Chapter 67 - Chapter(62)

Episode(62) Worries of the future! Time to get busy!

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(62)

It was insider information but the sage actually had a disciple before.

No one knew because what happened was extremely embarrassing to the sage.

Unable to bear the extreme training methods his disciple ran away cursing the sage's beard to fall off and for him to go bald.

It was extremely funn- Ehem, extremely shameful so he didn't dare to talk about it in public.

Other's disciples adore them like parents and yet his, if they saw each other they wouldn't be far from natural enemies.

The sage didn't know what she was thinking but he laughed nonetheless.

[Hahaha, don't worry much princess! By the end of my training they will at least be worthy of the title of heroes! I'll rough them up just about enough so they can still breathe after I'm done with em!]

Maria shook her head.

She was completely unable to get through to this maniac.

Concern etched her heart.

Would the heroes even survive this ordeal?

Whatever!

As long as they become stronger what was a little roughhousing?

It was just bringing out their hidden potential and forcing their talent to grow!

At this moment she no longer had an ounce of disapproval and completely agreed with the sage's arrangements.

Although they were brought here against their will, they should at the least put some work in.

Especially since they keep acting like they own the damn place.

At the corner of her eyes she glared at the hero.

Couldn't this gigolo have been deprived of his lower half during the battle?

At this moment she genuinely wanted Sullivan to return and turn this guy into an eunuch.

[But that demon, I wonder why he had shown up in the first place?]

While Maria was hatching devious plans to 'sever' Renji's despicable lineage, the sage asked curiously.

Snapping out of her daze, she looked at the sage.

Confusion was written all over his face as he spoke.

Maria looked up in the sky with a slightly confused expression as well.

Although they had speculated many times they really couldn't pinpoint an accurate guess.

She sighed and spoke in a tired voice.

[Maybe he really was just bored. Don't all demons behave irrationally and indulge in random acts of violence?]

For her, that seemed like a normal thing for demons.

She really couldn't think of anything else.

[True, that may be the case but for such a highly intelligent demon, I doubt he would just cause chaos 'just because']

Sure, it might have just been partly due to the demons destructive nature but the sage believed there was more to it.

When dealing with an enemy it wasn't incorrect to be cautious.

Maria furrowed her brows in contemplation.

[What do you mean?]

As far as she knew all demons were fools who loved war and carnage.

Did they even need a reason for it?

The sage saw her expression and sighed before muttering in a low voice.

[Low ranking demons without much intelligence will attack humans because it's a natural instinct to them. Just by being in their sights you might very well become a target of their tyranny!]

[However it isn't the same for the higher ranked demons. High ranking demons have clear thoughts and hardly think like the low ranked demons do]

Maria knew about this fact.

Lower ranking demons would live by their desires and attack humans as they pleased.

They would cause carnage and bloodshed as they pleased.

No reason was needed.

Only the fact that this was how all demons were.

The sage continued.

[Sure, as a demon they would still only seek pleasure from a good bloody fight, but carrying out meaningless slaughter for no reason wouldn't have meaning as such I don't think that would be the reason]

Indeed.

Maria could see where the sage was coming from and a thought flashed through her mind briefly before she even shook her head.

She shrugged lightly.

How could she tell what a demon was thinking? How preposterous.

[Maybe he was here to kill the hero or something? Really, who can tell at this point...]

She looked around the destroyed building then shook her head helplessly.

The sage also realized that speculating was useless so he shook his head eventually giving up the thought entirely.

Really, if they could understand how a demon thought it wouldn't really be a demon now would it?

He sighed.

[Still, he was strong...so overwhelmingly strong. He just healed after all the attacks we landed like they were all nothing!]

Maria shivered thinking back to the sight.

It was a known fact that mid-level demons and monsters would normally have some amount of healing factor in their cells.

It was somewhat inherent for all demons and one of the reason why demons had an upper hand against the other races.

Even so, how fast had Sullivan healed?

It would have taken even a level 60 demon a few months to completely heal from those wounds and yet he had already healed in few seconds.

It was indeed just a coincidence that Maria caused damage to such an unreasonable monster.

She shook her head.

[Not just a monstrous amount of magical power reserves but also restorative properties and expert martial arts...he's going to be a hard one to beat]

She would have to work twice as hard in the future if she wanted to beat such a monster.

No, she had a feeling that even if she were to put in all her efforts she would still be unable to do much to that demon.

Although gaining strength was a matter of course, she needed even more information.

Just the fact that this unknown enemy popped up out of nowhere and his unknown terms showed that her information was severely lacking!

[Do not worry your highness, I will have the heroes ready to face a legion of those monsters in the future...now I will take my leave]

Maria nodded in gratitude.

[Alright, I'll send the heroes to the location you provide]

[Yes, your majesty]

After exchanging pleasantries, a magic circle appeared beneath the sage and his figure eventually vanished in a flash of light the next moment.

Maria looked at the spot for a moment in awe of teleportation magic before coming to her senses and walking towards Mavis who was not far away.

[Knight Mavis]

At that moment, Mavis had just finished handing out orders to her knights.

Hearing the familiar voice, her expression immediately became polite as she turned towards the figure approaching her.

[Your majesty, are you okay? That battle must have been tiring for you]

Maria shook her hand with a smile.

[No, I'm fine really, so no need for concern]

After taking a high grade healing potion and stamina potion all the damage from the battle had basically vanished.

Although she was still a bit sore in a few places all it would take was rest and another healing potion so she was basically a fit as a fiddle.

[More importantly, I just came to relay my thanks]

To her, one of the main contributors in this battle aside from the sage was the knight Mavis.

In this battle it was obvious the genes of the supreme commander had been passed down to her.

Thinking about how Floren would soon have another supreme knight, it made her smile even brighter than before.

[If you had not acted and fought against that monster who knows of the casualties that would have occurred. Even when I fought, if you weren't present I am sure I would have died countless times over! You have my thanks!]

The gallant and stalwart figure facing the demon without a hint of hesitation still lingered in her mind.

If Maria were to have a role model it would surely be no one but Mavis!

Mavis shook her head helplessly.

[Your majesty, I am unfit for such high praise! If I truly were capable I should have subjugated that demon! I'm just doing what needs to be done as I am a knight of the kingdom...also...]

Mavis looked over her shoulder.

At this moment, Akane who had a worried expression was running over.

Seeing this, the always cold faced commander displayed a rarely seen smile.

Maria took a second before she broke out into a mischievous grin.

'Fufu! Even the ice princess has someone in her heart huh'

She decided not to keep her back and just smiled as she spoke.

[Well in any case you did well, if there is any reward you want be not afraid to speak...I will not withhold anything to your liking]

At any rate it was a good thing for both Mavis and the kingdom if a the two could become close sisters.

No harm would be done so who was she to intervene?

'I was worried since she didn't seem to have anyone around her but she seemed to have found something to protect...I'll leave Akane in your hands Mavis'

Thinking such thoughts, Maria turned and left the venue.

She had too much work to do now.
