They had reached the estate hours ago.
Now, the peaceful silence of the night had settled in. Everyone was either resting, sleeping or lounging around in the spacious living room, dimly lit by warm lights. Eri was fast asleep, tucked into the large bed she shared with Rei and Fuyumi.
Momo was gently combing Maki's hair as they sat by the window, while Kaina leaned against the wall with a book in hand. Izuku stood alone on the balcony, staring out into the distance, the cool breeze brushing past him.
His mind, however, was anything but still.
Earlier that evening
Flashback No Jutsu
While driving the 7-seater black SUV through the glowing streets of California, Izuku kept one hand on the wheel and the other resting casually on the gear lever.
The soft hum of music played in the background as Rei sat beside him, Eri nestled between Momo, Kaina, Maki, and Fuyumi in the backseat, her eyes glued to the colorful lights outside.
The evening had been peaceful—filled with laughter, ice cream, and the sound of waves. But in the middle of that calm, Izuku's phone buzzed softly in the center console. No contact name. No message title.
Izuku simply took the phone and put it near his ear. There was no noise from the other side. Just a string of beeps—short and sharp.
It was Morse code.
His eyes flickered, his gaze sharp for a moment as he focused on the pattern.

Izuku decoded it quickly in his head.

> ENEMIES: NOMU + ENHANCED QUILLS
> CASUALTIES: HIGH
> OPPORTUNITY: MOVE DURING CHAOS
> GREEN LIGHT: CONFIRMED
His lips curled into a dark smile—cold and calculating, but brief.
Rei turned slightly, noticing the change on his face. "Izuku?" she asked softly, her hand resting gently on his arm. "What happened? Who was it?"
He blinked once, and just like that, the smile was gone. His expression turned easy and relaxed again as he pressed a button to end the call.
"Oh… nothing serious," he said with a small chuckle. "Just some weird cross connection. I think I caught a couple arguing over the phone. Something about the husband cheating or something like that."
Rei blinked, surprised. "Seriously?" she laughed lightly. "That poor woman must've been yelling if it got picked up by your phone."
"Yeah, the fun part being it wasn't just the husband cheating but the wife as well." Izuku said with a chuckle, one hand still on the wheel. "Guess their fight needed an audience."
Rei rolled her eyes and shook her head. "People these days..."
She smiled and leaned against his shoulder. "Glad it wasn't anything serious."
Izuku smiled too. "Yeah," he replied quietly. "Nothing at all."
But deep in his mind, the message stayed burned in—cold and clear.
Strike in 36 hours. Chaos is coming. And I'll be ready.
Back in the car, none of the girls noticed the shift in his expression. Izuku's grip on the wheel had tightened slightly, and a faint psychotic smile began to spread across his face—a grin that didn't belong in a peaceful family moment. A killer's smile.
But just as quickly, he buried it. Eri was looking out the window, laughing and pointing at the shops. Rei's hand was resting over his. The others were enjoying their time—he wouldn't let anything disrupt this day.
Not yet.
Flashback End.
Now, back in the estate, that same cold smile began creeping back as he stood alone under the moonlight. His eyes sharpened with purpose.
"They're going to learn," he whispered, "what real terror feels like."
Day After Tomorrow – Morning
The sun rose softly over the horizon, casting a golden light across the front yard of the quiet villa where they had all stayed. The air was cool, fresh, and held that peaceful stillness that only came with early mornings.
A sleek black SUV waited outside, its engine quietly humming. Momo was already standing near it, dressed casually in beige pants and a pale blue shirt. Kaina was beside her, tying her hair into a low ponytail, wearing simple jeans and a hoodie. Rei stood near the door with Fuyumi and Eri, all three looking fresh and excited, holding small bags in their hands.
Izuku walked out of the house, his red eyes calm but focused. He wore a black long coat over a simple shirt and jeans. His shoes crunched softly on the gravel as he made his way to the group.
"You all set?" he asked, looking at them one by one.
"Yep," Momo nodded, then looked back at the others. "We packed light. Only essentials."
Rei smiled gently, holding Eri's hand. "We're going to visit the places you told us about, right?"
Izuku nodded. "Yeah. You'll start with parts of Arizona—maybe explore Sedona, the red rocks, and then see the Grand Canyon. Then drive into Nevada, check out Las Vegas if you'd like—during the day, it's fun too.
After that, visit some parts of Utah like Zion National Park. Just the easy spots that don't need long hiking or too much time."
"Will we have enough time?" Fuyumi asked, adjusting her sunglasses on her head.
Izuku gave a small smile. "If you stick to the main scenic routes and don't get too caught up at each place, yeah, 3-4 days is enough to enjoy the sights. Don't push it, just take it slow and enjoy."
Rei tilted her head a little, then asked, "Wait… aren't you and Maki coming with us?"
Izuku's expression softened. He looked over at Maki, who was standing just a few steps behind him in black jeans and a fitted jacket. She was leaning casually against the wall, arms crossed.
"No," Izuku said gently. "Maki and I have something we need to do in New York."
Rei looked disappointed. "Oh… something serious?"
Izuku just smiled a little. "Yeah. But it won't take long."
Then a smaller voice cut through the air.
"Daddy… you're not coming?"
It was Eri. She stood between Rei and Fuyumi, looking up at him with wide, confused eyes. She clutched her little backpack close to her chest.
Izuku's chest tightened a little. He knelt down to her level, brushing some of her white hair behind her ear.
"No, Eri," he said softly. "Daddy has to do something important. Just for a day or two. But we'll meet soon, alright?"
Her lower lip trembled slightly. "But… I wanted you to see the big rocks with me…"
Izuku smiled and kissed her forehead, holding her hands gently. "I really want to, too. But this is something I have to do.
And while I'm gone, you'll be my little explorer, okay? I want you to look at the sky, the rocks, the animals—everything. Then when we meet again, you tell me all about it. Every single thing."
Eri sniffled, then slowly nodded. "Okay…"
Maki walked up then and knelt beside them. "Hey, kiddo," she said with a soft smirk. "I'm trusting you to protect everyone while we're away, alright? Think you can do that?"
Eri gave a small nod and wiped her eyes. "Okay…"
Fuyumi walked forward and picked Eri up gently. "We'll take good care of her," she assured Izuku.
Momo gave Izuku a longer look, her eyes filled with emotions she wasn't saying out loud.
Izuku walked over to her and hugged her tightly. "Remember what we talked about," he whispered.
She hugged him back, not wanting to let go. "Just come back safe. All of you. I don't know why, but I can't shake this feeling in my chest."
He kissed her cheek, then pulled away and looked at them all.
"You've got everything—food, maps, extra power banks, emergency contacts?"
"Yes," Kaina replied with a small smile. "We'll check in every few hours too."
Izuku nodded, satisfied. Then he stepped back, standing beside Maki.
"Alright. Go have fun," he said. "Laugh, eat something new, take pictures. This trip's for you guys."
Rei smiled gently. "We'll be careful."
The car door opened. Fuyumi helped Eri into the seat, then climbed in. Rei got in next, followed by Momo and Kaina. They waved at Izuku and Maki as the car slowly pulled out of the driveway.
Izuku stood there watching until the SUV turned around the corner and disappeared from view.
He took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and turned to Maki.
"You ready?" he asked.
Maki cracked her neck. "Always."
They walked back inside together, the soft wind closing the door behind them.
