I felt the wave beneath my board rise up into the air and I maintained my balance on top of my board, letting me ride it towards the shoreline.
The wave rolled over and I shifted my left foot forward on the board and pressed down on the board with the ball of my feet.
The board responded and I accelerated forward as the gravity thrusters on the board activated to shoot me forward along the crest of the wave.
I dipped down before changing my direction to launch myself up into the air, doing a midair flip before I landed back on the wave to continue riding along its crest.
It took me a while to get used to the fact that the surfboards in this universe had what was basically rocket boosters strapped to the back of the board but once I got the hang of it, I realised this was so much easier to use than the old ones I've used before.
After all, you can control the acceleration of the board and move freely on top of the water without being limited to where the wave was taking you.
