"She called you friend and lied?" She asked, softly.

He nodded. "She was a selfish, silly little girl. She knew humans die, and yet she never told me."

"I'm...sorry, Merwyn. But she didn't mean to die. If you were really friends, I'm sure she didn't do it to hurt you."

His face darkened, his eyes narrowing, his expression turning to anger. "She lied. She was a liar." His voice rose, and his hands clenched into fists. "She knew! She knew she would die! Why would a silly girl call a fae her friend and then not say she'd die?" He snarled.

Emily flinched.

It was so.

Unlike Merwyn.

She'd seen him angry, but he usually directed that anger at Mia. It was rare to see him so angry at a memory.

And...

It was sad.

Sad that a memory of a friend, one who had been kind to a young fae child, would become so twisted by the loss of her that he would be so bitter.
