After they devour all the food, Zhang Yu and Feng Tian lean back and sigh in unison.
Staring at the bowl of delicious looking red berries, Zhang Yu thinks a few sweet and juicy berries would certainly top off the delicious meal. He reaches for a berry and XiXi grabs the bowl from him.
With a sly smile she quickly says, "We should allow Feng Tian to have some first, he did kill that fearsome snake."
Zhang Yu nods in agreement,"I forgot my manners."
XiXi is one to pay back twice fold what was given to her, and is still seething a bit from his antics in the woods. I will let him be the guinea pig to test the fruit.
Feng Tian's phoenix eyes sparkle knowingly gazing at her apprehensive expression. He reaches for the berries and politely says "Thank you, Miss."
He twirls a bright red berry in his hand as he savors the flavor of one. "Do you know the name of these red berries?"
She replies, " I'm not familiar, they look tasty though."
"These berries are called Fairy Death because they are beautiful and alluring but highly poisonous."
XiXi gasps and quickly smacks the berries out his hand without thinking and looks at him incredulously. I really didn't want to kill him! Just teach him a lesson for messing with me! What can we do?
XiXi jumps up from the large rock she is sitting on, tripping on the cloak she grabs her father's arm. Her voice trembles, "Get some water! Hurry give him a potion or something!
Feng Tian sits there calmly watching her nervously turn in circles tripping over the bulky brown cloak. He coughs twice and continues "But, I possess a high level of cultivation so the poison won't affect me."
He can still feel the warmth from her little hand and see her eyes get as big as saucers when she heard the fruit was toxic. So cute! It was worth the bitter flavor. "You should let me point out the edible fruits next time you are picking them"
XiXi stares at Feng Tian with a murderous glint in her deep green eyes wanting to slap the infuriating grin from his face. You were there in the woods while I picked them! You...You..
Feng Tian laughs uproariously holding his side, "I'm just teasing you. They are called Fairy Death only because they are very bitter."
Unable to hold her temper, XiXi picks up the bowl and flings it at him. The juicy red berries land on Feng Tian's head and chest. In addition to staining his robes, a few squashed berries are plastered to his mask and long ink black hair.
Feng Tian could easily have deflected with a wave of his sleeve but felt maybe he had gone too far. Let the little wild cat vent her anger.
Zhang Yu laughs at this scene, he knows his daughter's temper. He had eaten the berries before and rather enjoyed the sour flavor. Unfortunately, this situation unfolded too quickly for him to say anything.
Seeing both of the men having a laugh at her expense is too much to bear. She grabs the clothes her father set out for her and heads to the stream she saw earlier to cool off and change.
Could this day get any worse?
