Chapter 482 - Chapter 482: Unleash the Beast™️

[Third Person Pov]

Madeline heard a firm knock on the door and opened it with a puzzled expression. She wasn't expecting any guests at this hour.

She paused mid-motion as soon as the door swung open, revealing Peter and Gwen standing on her doorstep.

"Is something wrong?" Madeline asked, her brow furrowed in confusion. "If you're looking for MJ, she isn't here right now."

Peter reached into his pocket with theatrical flair and pulled out a sleek green-and-black can, flashing an overly confident grin that screamed trouble.

"May I interest you in a Monster Energy drink?" he asked, holding it up like a seasoned salesman on late-night television. "Low calorie. Zero sugar. Packed with enough caffeine and vitamins to convince you that sleep is merely a suggestion. Crisp, refreshing, and guaranteed to make you feel at least twenty percent cooler just by holding the can."

He rotated the can smoothly so the iconic claw-mark logo faced her directly.

"And unlike certain competitors, we don't beat around the bush. We put the word 'Monster' on a Monster Energy drink. That's honesty. That's branding. That's commitment."

Peter gave the can a little playful shake before extending it toward her with both hands.

"So, what do you say? One delicious can of zero-sugar awesomeness in exchange for your complete and undivided attention. Unleash the beast. Side effects may include increased confidence, poor life choices, and the overwhelming desire to punch something dramatically."

Madeline maintained a perfectly straight, unamused face the entire time. Her gaze shifted slowly from Peter's ridiculous sales pitch to Gwen, who stood beside him with a stiff, awkward grin, clearly wanting nothing to do with this bit.

Without hesitation, Madeline closed the door firmly in their faces and walked away.

Peter turned to Gwen with a defeated sigh. "I told you this was a terrible idea."

"I'm going to punch you," Gwen replied, rolling her eyes in fond amusement.

Peter immediately opened the door again and stepped inside without knocking. "Come on, Mother-in-Law, don't be like that! It was just a joke. A joke, that's all!"

"Well, you have a weird sense of humor," Madeline shot back from the living room.

"Amen to that, sister," Gwen said, raising her fist in mock solidarity as she followed Peter inside.

"Just what are you guys doing here?" Madeline asked in exasperation. She didn't mind their surprise visit, but she could tell they had a specific reason for showing up.

"Why do you think?" Peter replied, still shaking the Monster can in his hand. "Your serum is completed."

"He's joking, isn't he?" Madeline questioned, looking straight at Gwen and deliberately ignoring Peter for a moment.

"He's not. It is, in fact, complete," Gwen confirmed with a soft chuckle at her bewildered reaction.

"That fast?" Madeline said, genuinely surprised. "I would have thought it would take longer than that. Like a week… or a month, maybe."

"Here at Parker Industries, we're all about efficiency and getting things done as fast as we can," Peter boasted proudly. "Well, except maybe in bed, where we like to take things nice and slow—Ugh!"

He finished with a pained grunt as Gwen elbowed him sharply in the side.

"Just what is wrong with you? Why are you like this?" Madeline asked, pinching the bridge of her nose in tired disbelief.

"Welcome to one of the seven mysteries of the world," Gwen scoffed, snatching the Monster can from Peter's hand and handing it over to Madeline properly.

"Is this really the serum?" Madeline asked skeptically, holding the can with surprising care. One look at Peter's ear-to-ear grin gave her the answer.

"You can drink it whenever you want," Gwen advised casually, "but I recommend taking it right before going to bed. Tomorrow we'll run some tests to see how it settles."

"Thank you," Madeline said sincerely, her voice softening with genuine emotion. "I really appreciate the effort you've both gone through to do this for me. You didn't have to, but you did… so I will always be grateful."

Neither Peter nor Gwen quite knew how to handle such heartfelt gratitude. They both offered slightly bashful, embarrassed smiles in return, the usual playful energy momentarily replaced by warm awkwardness.

Peter and Gwen returned to Xavier's Mansion in their spider-personas when they heard a loud commotion echoing from the kitchen. Curious, they headed toward the noise and were surprised to find almost the entire X-Men roster crowded around the large kitchen table.

"What is happening?" Gwen asked, barely holding back a chuckle at the ridiculous scene unfolding before her.

Steve Rogers and Logan were standing across from each other, hands locked tightly together in a serious arm-wrestling contest. The atmosphere was electric with excitement.

"Jubilee asked who was the strongest between them," Bobby explained, leaning casually against the wall with an amused smirk.

Kurt stood in the middle of the crowd wearing a comically oversized hat stuffed with dollar bills, holding a makeshift wager book. "Any more bets? It's never too late to place your bets in!"

"Put me down for 50 on the Captain!" Peter called out without hesitation, jumping straight into the chaos.

"You got it, Spidey!" Kurt replied enthusiastically, giving him a thumbs up and quickly jotting it down.

Gwen facepalmed at how easily Peter got swept up in the madness.

"Put me down for 20 on the Captain as well, Kurt, please," Charles added smoothly, watching the spectacle with clear interest.

"Professor!" Gwen and Logan both exclaimed in disbelief.

"What?" Charles said, raising his hands defensively with a small smile. "I'm sorry, Logan. You know I care about and respect you a great deal… but it's Captain America."

Peter grinned and held out his fist to the side. Charles returned the gesture with a matching grin, and the two shared a casual fist bump.

"I'm sorry, but you're both losing that bet," Jubilee declared proudly, standing next to Charles. "I'm betting my entire allowance on Logan. Are you guys forgetting that his bones are literally encased in adamantium? You're all just blinded by nostalgia."

"Thank you, Jubilation," Logan said, shooting the others a look of disdain. "It's nice knowing I can at least count on *someone* to have my back."

Scott stood as the referee, his hand hovering over theirs. "Now I expect a nice, clean fight between you two. No playing dirty, got it?"

"This takes you back, doesn't it?" Logan said with a feral grin. "Everyone always wanted to test just how strong you were, Rogers."

Steve wore a weary but nostalgic smile. "It might have been a long time for you, James… but for me, that was only like yesterday."

"And… begin!!" Scott proclaimed.

The two super-soldiers didn't hesitate. They immediately gave it everything they had, muscles straining and veins bulging.

"You're going down, Captain Celebrity," Logan snarled, a fierce competitive glint burning in his eyes.

"Are you sure?" Steve shot back with his signature determined grin. "Because I can do this all day."

They gripped the corner of the table for leverage, both men grinning and chuckling in low, rumbling tones as the intense match continued. Around them, the entire room erupted into cheers and hollering.

"Come on, Logan!" Jubilee shouted desperately as she saw him starting to lose ground. "You're the Wolverine!! THE WOLVERINE!!"

"I… am… trying!" Logan snarled through gritted teeth. His neck muscles protruded with the effort as he strained against Steve's unyielding arm.

"You're definitely much tougher than I remember," Steve said, still chuckling with competitive amusement dancing in his eyes. "But you're going to need something more than metal bones to win against the undisputed champion of this game."

With a final surge of power, Logan's knuckles touched the table. The room exploded into cheers, though a few loud groans came from those who had bet on the underdog.

"Darn it," Logan grumbled, while Steve laughed heartily and gently caressed his own winning hand.

"Hahaha, it's nice to see some things haven't changed," Steve said with delight sparkling in his eyes. "You still sulk after you lose."

Jubilee dramatically walked over, grabbed Logan by the collar, and began shaking him back and forth. "What the heck happened to mutant supremacy?! I bet my entire allowance on you!! You were my golden goose!" she shouted, tears glistening in her eyes.

Steve could only cover his mouth, laughing warmly at their over-the-top interaction.
