The next morning, the Athenaeum was quieter, the early hour keeping the most dedicated of scholars tucked away in their private studies. Armed with the heavy, iron key Master Valerius had provided, Adrien led them through a series of increasingly ornate doors, up a spiral staircase that seemed to wind its way into the very clouds, and finally, into a small, circular room lined with shelves that stretched from floor to ceiling, filled with scrolls and tomes that radiated an aura of immense, ancient power.
"This is the Chamber of Knowledge." Adrien said in a low voice. "The rarest, most ancient, and most important knowledge there is to find in books is gathered here."
"So far as you know~" Merwyn hummed. "Perhaps there are secret, smaller, more book-y rooms~?"
He said it as if he were taunting playfully...
