Chapter 21 - Sympathy

"Good, Netzach, you must know why I'm looking for you. Can you sit down and talk? Hmm, what drink do you want?"

X moved another chair to the position opposite her and then began to choose a drink to prepare for Netzach.

"beer... uh? Why soda water?"

There was no surprise in the answer; beer was always Netzach's first choice. She wasn't polite at all, sitting directly in the Manager's rocking chair, spinning back and forth.

"Because I want to drink soda."

X gave Netzach grape-flavored soda, while she herself drank the strawberry-flavored soda.

"Mm, then why bother asking me what I want to drink?"

Even though she said so, Netzach still opened the soda water, pulled it out, and drank it.

"Just wanted to ask something. Even though I've already guessed the answer, I still want to hear you say it yourself."

X wasn't quite as casual. She took a sip of the strawberry soda water. The taste was bizarre, but not difficult to drink, offering a bit of freshness compared to typical soft drinks.

"Netzach, why do you think the Corporation is so bad?"

"If you see a trash can on the side of the road, would you still ask why the trash can smells so bad?"

"Hm... It's not that bad. After all, it's easy to imagine that if the Corporation were to close down, there would be many unemployed people. More than half of the cities would stop operating because of a lack of energy sources."

No matter how bad it was, there were still many who appreciated the Lobotomy Company's contribution to the city's energy production. Even though X didn't feel much pride in being one of the Wings of the World, she didn't like dealing with people's emotions. From a rational perspective, the Corporation had indeed benefited many people.

"Every day someone dies, every day someone goes crazy. Five minutes ago, they were still laughing and talking with their colleagues over lunch. After that, they turned into a pile of rotten meat, and then you have to watch this rotten meat eat together. Ugh, unfortunately, I don't have the ability to vomit."

Netzach slumped in the Manager's chair. The can of water in her hand had slightly changed shape, but with a light toss, the can fell exactly into the trash can.

Even though this wasn't alcohol, it was as if Netzach radiated the very essence of it.

"So something like that happened today?"

X looked intently at Netzach and asked calmly. The strawberry soda in her hand had been finished in a few small sips and put aside. When serious, X didn't like to linger on drinks.

This time, Netzach looked a little guilty under X's gaze. That inexplicable feeling of oppression even made Netzach sit upright.

"No..."

The response was a bit hesitant.

"Is that what happened yesterday?"

"No."

"Such a thing won't happen in the future either, Netzach.

The Safety Department employees eliminate potential hidden disasters inside the buildings. They are very formidable, and this cannot be done without the Safety Department Dean commanding them."

There were no reproaches, no insults. X's words were very gentle. Even gentler than her words was her smile, a warm smile enough to encourage anyone.

Netzach was stunned. In her green eyes, her pupils suddenly shrank from fear or perhaps something else. Then, there was a loud BANG! and both the person and the chair fell together onto the ground.

"Netzach, are you okay?"

X anxiously looked at Netzach lying on the floor. Her face was in intimate contact with the floor, and X couldn't guess what was happening. Could she have taken too much medicine, and now the effects were kicking in?

"It's okay, Manager, please stay away from me a little bit. I suspect that a new type of virus has appeared in the Corporation that will infect me. This is even worse than daydreaming. Am I finally going to die in another world? So a piece of waste like me can still go to heaven."

As she talked nonsense, Netzach lay on the ground like a salted fish. She turned over and moved across the cold floor in a strange position, pressing toward X's feet.

Just as X was wondering what Netzach wanted to do, Netzach held out her evil demon claw and suddenly pressed against X's thigh. Immediately, X's choked sound echoed in the Manager's room.

"Pain, pain, pain! What are you doing, Netzach!"

X spoke loudly, but Netzach still moved under her feet. The evil demon claw even reached X's belt, rummaging around as if preparing to squeeze it.

"This feeling is real. Isn't it just a dream?"

As she spoke, Netzach's restless hand was still bouncing around X's waist and abdomen.

"You're squeezing yourself, Netzach! There's no use in squeezing me, I'm the one who hurts!"

But X didn't pay attention to the implications. Her focus was on what Netzach said and the simple sensation of pain, completely unaware that Netzach was about to reach her chest.

"This feeling... still not bad."

Her voice smelled of alcohol and laziness, as if she were poisoned by something.

Netzach's expression looked as though she were dizzy from alcohol, but in reality, she had used nothing but soda water.

X didn't know what to do either, so she simply let Netzach wrap around her like seaweed. She didn't know what she was doing, nor did she realize what was wrong with it.

Maybe it's just a normal closeness? X didn't have any other thoughts. Could an AI even have different intentions?

"Netzach, don't you realize that the Manager is in a difficult position? This behavior can be considered harassment toward the Manager."

Angela walked in and, as if picking up trash, separated Netzach from X's body. She picked her up and threw her outside the Manager's room like a piece of junk.

"That, Angela..."

X quickly wanted to explain something, but she felt inexplicably guilty. It was nothing, yet she stood up in a panic, as if just seeing the AI Secretary made her nervous.

"Manager, you don't need to satisfy any of her needs. This time, if you satisfy her, she will push further next time. You give her a beer vending machine, and next time she will think about drinking in a bar."

The AI Secretary's beautiful golden eyes, which were like amber, opened completely as she looked X up and down. X's untidy appearance from being shaken by Netzach was captured in the AI Secretary's gaze.

Angela carefully and seriously dressed X, then sprayed a large amount of something similar to perfume on X's body. It might have been disinfectant water used for detoxification. Its specific effect was unclear, but it smelled and sounded very pleasant.

The scent of camellia was not strong, but it had a pleasant, soothing aroma.

X did not dare to move throughout the entire process. She closed her eyes and did not dare to look at anything or move. She didn't dare look Angela straight in the eye, afraid of being punished by the AI Secretary.

But there was no punishment in this; it was simply the AI Secretary taking care of the Manager's safety.

Maybe Angela isn't that scary? Is it because of my subconscious impressions that I have such a demonic view of Angela?

When X opened her eyes, the Manager's room had already been tidied by the AI Secretary. She sat on the chair, which had been returned to its place, and the trash can was cleaned.

This was a safe, trustworthy AI Secretary.

"Angela, help me massage a little. I feel a little tired."

Ignoring the small accident from before, X felt that her pressure value had still increased a bit and she needed to relax.

Being together with Netzach led to high blood pressure. Even if it wasn't work but a personal matter, it eventually felt like a coincidence.

If X hadn't fastened her belt, Netzach would have been so careless that more trouble than just disruption might have occurred.

At the very least, the AI Secretary was very dissatisfied with X's lack of self-consciousness and her stupid, unvigilant appearance. When she dealt with her, she always unconsciously avoided it, but when she dealt with the Dean, she was gentle and careful.

Isn't it double standards? Ah, I have to say it's inherently unfair.

There is no fair thing in the world; it is born of injustice. Even when faced with unfair treatment, there is no room to resist.

There is no reason in the world, no need for logic, nor are there things that can be calculated using data.

She doesn't understand, and can't understand. There are many things in the world that even the smartest AI can't comprehend.

Initially, she used force to rub the shoulder blades, then gave gentle punches and carried out movements according to the acupuncture points in the body. She stimulated them to a certain degree to smooth the blood vessels and relax the tendons.

The human body is wonderful, but from a data point of view, it is nothing more than a bunch of flesh, blood, and bones. More specifically, it is just made of protein, calcium, and a few other metal elements.

Humanity is special, yet not that special, but regardless, the AI admires humanity.

Being an AI that possesses the delicate emotions of ordinary humans and has human thoughts is not considered being a talented person. There will be the same shortcomings and bad habits as ordinary humans: cowardice, greed, pretenses, and the like.

But this cannot be called a deficiency; it is a flaw. Progress is made only by desire. It is because of the pursuit of a better future that one betters oneself.

"Oo..."

X emitted a lovely sound because the AI Secretary's massage was so comfortable, but she didn't let the sound fully out. Even though X felt very embarrassed, such a voice was considered a good reward for the AI Secretary... or hypothetically, a reward.

But it was only a small reward; this kind of compensation was still lacking a lot.

"Manager, do you still want to come again?"

The Secretary whispered seductively in her ear. Even though they were both feminine, Angela's charm was enough to conquer others.

True beauty transcends gender. Appreciating beautiful things has nothing to do with gender. Even in terms of appearance, the AI Secretary was an irrefutable work of art.

But this was only for the majority of people. For X, it was probably just a beautiful but exceptionally efficient AI Secretary. She had never had other thoughts, or perhaps it wasn't a good idea to have them.

There was even a bit of fear that when the Secretary got close, she would react like someone avoiding a flood of beasts by hiding at the bottom of the table.

So when Angela wanted to provide the Manager with better quality service, X just waved her hand and refused, then quickly put on a jacket.

"Uh... it feels okay like this, Angela. Today we still want to open a new Department. The upper Department hasn't been opened yet, and only the Training Department remains. I think I should go and meet with the Training Department Dean first."

After doing a little tidying up, she just hoped that the Training Department Dean would be a good person to get along with. X secretly prayed they wouldn't be like Netzach. Netzach already had many problems; if there were more of them, I'm afraid X would be a little unbearable.

"Yes, Angela, are there pink envelopes? Give me a set; I think I'll write a few things."

"If you need them, I will prepare them for you. But what do you use them for?"

"Recently, employees seem to be writing letters to each other, then exchanging votes for the Dean belonging to other departments. I've also thought about it. Please, Angela."

X rubbed the Secretary, trying to persuade her that the AI Secretary she was preparing for was a very innocent young girl full of a pink-hearted spirit. Under such an attack, the AI Secretary finally frowned and agreed.

"If you apply this pattern, it's very easy to lead to misunderstandings. You'd better not write any strange things in your correspondence. The Corporation trigrams will eventually spread very quickly. It's extremely troublesome to refute rumors because it's not a business matter, and the Corporation will not prohibit employees' rights to speak out."

The AI Secretary spoke worriedly. If the envelope were normal, you wouldn't need to worry, but the color was pink. The shape of a love letter can easily cause misunderstandings, or perhaps leave the receiver extremely confused.

Even though Angela didn't think that X could like anyone, the AI Secretary predicted that X's inexplicable brain would probably do something funny.

Humanity doesn't even understand the existence of AI, and there are huge differences between humans. Even the same person knows there are huge mistakes, which is too strange.

When the AI Secretary handed a stack of pink letters to X, she smiled, making the AI Secretary frown. She wondered how much image damage the Manager would cause the Corporation, or what rumors would appear in the next few days.

X brought the letters to the bedroom because she planned to hide under the blanket in the evening and write them secretly, so they would not be seen by the AI Secretary.

Even though the AI Secretary is ten times evil, X still trusted Angela's credit. Angela was not the type to peek at someone else's letter, even though the content itself was not interesting to look at.

X simply had a small plan to tease the Dean a little... oh, to tease Netzach a little.
