It's an ill omen of the trip, but none of us are so easily driven off. And the mission is too important to be giving up so easily, anyway.
Roland is the only one getting rained on. Unlike the wagons we've been using since taking May along, the merchant carriage is well sealed against the rain. Unless we were to open the windows, we likely won't see a drop of it.
It makes sense, of course. Even putting aside the obviously more open nature of the wagons, this carriage is more of a cart. And it's designed to haul goods. Those can't be getting wet when a traveling merchant faces poor weather.
