Pei Ye didn't lower his head to watch the movement of the dozens of eyes above and below. Clearly, when he saw them, they could see him too.
The illness in his body hadn't dissipated, persistently tormenting him. The body, having just escaped danger, now showed signs of slipping into imminent peril.
Pei Ye leaned back against the tree trunk silently, wrapped the small dagger in his robe and wiped it clean, then held the mirror-like blade before his left eye to observe closely.
In terms of appearance, there was no change; his eye hadn't grown a mouth.
"What are you looking at?" the eye said coldly, as if this action offended it.
"This eye can actually speak." Pei Ye replied.
The eye said nothing more but uncontrollably looked to the right, staring at its own right eye in the mirror.
This expression was utterly grotesque, causing Pei Ye to immediately lower the dagger.
The eye sneered, "Why are you in Xuanpu?"
Pei Ye didn't answer, "Why are you in this eye?"
