Kaguya shook her head and said, "Since you put it that way, let's use the Two-Tails next time. There are only two energy transfers left anyway."
With only two opportunities remaining, she wasn't worried about Funan playing tricks.
What's more, she carefully examined the chakra each time, confirming it was pure before integrating it into her own source of power.
She hesitated slightly and asked, "Is there really no other way to increase power?"
"None," Funan replied, spreading his hands. "We only have so many resources. There's nothing else I can do—unless we use the materials meant for creating White Zetsu, or just directly use the White Zetsu themselves."
"Forget it then."
Kaguya let out a helpless sigh.
"By the way!" Funan suddenly asked, "Speaking of White Zetsu—do the ones you've created have any special function when facing powerful enemies?"
Kaguya glanced at him, hesitated slightly, and replied, "They do have some additional uses… but I'll tell you after we've dealt with Hagoromo."
"Alright." Funan smiled. "It's a deal."
He turned to leave.
Only—
At the very moment he turned, his expression turned ice-cold.
So the White Zetsu did have another use.
But!
Kaguya didn't intend to tell him what it was.
Not telling me? Heh. I didn't want to know that badly anyway.
And even if she did tell him—was he supposed to believe it?
And beyond that—
Funan turned to glance at the place where Kaguya lived, a cold smile tugging at his lips.
"Did you really think my things would be so easy to take?"
You ate what's mine. You drank what's mine.
Your power increased.
You got White Zetsu.
You haven't even released the Nine-Tails.
Heh… How amusing.
You think I'm just some naïve benefactor?
No rush.
Soon enough, I'll make you understand—
who truly stands above all.
...
A month passed in the blink of an eye.
Over that month, Funan completed all his preparations.
At the same time—
He devoured all of the White Zetsu.
All of the benefits from that went directly into boosting his dōjutsu power, causing his ocular strength to skyrocket once more.
Anyone who looked into his Rinnegan now would instantly feel it—
a gaze that held the power to destroy the world.
A new era for the Shinobi World had arrived.
Today was Year One, January 1st of the New Shinobi Era.
Funan handed the last of the energy to Kaguya.
"Kaguya, it's time. Let's take care of the Sage of Six Paths."
Kaguya nodded and, after absorbing the energy into her body, finally asked, "Funan, do you know where Hagoromo is?"
Funan gave her a puzzled look. "You don't?"
"Should I?" Kaguya asked curiously. "I was sealed away for thousands of years—how could I possibly know where Hagoromo is?"
"Oh!"
Funan suddenly understood, then grinned and said, "Doesn't matter. You don't know—but I do."
[Crack! Crack! Crack!]
Strange markings suddenly spread across Kaguya's body.
"Uchiha Funan, what are you doing?!"
Kaguya was startled and shouted in alarm.
"Mother, be careful!"
Black Zetsu, hiding within Kaguya's sleeve, screamed in panic.
"What else could I be doing?" Funan replied with a smile.
"Obviously, I'm sending you to your son—so you two can reunite as mother and child!"
[Whoosh!]
As soon as the words fell, Kaguya vanished.
Her presence disappeared completely from the Shinobi World.
Tobirama arrived in a rush and asked urgently, "How did it go?"
"Not bad," Funan replied approvingly.
"You really came up with something useful. I successfully sent Kaguya to her son—now let her fight it out with the Sage of Six Paths."
"Aren't you worried they might not fight?"
"I am!" Funan said with a laugh.
"Which is why I'm going too. Second, get everyone ready. Proceed according to the plan."
"Understood!"
[Whoosh!]
Funan also vanished from the Shinobi World. When he appeared again—he was in the Pure Land.
At that moment, the Sage of Six Paths, who had been seated cross-legged midair, was already wielding his Truth-Seeking Orbs and clashing directly with Kaguya.
The Sage had been caught completely off guard.
He had been watching Kaguya and Funan from afar, when suddenly Kaguya disappeared from the Shinobi World—
—and reappeared right in front of him.
"Hagoromo!"
Kaguya let out a piercing scream.
From the palm of her hand, the All-Killing Ash Bones shot forth, aimed straight at the Sage of Six Paths.
From the look of it, this wasn't exactly a mother's embrace!
"Mother!"
After a moment of stunned silence, Hagoromo immediately summoned his Truth-Seeking Orbs without hesitation.
Hidden within Kaguya's sleeve, Black Zetsu was completely dumbfounded.
This… this… this…
How was he even supposed to describe this?
"Tsk, tsk, tsk…"
In the shadows, Funan watched it all unfold, clicking his tongue in amusement.
...
[BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!]
Thunderous explosions echoed across the tranquil Pure Land.
How could such a world-shaking battle be without a drink?
Funan found himself a quiet spot, pulled out the wine he had prepared, and leisurely began to sip.
After a moment's thought, he added a couple of side dishes and started eating as well.
Drink my wine, eat my food.
Kaguya, it's time you paid your dues.
Right now, the two of them were going at it furiously, and Funan was thoroughly enjoying the show.
Blow after blow, back and forth—they were locked in an intense clash!
"Keep fighting, keep fighting... Once you're both worn out, Daddy will step in and clean up!"
"Huh?"
"They're... evenly matched?" Funan was genuinely surprised.
"Uchiha Funan!"
Kaguya suddenly let out a furious shout. "Where are you?! Why aren't you backing me up?!"
She was growing impatient from not being able to finish off Hagoromo.
His power... was even stronger than she had expected.
Funan looked thoroughly unimpressed.
From how desperately she was calling him, Funan was convinced—this woman still had plenty of fight left in her.
But after shouting for a while and still not spotting him, Kaguya grew even more agitated.
"Where are you?!"
"Uchiha Funan!"
"Are you planning to break our deal?!"
"Come out already!"
Meanwhile, Funan was tucked away in a corner, quietly sipping and snacking.
...La-la-la, not listening to your whining!
You think I'd jump into this now?
But just then, because Kaguya couldn't find him—
The Sage made his move.
[Whoosh!]
A sharp attack tore through the air from afar.
Funan's expression changed slightly. Activating the Body Flicker Technique, he narrowly dodged the strike.
However—
His position was exposed.
Funan narrowed his eyes, first looking at the Sage, then at Kaguya, a meaningful smile playing at his lips.
"So, you really managed to find me, Sage?"
Hagoromo fixed his gaze on Funan and said coldly, "I've dwelled in the Pure Land for thousands of years. I know this place inside and out."
"Oh!" Funan said in realization. "Then I don't get it—why force me out into the open? Isn't it better for me to stay hidden?"
"Why not finish off your mother first, then come after me?"
"Now that I've shown up, aren't you worried I'll join forces with her and come after you together?"
"You do realize how strong your mother is, don't you?"
"Damn it!"
"I am the Sage of Six Paths," Hagoromo said coolly, "Why should I fear ghosts and demons?"
"Now that's badass!" Funan grinned and gave a thumbs-up. "Although honestly, what you should have said was: 'As the Sage of Six Paths, I shall crush all enemies beneath the heavens.'"
"Enough with the nonsense!" Kaguya snapped, glaring furiously at him. "Uchiha Funan, why haven't you joined the fight?!"
"Are you giving me orders now?" Funan narrowed his eyes and shot her a cold glare.
"I—"
[BOOM!]
Before she could finish, Funan launched a Tailed Beast Bomb straight at her. Without missing a beat, he followed up with a black rod formed from Truth-Seeking Orbs, aiming it directly at Kaguya.
"Have you lost your mind?!"
The sudden ambush made Kaguya scream in disbelief.
Even Hagoromo's expression froze.
What the hell?
"What are you spacing out for?!" Funan barked at Hagoromo. "I've already made my move! Are you planning to keep standing there pretending you're above it all? Now's the perfect time to take her down!"
Hagoromo: ???
Kaguya couldn't take it anymore. With a roar of rage, she shouted, "Hagoromo, you ungrateful child—you're plotting against me again?!"
Hearing that, Hagoromo flinched, a chill running through his ghostly body like a ripple of cold sweat.
Had Uchiha Funan figured it out?
Worse—had he planned around it?
How was that even possible?!
How could he know?!
Funan sneered to himself.
Compared to someone like him—an outsider—the possibility of Hagoromo and Kaguya joining forces was far more likely.
Even as enemies, they still had deep, tangled connections.
But with him?
Neither Kaguya nor Hagoromo could get a read on him. That's why Funan had suspected all along that the two would eventually team up to eliminate him first.
He had always found it suspicious—why did Hagoromo just stand by and watch as Funan consolidated control over the shinobi world, and as Kaguya's strength grew over the past months?
There's no way he didn't know!
There was no hiding the fact that Kaguya had been growing stronger.
So why did he stay silent?
Because he and Kaguya were the real allies here.
Those two bastards were waiting for the perfect moment to strike hard and take him out.
That was the only explanation that made sense.
And that's why Funan didn't mind detonating things early.
No matter how you looked at it, he wasn't losing anything—both of them were his enemies anyway.
Now it was clear—there really was something fishy going on.
Kaguya, meanwhile, was now fighting off Funan's assault while keeping a wary eye on Hagoromo.
He was her son—her blood—and yet he had sealed her away for thousands of years. Trust him? That was a joke.
If anything, she wanted to flay him alive.
Especially with Funan now pouring fuel on the fire.
