Episode(18): Let the real fight begin!
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(18)
The Kanata family Martial arts had three main styles.
Each was so deadly that not only the opponent, even the user would receive a heavy backlash if they hadn't fully mastered the move.
The main reason Nagisa trained martial arts from such a young age wasn't just to start comprehension from an early stage, it was to facilitate the development of a physique that was suited to the styles of the Kanata family.
His comprehension speed was already so fast it took him no more than a week to properly master other martial arts, but when it came to the family arts even he took several years.
It wasn't just about the physical backlash if performed incorrectly, even Nagisa with his incredible learning speed felt that the family martial arts was nothing but someone's wild fantasy.
No wonder, even after they grew to become old men the previous heirs of the family only mastered one style.
But I had mastered them all.
One of these forms was called flow, it was a style that uses deep analysis and momentum to use the opponent's flow of attacks against them.
In this form, you target their weak points, you target their mistakes and steal the flow striking back with double or more impact.
If before I could have said I mastered this martial arts, since coming to this world and having my skills awaken I felt reborn.

Sharp claws tore through the air, however noticing the attack I shuffled away.
Unlike before however I didn't retreat, instead I closed the distance immediately after dodging and grabbed the wolf's arm.
With a tap of his toes and a twist in the air while holding the wolf's arm, blood spurted and bones twisted as the wolfs arm was left completely mangled.
Before he could even fall, Nagisa hooked his leg around its neck and with another twist he flipped it on its back.
Just then, a presence appeared behind me. It was subtle, almost as if it wasn't even there but I definitely felt something.
It was the shadow wolf.
Thanks to its interference here and there during the battle I had already gained a deeper understanding of perception and my 'Awareness' had made improvements far beyond what it was before.
Although there were no level up notifications, Nagisa knew it was only because he was in the boss room.
There were no notifications, however Nagisa knew he was getting closer and closer to another breakthrough.
Before the wolf could even strike an ambush after leaping out from the shadows, I struck an elbow right to its throat catching it off guard.
Thanks to you grew even stronger, but you're annoying so you'll die first.
The wolf gasped for air as it saw the human before it vanish like a ghost. It panicked and looked around in every direction it could but there was nothing.
But, the next moment, like the embrace of a snake, an arm wrapped around its neck grappling it in a chokehold.
No matter how hard it tried, the wolf could not get free. With a bit more strength, the wolf's neck snapped and its body fell limply to the ground.
I smiled seeing this sight.
[Finally the nuisance is dead]
I almost felt like crying, this bastard was causing so much trouble and finally was off the table.

Suddenly, feeling something I grabbed the shadow wolfs corpse and used it as a shield.
Respect for the dead?
Come on, I was fighting for my life, not to mention this was man eating monster.
Fwoosh!
Several balls of fire soared through the air turning the corpse into a half burnt mess.
If this continued the shield definitely would not last. Then, let's attack.
I closed the distance with this thought in mind, but as soon as I got close I felt the earth shift and jumped back.
At the same time, earth spikes rose from the ground just barely scratching my arm.
Ngh!?
Using the momentum, I fell on my back and rolled away.
There was an earth controlling monster among them as well?
Watching the several protruding earth spikes shrink into the ground, I leapt from my spot predicting the next attack.
Sure enough, several earth spikes shot up from the ground.
Turning, I landed and drew my sword while running. Several earth spikes shot towards me through the air from different location making it hard for me to decipher the enemy's location.
As both earth spike protruded from the ground and shot towards me, I could only swing the sword helplessly while grunting.
Damn, I haven't even fought the boss and here I am playing with these scrubs.

Activating perception, my awareness spread out in the surroundings, omitting the useless data fed back to me I traced the source behind the earth spikes.
It didn't even take a second, the traces of mana easily led back to the direction and I prepared to make a move but had to halt my steps and set up my defense against an attack.
Sharp claws clashed against the sword producing sparks. Nagisa positioned his sword to counter, but at that time another wolf closed in from the side and with helplessness in his heart he could only switch from attack once more to defense.
The attack sent me soaring crashing through many trees but I stabbed the sword into the ground forcing a halt. From above, the wolf followed and struck down.
The energy slashes tore through the air, if this attack landed his tattered armor definitely would not save him.
But, such a slow attack would never work against me!
His figure vanished and the wolf felt a chill down its back. The moment it landed it sprinted darting from tree to tree to increase the distance, however-
Whack!
A heavy kick to the head sent it flying and crashing heavily into a tree.
Before it could even recover its bearings, the curved blade tip plunged right through its throat pinning it on the tree.
[Fools!]
Huh?
A voice, unfamiliar yet carrying the dignity of someone in power echoed.
I looked over. It seemed I had battled all the way through the forest and ended up not far away from the wolf king and he was upset by what he saw.
[Can't even manage to rid me off this insignificant cur!]
A human not only trespassed into his territory, but was killing his pack left and right as if he didn't even exist.
And those trash subordinates of his were too much of an embarrassment.
[If this is all ye are worth, you are not worthy of serving me!]
I wiped the beads of sweat running off my brow.
My recovery speed is definitely fast, Mana recovering quickly. But, it was not instantaneous so Nagisa who had been fighting for so long was bound to be somewhat exhausted.
Still, it paid off to see the arrogant wolf king so flustered.
At any rate, playing the long game doesn't seem to be working. I might be able to fight for a long time, however the enemy has forces to whittle down my strength.
Even if I recovery mana, my physical recovery isn't on par with it and it will only increase if I face a life threatening attack or am on the verge of dying. That was a risk I really did not want to take.
But, attacking the king right off the bat seems impossible.
His eyes glanced at the unassuming throne of skulls. It seemed like a simple throne made of bones and skeletons, however the subtle fluctuations of mana couldn't be hidden from his keen senses.
Recalling when he had tried to attack earlier but was blocked, it didn't seem he'd be able to do anything to it.
Then, no other choice.
Let's clear the plate before we move on to desert.
My aura flew through roof at this moment and I drew the ice sword while wielding the other sword in my free hand.
One had freezing cold ice emanating from one blade and the other just seemed deadly for some reason even while looking like an ordinary katana.
The contrast was great but the oppression as even greater.
For the first time, I didn't pour mana into an energy slash but directly into the sword.
Suddenly, I felt as if my abilities were being enhanced and the feeling of growth was almost addictive.
With a laugh to the sky, I leaned forward and vanished from the spot.
Even the boss noticed something was wrong and howled to warn his subordinates but it was too late.
The ice wolf felt instinctively that it was the first in danger and hurriedly put up a defensive wall of ice, but the wolf slayer tore through it like paper.
Then, with a twist before it could even react the wolf slayer carved down vertically causing a spurt of blood.
But the ice wolf must have set up an attack earlier as a rain of ice bullets fell from above, if it was just this he would have no need to retreat but a wall of fire sprung up before and he leapt back.
Spinning through the air, Nagisa landed and bent his knees. In the shocked eyes of the flame wolf, it only saw the human vanish before it felt a pain in its right shoulder.
The sword tore through its arm severing it completely.
Blood spurted and the confusion caused the wolf's mana to stagnate.
It couldn't even react as the ice sword took off its head cleanly from its neck.
With a thud, only two wolves remained.
Fuu!
Taking a breath, I surveyed the two remaining enemies before sheathing wolf slayer. The ice wolf was currently down so I could take the chance to kill the earth wolf.
Although wolf slayer was strong, it's only attribute was its sharpness. Compared to that, the ice slayer could inflict the freeze status unto an enemy.
It was obvious which was better for the situation.
Finally, as the sword was sheathed I stepped out.
The earth wolf was already kneeling in anticipation for any sudden moves so that it could cast earth magic, but Nagisa was too fast.
The ice sword was already causing a spray of blood from its chest before it could even react.
At the same time, the ice wolf spread ice all over the ground and skated towards Nagisa at full speed slashing out its claws.
But the moment it got close, I crouched and spun the hilt of the sword slamming it under its chin.
Seeing its back turned towards it, the earth wolf disregarded its wound and wanted to cast magic but before it could it was turned into an ice statue.
Hpmh, did you think I'd just give my back to the enemy?
The 'freeze' effect had long taken effect when the wound was torn open.
I didn't even glance behind me, the ice wolf had been flung on its back from my attack and I stabbed through its neck before it could even offer reistance.
Suddenly, a huge shadow loomed over me.
??
The moment I turned, what met my eyes was the giant figure of a rock monster.
Was this a golem?
I recalled the abilities of the earth wolf and was shocked it could do so much.
Looking at the giant roaring to the sky, I was in awe, but then it folded a fist and broke the air as it punched down.
Wow!
Grinning, I spread mana to my feet and leapt away high in the sky.
Was this like an ant facing an elephant? Suddenly excitement rushed through my veins.
The fist it threw caused the earth to tremble, but the golem realized it had missed its target.
Bwoh?
It then saw the tine speck in the air and threw another punch.
The fist was large enough to block out the sky. Yet, to Nagisa this was extremely slow.
I twisted and landed on its arm before dashing forward and stabbing the sword tip in its chest to hold myself up.
In fantasy, these things would normally have something of a core. But, there was nothing I could see visibly.
Well, I could just cleave the entire thing apart? Right, let's just do that!
Tapping my feet on its stone figure, I leapt into the sky about the height of its head. A vast amount of mana poured into my sword and I compressed it to the limits.
Slash!
Everything in its path, be it the golem or not was split in two left without an ounce of resistance.
[Now there's only....one left]
The earth wolf looked at Nagisa who landed on the ground helplessly.
The frost around its body was already beginning to wear off, but even if it did there was nothing it could do.
Even so, I still darted forward and stabbed the sword through its chest.
Once more pulling wolf slayer from its sheath, I severed its head killing the final obstacle to the battle.
[Let's not waste time and get to spilling blood now shall we?]
The real fight had just begun.
