara basically got the big Brainiac defeat. This was supposed to be Superman's movie.

u/shiveringsimulation87 replying to u/straight_mowing

What movie did you watch? Superman does defeat Brainiac.

u/straight_mowing replying to u/shiveringsimulation87

No, he doesn't. Kara activates the Phantom Zone device. Superman is basically support in his own finale.

u/shiveringsimulation87 replying to u/straight_mowing

That's such a bad-faith read. Superman fights Brainiac multiple times, saves Earth from Solaris, comes back with Solaris' corpse and basically uses it as a giant bowling ball against Brainiac, saves Kara, and then he and Kara beat Brainiac together. Kara activating the Phantom Zone device doesn't erase Superman's role.

u/straight_mowing replying to u/shiveringsimulation87

Still felt like they were setting up Supergirl at Superman's expense.

u/shiveringsimulation87 replying to u/straight_mowing

They were introducing Supergirl, yes. That doesn't mean Superman was sidelined. The whole movie is literally about Clark learning what Krypton means to him through Kara and Brainiac. His emotional arc is the center of the film.

u/straight_mowing replying to u/shiveringsimulation87

Solaris should have been cut. And don't forget Lex. I don't even know why he had to be in the movie with such a prominent role. Look, I get that warsuit Lex was a nice surprise, but still.

u/shiveringsimulation87 replying to u/straight_mowing

My dude, Lex is obviously being built up as the big bad for Justice League 2. They're going for a President Lex storyline where he wins the presidency and goes after the League with the Legion of Doom.

u/anchoredgusto

I did not see Adler's cameo in this one. I must have missed it.

u/PointedPatriotism replying to u/anchoredgusto

Yeah, Adler was one of the henchmen following Mercy Graves in the LexCorp scene. He's only there for like three seconds.

u/anchoredgusto replying to u/PointedPatriotism

Oh, cool. Also, who was the actress playing her? She was hot.

u/PointedPatriotism replying to u/anchoredgusto

Vanessa Kirby. And yes.

u/reflectiveforefinger0559

Brainiac showing Clark Krypton through the orb was one of the best scenes in the entire DCU. I love the DCU version of Krypton.

u/severalbreadth23

Krypto was sidelined the whole movie, man. Adler did us all dirty. The marketing made it seem like he was in the whole movie.

u/previousarchipelago

The Sun-Eater death was evil. Adler, Snyder, Brad Bird, whoever made that decision, I hate you. I was attached to that cosmic nightmare.

u/IntentlyLoving

I actually liked Solaris. He was not the main villain. He was basically Brainiac's ultimate weapon against Kara and Clark. People saying, "Why was he there?" are missing the point.

u/GuiltyExpediency

Corey Stoll's Lex is so good it's unfair. President Luthor is 100% coming.

u/diligent_bicycle

This is probably my favorite Superman movie now. The first one was great, but this felt like the DCU fully embracing how insane Superman comics can be. Brainiac, Kandor, Krypto, Supergirl, Solaris, all in one movie, and somehow it worked.

u/Teeny-tinyCarcass

My only complaint is that the second act dragged a bit after Kara arrived. Not badly, but there were maybe ten minutes that could've been trimmed. Still loved it.

u/SecondaryUprising

So, are we going to talk about the end-credit scene? They are definitely doing Death of Superman, right?

u/frizzy_colors

The Doomsday tease made me lose my mind. If they are doing Death of Superman then I am not emotionally ready.

u/CautiousOregano

I did not like it. It didn't feel like a Superman movie to me. Too much Supergirl, too much Lex. Superman felt like he was sharing his own sequel.

u/HopefulDailyPlanet replying to u/CautiousOregano

How did it not feel like a Superman movie?

u/CautiousOregano replying to u/HopefulDailyPlanet

Because Superman should have been the sole focus.

u/MetropolisCitizen replying to u/CautiousOregano

Damn troll.

u/FastestModAlive

What I like about the DCU is that they care enough to show that, hey, the other heroes are around when big stuff happens. Martian Manhunter, Flash, even though it was just a streak, and finally Diana and Bruce show up. It's also mentioned that they are helping in other parts of the world.

u/DeepSpaceCorrespondent

So Brainiac is involved in Doomsday being brought to Earth. That much is clear. Also, since he is in the Phantom Zone, does this mean Zod will also be making an appearance soon?

MAN OF TOMORROW SOARS TO $556 MILLION GLOBAL OPENING WEEKEND

Man of Tomorrow has officially launched to a staggering $556 million worldwide opening weekend, giving DC Studios yet another historic box office victory and proving that Superman remains one of the strongest cinematic brands in the world.

The Brad Bird-directed sequel, starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Corey Stoll as Lex Luthor, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Brainiac, opened far above early industry projections and became one of the largest global debuts of all time.

While it did not reach the record-breaking heights of Justice League, which stunned the industry with an $803 million global launch, Man of Tomorrow now ranks as the fourth-biggest worldwide opening weekend in history, below the first Superman movie.

Current all-time global opening weekend rankings:

Justice League – $803M

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – $777M

Superman – $718M

Man of Tomorrow – $556M

"This is another extraordinary result for DC," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst.

The film opened to $214 million domestically and $342 million internationally, driven by massive turnout in premium formats, strong family attendance, and overwhelming interest in the DCU post-Justice League.

Domestic Breakdown

Opening Weekend: $214 million

Per-Theater Average: $48,504

IMAX Contribution: $36 million

Premium Format Total: $61 million

CinemaScore: A

The domestic launch gives Man of Tomorrow one of the largest solo superhero openings ever, though it falls short of the first Superman film's extraordinary debut. Still, a $214 million domestic start is a huge win for Stardust/DC and places the sequel firmly among the biggest blockbuster openings of the decade.

International Breakdown

International Opening: $342 million

China: $72 million

United Kingdom: $39 million

Mexico: $31 million

Brazil: $28 million

South Korea: $24 million

France: $21 million

Germany: $20 million

Australia: $18 million

Internationally, the film performed especially well in markets where DC had built enormous goodwill. China delivered the biggest overseas opening with $72 million, while the UK, Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea all posted strong numbers.

Stardust Entertainment CEO Chris Henderson released a statement this morning:

"The response to Man of Tomorrow has been extraordinary. Superman continues to wow audiences around the world, and we are thrilled to see fans embrace new characters. This is a tremendous start for the next chapter of the DCU."

TMZ (@TMZ)

BREAKING: Margot Robbie was spotted wearing what experts believe is a rare antique red diamond engagement ring worth over $6 million.

Jewelry experts tell TMZ the stone appears to be a natural red diamond, one of the rarest diamonds in the world, set in an antique design that may date back decades, or even centuries. Sources say the ring all but confirms Robbie and Daniel Adler are engaged.

Replies:

@Celecher101

HOLY SHIT, THAT RING.

@Aiamogirl89

A RED DIAMOND????? Daniel Adler said subtlety is for poor people, apparently.

@adlerfan_22

Over six million for a ring is insane, but also... it's gorgeous.

@Moover000

I mean, it's obvious they've been engaged for a while. Pretty sure this happened at the end of last year.

@LuDaily

Experts saying it's an antique red diamond makes this even crazier. Where the hell did Adler even get this?

@jewelrd44

Natural red diamonds are almost impossible to find. If that is real, well, it could be worth a lot more than six million.

@Hannhelf

Imagine casually wearing six million dollars on your finger. How does one even do that?

@AdlerUpdates

So are we finally allowed to say they're engaged, or are we still pretending this is just a "regular ring"?

@filmffe0

Daniel Adler really proposed with legendary loot.

@Heayrdonm

Motherfucker, that's an Infinity Stone. Now Thanos is coming for Margot too.

@rgbbyrnic

Everyone is focusing on the price, but the design is actually beautiful. Antique setting, red diamond center, probably custom-restored.

@Swiillover

Oh great, another billionaire being praised for obscene wealth.

@Kgfemacy

If I had Daniel Adler money, I'd also buy a mythic-tier engagement ring. Let's be honest.

@Adlctcher

r/AdlerSnark is about to have a completely normal reaction to this.

@Qiamongyh8

If that's a natural red diamond with good clarity and that size, $6M might actually be conservative.

@Aormy401

Where do you even buy an antique red diamond ring? Like, is there a billionaire side room at jewelry stores?

@LuxstyleDaily replying to @Aormy401

Private collectors, estate sales, auction houses, old European families, etc. This is not something you see in a mall.

The Hollywood Reporter (@THR)

BREAKING: Daniel Adler will direct Ready or Not, a new thriller-comedy starring Margot Robbie, with production expected to begin later this year.

The film follows a bride whose wedding night takes a deadly turn when she is forced to take part in a twisted family tradition.

Replies:

@Filessed24

Finally, they're doing a movie together.

@cinemmansion8

They get engaged, and Daniel immediately makes a horror movie about a woman's wedding night turning into a nightmare. Romantic king.

@AudrftFan

Daniel has a very strange sense of wedding planning.

THE SCARLETT AFFAIR: How long has this really been going on?

Okay.

So yesterday, these photos dropped.

Photo 1: Daniel Adler and Scarlett Johansson leaving a private restaurant in Los Angeles.

Photo 2: Scarlett with her arm around Daniel's waist.

Photo 3: Close-up of them laughing together.

Photo 4: Scarlett leaning into him while they wait for the car.

Photo 5: Daniel opening the car door for her.

Photo 6: Scarlett touching his chest while saying something.

Photo 7: The two of them getting into the same car.

Photo 8: Blurry shot of them in the backseat, still sitting close.

Now, before the usual Adler Defense Force lurkers come in here screaming, "THEY ARE FRIENDS," that is not the point.

The point is Daniel Adler and Scarlett Johansson have always been weirdly close.

And I mean always.

Let's go back.

The Blair Witch Project was Scarlett's big break in the industry. She apparently met him there, and he cast her immediately after seeing her, according to this interview. [Video linked] They became great friends afterwards.

But then you start looking through old photos.

2008: Scarlett and Daniel leaving a party together.

2009: Scarlett at a Stardust event, glued to Daniel's side the entire night.

2010: Daniel and Scarlett at some private screening, sitting together while everyone else is several seats away.

2014: Scarlett and Daniel photographed at dinner in New York, with no Margot in sight.

[Many more photos are linked.]

At what point are we allowed to say this looks like more than friendship?

My theory: Daniel and Scarlett have been involved since the Blair Witch days. Maybe it was casual. Maybe it was on and off. But I do not believe for one second that nothing has ever happened there.And yes, that means I think it continued after he started dating Margot.

Now, before anyone says I'm "bringing Margot into this," I know this sub had issues, especially after the drama last year with that one guy who was way more obsessed with Margot than he was interested in criticizing and calling out Adler like we do here.

That was not okay. This is different.

This is not about "saving" Margot or whatever insane nonsense that guy was posting. This is about Daniel Adler and the carefully constructed image around him: the perfect boyfriend, the perfect genius, the perfect billionaire who somehow never does anything wrong.

And I'm sorry, but the Scarlett thing has always been there.

You can see it in the body language.

You can see it in interviews.

You can see it in how they talk about each other.

He looks at her differently.

She looks at him differently.

And Margot? She did say in an interview that it was Scarlett who introduced them. Maybe she knows and is staying silent, but I don't think so. I don't think she knows. This is a sick game for Adler and Johansson.

The post continues rambling….

Comments:

u/ForsakenUltimatum

Oh boy, I thought we were done with these Margot-obsessed weirdos…

u/The_Commander replying to u/ForsakenUltimatum

I already told you I am not some white knight for Margot Robbie. I am just presenting what I have noticed.

u/clearly_exalted_lifeline

This is such a reach. They've known each other since they were teens. Physical affection does not automatically mean affair.

u/crack_of_dawn replying to u/clearly_exalted_lifeline

Nah, Commander is right. There's too much smoke here. I've been saying this for years. Scarlett and Daniel have always had weird energy. Go watch that interview at the Age of Ultron after-party. They were basically eye-fucking each other half the time.

u/cagey_theater

I don't even like Adler, but this is exactly the kind of thing that almost got this sub nuked last year. Can we not do the Margot relationship conspiracy stuff again?

u/worriedly_ripe_intolerance replying to u/cagey_theater

Nobody is making it about Margot. We're making it about Adler being fake as hell.

u/cagey_theater replying to u/worriedly_ripe_intolerance

The post literally says he may have cheated on Margot.

u/brightly_unwieldy_saloon replying to u/cagey_theater

Because he probably did.

u/quixoticcassette512

The "they're just friends" crowd is hilarious. If my fiancé was acting like this with another woman, I would have questions.

u/DailyAdept

Normal people: two longtime friends hugged after dinner.

This sub: secret decade-long affair, Hollywood arrangement, body language analysis, bring out the corkboard.

u/TheIrritableCracker

You people are embarrassing. This is why everyone thinks this sub is full of freaks.

u/exhilarated_staging replying to u/TheIrritableCracker

And yet you're here.

u/TheIrritableCracker replying to u/exhilarated_staging

Because watching you guys spiral is free entertainment.

u/TheViolentTempo

I don't know about Scarlett, but I've always thought there was something with Joanna too.

u/available_line-up replying to u/TheViolentTempo

YES. Joanna is the one nobody talks about.

u/SlipperyConsistency

Adler has definitely cheated. Not saying with who, but come on. Billionaire filmmaker surrounded by actresses, models, and fans since he was a teenager? Be serious. I mean, what would you do if you were in his pants? I know what I would do.

u/LivelyRepository

This sub: "We criticize Daniel's dangerous influence over media and tech."

Also this sub: "Here is a blurry photo of Scarlett touching his jacket. The affair began in 2007."

u/HelpfulPublisher

I'm not even convinced Margot cares. Hollywood relationships are weird. They might have an arrangement.

u/therotatingdrilling replying to u/HelpfulPublisher

This is exactly the fanfic nonsense people accuse this sub of writing.

u/stylishstimulus694

Commander cooked here. The timeline is too consistent.

u/decentphysique42

Or maybe they're close because they've been friends for, like, a decade? Wild concept.

u/mixedmainframe545

Commander forgot the recent photo where Scarlett was leaving Daniel's New Year's party at 3 a.m. together, with no Margot in sight. That one disappeared from most sites, by the way.

u/abnormallyworkableillustrator replying to u/mixedmainframe545

Source?

u/mixedmainframe545 replying to u/abnormallyworkableillustrator

I'll try to find it.

u/InbornDiver

I think people are too scared to admit Commander is right because of what happened last year. But the old mod being insane doesn't mean every Adler/Margot/Scarlett topic is forbidden forever.

u/brightly_unwieldy_saloon

Adler's PR team is definitely in this thread. The amount of defending is wild.

u/worn_bedtime replying to u/brightly_unwieldy_saloon

Or maybe normal people wandered in because this post is being mocked on Twitter.

u/abnormallyworkableillustrator

It already hit SubredditDrama, lmao.

u/SweetlyDamaged replying to u/abnormallyworkableillustrator

Of course it did. They hate this sub because we don't worship their god.

u/therotatingdrilling

If this turns out to be true, everyone mocking Commander will pretend they "always had doubts."

u/HelpfulPublisher

I think this is stupid. The only reason I'm here is because this fucker created the virus that is TikTok, and I hate him for it. I can't stand my sister doing those stupid dances everywhere.

u/sharply_witty_tights

The denial is strong in here. If this were any celeb other than Adler, people would call it suspicious immediately.

u/thepicayuneindicator

Mods need to be careful. This is exactly the kind of thread that gets clipped out of context and used to make the sub look deranged.

MAN OF TOMORROW ENDS THEATRICAL RUN WITH $1.85 BILLION WORLDWIDE

Man of Tomorrow has officially ended its theatrical run with a staggering $1.85 billion worldwide, cementing the Superman sequel as one of the biggest box office successes of all time.

The film's final worldwide total stands at:

Domestic: $672 million

International: $1.178 billion

Worldwide: $1.85 billion

With $1.85 billion worldwide, Man of Tomorrow becomes one of the top-grossing films in global box office history and another major win for DC Studios following last year's record-breaking Justice League.

It also becomes the fourth highest-grossing film in the DCU, behind Justice League, Superman, and The Green Lanterns.

Justice League: over $2.46 billion

Superman: over $2.2 billion

The Green Lanterns: $1.9 billion

Man of Tomorrow: $1.85 billion

The result confirms Superman's continued strength as one of the DCU's core box office pillars. While Man of Tomorrow did not surpass the first Superman film or Justice League, its $1.85 billion finish shows that audience support for the DCU is still high.
