"Sigh… when they wake up and understand what happened, they'll probably complain about us."
Kafka looked at her fallen companions as she spoke.
"Hmph. Just push the blame onto this guy. He's the one who forced us anyway."
Silver Wolf shot Nolan an annoyed glance.
Although, as time went on, she had come to feel that aside from being a bit of a pervert, he actually treated them fairly well.
But betraying their companions had been entirely Nolan's idea. She had no intention of taking the blame for that.
"Ahem… don't worry. I'll explain everything clearly to your companions."
Nolan showed an awkward expression.
Back when he had first captured Kafka and Silver Wolf, he could bully them without a second thought. Now that their relationship had improved, making them bear the stigma of betraying their companions inevitably left him feeling a bit guilty.
Still, Nolan did not want enemies. These loose ends had to be dealt with.
As Kafka and Silver Wolf's affection toward him continued to deepen, their fates had already begun to intertwine with his, making them impossible to observe through destiny.
When their leader, Elio, tried to peer into their future scripts again, he would definitely notice something wrong. At that point, Elio would inevitably try, both openly and secretly, to uncover the truth.
And since Kafka and Silver Wolf only underwent these changes after going to the Herta Space Station, and the only one there whose fate could not be observed was him, the security advisor…
If investigated, it would be easy to trace everything back to him.
Being targeted by Elio did not scare him. However, according to information circulating on the Interastral Peace Corporation's network, this leader of the Stellaron Hunters was highly valued. Scholars on the interstellar network had even speculated that Elio might be an Emanator of Finality.
And from what Nolan had just confirmed using his affection skills, that speculation was correct.
Elio truly was an Emanator of Finality.
So, in truth, Nolan was a bit wary of being noticed by an Aeon. But now, that concern was no longer an issue. Within the "Void Star Sea," no information could be transmitted outward in any form.
As long as he finished bringing them under control, everything would be settled!
Without hesitation, Nolan first stepped forward and placed a "Command Seal" on the unconscious Elio. Then he did the same for the mech girl Firefly and the red-eyed youth, Blade.
Once it was done, Nolan finally let out a small breath of relief.
What came next was simple.
He treated their mental injuries and brought them back to consciousness.
At that very moment, the young man named Blade suddenly sprang up from the ground!
His sword shot forward, aiming straight for Nolan's throat.
Looking at the man's crimson eyes, Nolan smiled faintly and said:
"Stop."
The sword halted instantly, stopping less than a centimeter from Nolan's neck, unable to advance even a fraction further.
A trace of astonishment flickered across Blade's pupils, because he felt no external force restraining him. The reason he had stopped was simply because he had lost control over his own body.
"Kafka's ability?" Blade voiced his guess.
"This is a 'Command Seal.' Far more powerful than mere suggestion or spirit speech."
Nolan did not mind explaining its effects. It served well enough to dampen their will to resist.
At this point, Elio and Firefly had also stood up.
Firefly tried to summon her mech, but quickly realized that although she intended to do so, her body simply refused to respond.
Even Elio tried to use some methods of attack on the level of fate, but it was obvious that his body simply would not obey him. He was completely unable to do anything at all.
Elio's expression darkened instantly, as if he had realized something.
"So it was you who controlled Kafka and the others, using them to lure me here. What exactly is your purpose?!"
Thanks to his ability to glimpse fate, Elio could usually avoid all kinds of traps in advance. Yet this time, it had suddenly failed.
Clearly, there had been no sign of danger when returning to the base. Had he relied too much on this power…
"Isn't it obvious? Since you've already guessed it, I went to such lengths to control all of you for one reason only. I want you to work for me."
Seeing that Elio did not suspect Kafka and the others, Nolan realized that he trusted his teammates quite a bit. That saved him the trouble of having to explain things for Kafka and Silver Wolf.
"I see. So you've set your sights on the power of 'fate' as well."
Elio understood immediately. His ability had long been coveted by countless people, including the Interastral Peace Corporation.
Otherwise, he could not think of any reason why Nolan would target them, since they had never had any prior interaction.
"Of course."
Nolan admitted it casually, then continued:
"However, I'm a good boss. I'll definitely offer you rewards that satisfy you."
"And I won't make empty promises like certain people."
Nolan glanced meaningfully at Elio. From Kafka and Silver Wolf, he had already learned that the members of the Stellaron Hunters had joined because Elio had promised them certain things.
Things that, so far, had yet to be fulfilled.
"The things they desire… do you really think that someone who can glimpse fate would fail to achieve them?"
Elio spoke calmly.
He had absolute confidence in fulfilling the promises he had made.
"Perhaps. But right now, there isn't even a shadow of them, is there?"
Nolan smiled faintly.
"On the other hand, I can help them realize their desires."
He first turned his gaze toward Blade, the difficult man, and said:
"I had Kafka and Silver Wolf tell me about your situation. Blade, what you truly desire is death. Because of the Abundance Emanator 'Shuhu,' your body has been cursed. You are immortal, unable to die no matter how severe your injuries are. Isn't that right?"
"Hmph."
Blade glanced at him indifferently.
"If you can take my life, then what's the harm in working for you?"
"If your life is gone, how would you work for me?"
Nolan chuckled, then continued:
"Besides what Kafka told me, I also gathered some information about you using my own abilities when I saw you just now."
"The reason you desire death is because of your friend's death, isn't it? And in your attempt to bring her back, you made a fatal mistake."
"If I told you that I could revive the dead… knowing that, would death still be your true desire?"
Blade stared silently at Nolan, locking onto his eyes. Gritting his teeth, he spoke each word slowly:
"In this world… there is no way to bring back the dead!"
Even if they returned, they would only be monsters. His heart roared with that thought.
"True resurrection is indeed a miracle, especially for those who have been gone for a long time. But using certain clever methods to bring back someone who has already passed is not that difficult."
"For example… returning to the era before their death, and bringing their soul back."
A faint smile curled at Nolan's lips as he looked at Blade.
