By the end of the day, the usual late-afternoon rhythm settles in at the office. Computers power down, desk drawers slide shut, and people drift toward the elevators in twos and threes. Marilena closes her laptop, slips her notes from the walkthrough into her bag, and stands.
As she heads toward the door, Solara catches up to her. "So," she says with a knowing smile, "how did the walkthrough at Ms. Correia's go today?"
Marilena smiles, adjusting the strap of her bag. "Really well. Everything's on schedule. The workers wrapped up all the finishing touches, and it's ready for handover tomorrow."
Sarah, walking just behind them, leans in. "No last-minute problems?"
"None," Marilena replies, her tone warm with relief. "We checked every single detail—paneling, flooring, fixtures, lighting—and there wasn't a thing out of place. It's one of those rare projects where everything actually went according to plan."
