In truth, within the interior of this vast blue structure, conventional methods of movement were rendered completely useless.
In this anomalous space, most physical laws had ceased to function, gravity, friction, even inertia were distorted, constantly shifting from moment to moment.
This made it impossible for Alaric to move in any normal way.
All of this pointed to one of two possibilities: either the entire world was chaotic and anomalous, or he had entered some peculiar secret realm within this world.
Alaric believed it was the latter.
After all, when selecting this plane, Alaric had already noticed that it resembled an Earth-like plane, in other words, it could be considered a parallel version of his home world.
Given that, the universe should naturally possess similar physical laws.
Even if elements like magic or other extraordinary forces existed, they shouldn't disrupt fundamental rules such as gravity.
In short, within this space, Alaric needed to rely on alternative means of movement.
And it didn't take long for him to find the key.
This was a world governed by consciousness, at least, that was how it appeared to him.
The physical body was insignificant here. Consciousness was the true focus, and mages had always surpassed ordinary people in matters of the mind.
With only a brief attempt, he grasped how to soar through this blue realm, how to slip between the gaps of "circuits" to reach other glowing blue blocks, and how to evade the ever-flowing networks of photons to prevent those strange, information-laden blue beams from damaging his consciousness.
At first, he hadn't realized the danger of these blue beams and had once mistakenly moved into their path, only to be struck directly.
The beam didn't cause him any physical harm. The real danger was far worse: it impacted his mind.
The blue beams carried cryptic information that was forcibly injected into Alaric's consciousness, like a flood of useless junk data uploaded into a computer.
It served no purpose and simply consumed space.
Alaric's mind had already been devoured once by "Truth."
Though he had recovered slightly since then, he still hadn't fully digested the influence of Truth and lacked the mental capacity to absorb such garbage.
He instantly realized the threat and began to tread much more carefully.
For him, absorbing a small amount wouldn't be catastrophic, but he couldn't be sure how long he would have to remain in this hazardous place.
Even a trickle could build into a flood.
With that caution in mind, he began to explore the blue world.
One day.
Two days.
Three days.
At last, he felt a twinge of disappointment.
This blue world, this crystalline structure, was simply too massive.
The anomalous laws of physics stripped away his sense of direction. He couldn't even distinguish up from down, east from west.
Well, at least he could still tell up from down.
By sensing the energy flow within the blue structure, Alaric could feel a chaotic, negative force somewhere in this endless space.
Though the malicious energy was faint, the vast scale of the structure and his immeasurable distance from the source allowed him to deduce one thing.
The actual magnitude of the evil energy was far greater than it seemed.
Fortunately, this malevolent force, so different from the other energies around, gave him a reference point.
By observing the intensity of the energy at various positions, Alaric was able to calculate how it diminished with distance, and from that, estimate the lower bound of the blue structure's size.
In one direction, the energy grew more hostile; in the other, it became more pure.
Alaric tentatively named these "down" and "up" in the blue space.
And the blue structure's diameter? At least two thousand kilometers.
The calculations were somewhat similar to optical distance measurement using perspective and trigonometry, though naturally, this malignant energy was far more complex than mere light.
In the end, after several days of probing, this was the only result that gave Alaric even a sliver of confidence that he could leave this nameless zone.
But two thousand kilometers...
For someone now limited to cautious, consciousness-based navigation, it was an unimaginably long journey.
Still, since escape wouldn't be possible anytime soon, Alaric resolved to explore another peculiarity within the blue space besides the malignant force.
It was a domain of "nothingness."
Not that it was truly empty, but rather because, in one direction, Alaric sensed an anomaly in the flow of energy.
In this vast sea of blue, where everything looked more or less the same, the scenery had long lost its impact on Alaric.
Though stunning at first, after several days of traversal, the crystal-blue expanse had numbed his senses.
He abandoned visual observation entirely, there was no useful information to be gleaned from the repetitive sights. Instead, he began relying on energy detection to navigate.
As it turned out, this method proved extremely effective. It had allowed him to detect the evil energy and estimate the size of the space, for one thing.
The other discovery was that realm of "nothing."
The so-called energy radiation anomaly referred to a spot where, in a specific direction, Alaric noticed an abnormal reduction in energy.
Much like a radar sensing electromagnetic waves, within this endless grid of blue crystalline blocks, energy from all directions should have felt more or less evenly distributed.
But as he entered this new region, one direction suddenly showed an unexpected drop in energy intensity, something that immediately caught his attention.
After running the numbers, he concluded that there was a kind of "void" in the energy network, a hollow where the blue energy didn't exist at all.
What kind of place could that be?
Could it be the control core of this blue "computer"?
With that idea in mind, he began moving toward the anomaly.
And then, the scene before him left him utterly stunned.
Crossing the final barrier, he found himself face-to-face with a massive, mountain of stone?
No. It wasn't a mountain of stone. It was a single, massive, solid rock.
But why was there a giant rock inside this blue realm?
And even more bizarrely, once he entered this space filled with the enormous rock, the laws of physics began functioning again.
At the very least, he could feel gravity. He could feel himself standing on solid ground.
He resolved to investigate this strange rock.
His instincts told him that the answers he sought, all of them, were hidden within that massive stone.
