Third Person POV
Artic, 298 AC.
---------------------------------------
The journey to Arctic wasn't difficult. In a few hours, they could already see glimpses of the kingdom through the few clouds in the sky as they traveled north of the Wall.
Jon's gaze fell on Cannibal, who came right behind, unable to accelerate much due to the injuries from the day before, so Jon and Eragon kept a somewhat slower pace.
Eragon was a little cautious with the black dragon, but he seemed to finally be getting used to him and comfortable around the larger dragon that had hurt him.
Jon ignored the city and continued descending directly toward the Dragon Mountain in the south of Arctic, which was still under construction by the dwarves.
The structure was almost finished, with platforms around it so the dragons could use them as nests on several levels.
There were also staircases starting from the base all the way to the top, to allow access to the dragons, connected to each of the platforms as they went up the mountain.
Jon began to approach, and his presence was soon noticed by the small local creatures, as almost dozens of dragons started roaring in greeting to Jon.
At the same time, Jon saw some interesting things among the dragons, as he spotted two of his five wives and three of his children with them, the latter shouting excitedly when they saw him in the sky, approaching, approaching the platform where they were.
But soon, Eragon's presence seemed to vanish before the massive black mass coming behind him. Jon could feel the caution of his dragons as they saw the giant dragon trailing behind him.
He decided not to go to the Mountain, but to land near the five buildings with the Valyrian steel forges. While Eragon landed on the ground, Cannibal landed right after with a thud, due to his heavy weight and his inability to land directly because he was exhausted.
Jon let out just a sigh, for being home, as he dismounted, leaving the dragon aside and checking on Cannibal, who still seemed very tired.
"You can sleep for a bit. I'll take care of the rest."
Jon stepped away from the dragon, who was sniffing him the entire time, seemingly forming an even deeper bond with Jon, while he returned to the royal guards, who were approaching cautiously, staring at the enormous dragon in awe and taking position to receive their king with admiration.
Jon walked up to them, keeping a distance to ensure his men's safety.
"Your Majesty, I'm immensely happy that you returned safely." They greeted him.
"Thank you for your concern. No trouble while I was away?" Jon asked as they shook their heads.
"No, my king. You, your family, and the kingdom are safe." He informed while Jon nodded, casting another glance at Cannibal, who hadn't laid down to sleep and was just sitting there watching him beside Eragon.
"I want you to bring a large amount of meat for the dragon to eat over the next few days. He must not be disturbed." Jon said, while quickly passing a written order on a scroll among the royal knights bound for the city.
"My king, are you really all right? You faced that dragon alone?" One of the guards who had remained silent couldn't resist asking right after. "We had no idea he was that big when you said you were going to get him..."
Jon shrugged. "You could say yes. And it wasn't easy. Either way, the dragon has been conquered. He will be used in the war that will save the world." He said jokingly, as he looked at the dragons that were beginning to descend from the platforms.
In the distance, he saw Rhaenys lowering her son on her own dragon, while Seryna was still coming down the stairs with her two oldest children.
She landed on the ground and approached Jon after carefully taking Jaehaerys down from the silver dragon, while her violet eyes shone with curiosity upon seeing Cannibal standing there beside Eragon.
"By the gods, Jon..." she murmured, shocked, while Jaehaerys seemed almost intimidated by the size of the dragon, wanting to hide in his mother's chest.
"It's good to see you again, my love, I'm alive after all." Jon gave a faint smile under Rhaenys's gaze.
"Jon, this is him, then? He really stayed hidden for over a century and a half, the legendary Cannibal... To think he's so big. Was Balerion ever this large?" she asked, curious.
"Almost. Balerion came very close, but he's still smaller than this one. There were only a few dragons in Valyrian history that reached such a massive size." Jon replied, looking at Cannibal, who stared back at him, unsure of what to do.
Jon turned his gaze to his son, who was still observing everything cautiously. He pulled him into his arms from the mother's grasp, while the boy couldn't take his eyes off the dragon.
"Are you afraid of Cannibal?" Jon asked.
"He's really big, Kepa. Did you fight him!?" he asked innocently, turning back to Jon.
"Kepa? You're using Valyrian now? It's not daddy anymore, it's Kepa?" Jon laughed.
The boy looked a bit flustered as he gazed at his father, slightly embarrassed.
"Muña told me I could call her that... and daddy Kepa. It's how our ancestors used to say it." he said.
Jon smiled, giving him a kiss. "Of course you can call daddy that too. Then you'll be my trēsy." Jon announced with good humor.
Jon laughed again as he hugged Jaehaerys tightly and patted his head.
Rhaenys looked at him with a proud smile.
"What is it?" Jon looked at her with a slightly suspicious look.
"Something I wanted to tell you... but we can leave it for later, once you take off that armor." she said.
Jon frowned and immediately dropped his gaze to her belly, feeling something right away as he focused there.
"You already found out?" she murmured, shocked, while Jon gave a huge smile.
"This is wonderful, Rhaenys!" Jon said, moving closer and kissing her, ignoring her disappointed expression at not being able to surprise him tonight, since he could use his powers to detect the life growing inside her.
"Look, Jaehaerys, you're going to have a new little brother!" Jon laughed, while the boy, ignoring the dragon, finally looked at his mother.
"I'm going to have another valonqar, Muña?" he murmured, and Rhaenys smiled, giving him and Jon an enthusiastic kiss.
"Yes, you're going to have one. A little valonqar soon. I'm just afraid... we'll be at war." she murmured.
"Don't worry about that, Rhaenys. You'll be safe inside Arctic." Jon said with a confident tone. She wasn't a warrior, so there was no problem in her being pregnant.
"But I hoped to fight with my dragon..." she couldn't help but say.
"I won't love you any less for that." Jon replied.
"I know..." She couldn't help but smile happily, happy to be having another child with Jon.
Jon looked away from Rhaenys and saw three more people approaching, as Seryna walked with her belly already quite round, and two children—her oldest, Loki and Lyanna.
"Kepa!" Lyanna shouted as she got close, running up to him and hugging him, with Jon having to lift her into his arms. Loki was staring at the enormous dragon in awe.
Lyanna, on the other hand, seemed to ignore the dragon and only looked at Jon, happy to have her father hugging her with Jaehaerys in his other arm.
"So big... What's his name, father?" Loki asked.
"I haven't chosen a name for him yet. But he'll be my new dragon. He'll have a bit of a difficult temperament, since he was a wild dragon for over 200 years..." Jon said, still amazed that the dragon was there, calm, staring at him the whole time, interested in how he was interacting with his children.
"Is he blind in one eye?" Loki noticed.
"I had to do that in our fight, but it doesn't matter now." Jon said.
"Can we touch him?" his eldest son asked, while Seryna lifted her gaze, a little worried for her son upon seeing the monstrous size of the dragon.
"It's all right, my love." Jon reassured his first queen and turned back to the children. "Of course. Let's go." Jon said in the end, sensing Jaehaerys feeling uneasy.
"Are you scared, trēsy?" Jon asked, emphasizing a mix of the common tongue with Valyrian, as his son was doing.
"I... I am, Kepa." he said shyly.
"You don't want to go? He won't hurt you, but I won't force you if you're not comfortable. What about you, Lyanna, do you want to go?" he asked halfway there.
"I want to, Kepa!" she exclaimed, also using the Valyrian title. Jon smiled at his daughter and looked again at Jaehaerys, who seemed to be trying hard.
"I... I want to try, Kepa." he said with some difficulty.
Jon nodded, proud of his son for making an effort to be brave, and they walked toward the dragons, passing the royal guards.
As soon as they arrived, Eragon raised his neck to Jon first, while the children laughed as they were sniffed.
"Father, he's hurt, right?" Loki asked, looking worried, pointing to the spot where there was no armor, with dried blood around other parts.
"Clearly, our friend here wasn't an easy challenge. But Eragon is fine, and now the black dragon is part of our pack too." Jon said, approaching Cannibal after leaving Eragon, while the dragon lowered his head, sniffing Jon and his children like Eragon did, but with more intent.
His head was so massive that they looked like ants before such a creature, while Lyanna, surprisingly, seemed the most excited.
"He's so big!" she laughed, feeling the warm breath from the dragon.
"Can we ride him, father?" Loki wasn't far behind, excited, as the dragon continued to stare at them with his single eye.
"Not yet. He needs to recover. I'll take care of him over the next few days."
"Do you want to touch him, Jaehaerys?" Jon asked, while the boy seemed a little cautious.
Jon took his hand and led it to the dragon, touching the thick skin, while the boy seemed to relax, a small smile forming.
"He's the biggest dragon in Arctic, daddy! Are you going to ride him into war?" Loki asked.
The dragon was so big that they could only touch the jaw area when he practically laid his head on the ground.
"Yes." Jon said.
"Why doesn't he give him a name already, Kepa?" Lyanna asked, touching Jon's face and squeezing his cheeks, like she always did when he held her.
"A name... how about Vezofēdrur? Like, Green Phoenix..." Jon said calmly, naming the dragon, who blinked a few times upon hearing it, seeming to agree with the sound of the words.
They returned shortly after to the castle, where his wives embraced him for returning alive.
"We saw the dragon in the sky! My god, Jon, how could you go fight that thing? Eragon is tiny compared to that black monster!" Ygritte said in a grumpy tone, while Jon gave a closed-lip smile and picked up Brandon from her arms, hugging him.
"Kepa." he said enthusiastically.
"What's going on? Why are almost all my children calling me in Valyrian?" Jon blurted out, asking openly to the small crowd in front of him.
"Dany ended up convincing us to let them call us Kepa and Muña yesterday." Hiyori commented in a serene tone as she held Daemon in her arms.
"And you're here too..." Jon turned his attention to the woman with the child beside his fiancée, while Della gave a small smile next to Val.
"My sister invited me to see your home, I hope that's not a problem, Your Majesty." Della said.
"Not at all, I'm glad you're here to see your sister instead of her always living in your house lately." Jon said with a smile.
"Now, let's go in." With that, Jon moved forward as his whole family headed toward the castle.
"I heard another queen is pregnant again..." Della couldn't help but comment, walking just behind with her sister, while Val nodded—after becoming close, the queens had been talking about many things... and accidentally let slip that Rhaenys was pregnant again.
"He already found out, can you believe it?!" Rhaenys remarked from ahead of the two as she spoke with the other women.
"I told you... it's hard to fool Jon." Seryna laughed.
"So..." Back behind them, Della commented as they walked.
"What is it, sister?" Val looked at her with a suspicious glance, seeing her older sister's smug look and not wanting the other women to hear.
"I mean... are you really going to let him have countless children with them and not want to have yours?" she asked, already raising an eyebrow.
"That will only happen after the wedding." She replied to her older sister.
"That'll happen after the war. That could take years, from what Mance told me." Della complained.
"I have to wait until I'm sure I can raise a child." Val said.
"Val, I don't mean to push, but you're getting older. You should experience motherhood." Della said carefully, worried for her sister. It wasn't healthy to have children too late.
"I already have my nephew..." she said.
"Val, that's important. I love that you care for my son, but it's not the same as having your own child. Val, trust me, it's an incredible thing." Della insisted.
"I'll have to wait for the wedding. That's the only thing I was told." she replied.
"Why don't you steal him? I heard some of his queens were his lovers before they married." Della said.
"Watch your words, Della. Don't say that out loud." Val warned gently.
"All right." she gave a sad smile. "But still, I think you should steal him." she added.
Jon was preparing a banquet with his family, and even Mance and Aemon showed up with Ducken's family after Jon invited them.
Dinner was a bit brief, as Jon later met with Rhaenys on one of the balconies to talk about their new child.
"Shall we spend the night together?" she asked as Jon held her shoulders.
"As much as I'd love that tonight, my lovely wife, I'll have to postpone. I have something to take care of. Can we leave it for tomorrow?" he asked, while she showed a faint glimmer of disappointment, but it didn't last long. She accepted, seeing it seemed important to Jon.
"Of course, Jon. If you say you can't, I understand." she said in the end.
"Don't worry. How about tomorrow we spend the whole day together?" he said.
"Promise? No big tasks for the kingdom?" she asked, a bit suspicious.
"I'll only have an important meeting in the Senate in the morning. I'll be free in the afternoon and evening. How about that?"
"All right, Jon." she said at last, kissing him.
Jon headed to his room, leaving the guards behind. When he entered, he undressed and lay down alone in bed as the light went out.
It didn't take long for a shadow to appear beside the bed, emerging from a hidden place in the room, approaching Jon and placing a knife against his neck.
A smile formed on his face even with the cold blade pressing into his skin.
"Is this how you invite a man to bed, Val?" Jon asked, while Val stood there with the knife to his neck, her expression serious, yet visibly struggling.
"I'm stealing you, Jon Arctic." she said in an equally serious tone.
"I knew someone was in my room the moment I saw you sneaking in." Jon continued without letting his smile falter.
And in the next moment, Jon acted quickly, grabbing her arm and moving the cold blade away from his neck, then seized her and threw her onto the bed, climbing over her with the same grin.
"Val, if you really wanted this, there are other ways to go about it. Honestly, I'd appreciate it more if, when you entered my room, you were waiting naked on this bed." he said.
"I'm trying to steal you..." she murmured, embarrassed, as she let go of the blade.
Jon picked it up and tossed it aside, letting it fall off the bed, then turned back to her.
"As far as I know, I'm the one who stole you... but that doesn't matter now." Jon said, leaning in and kissing her before she could react.
She accepted immediately and responded with her own lips. It didn't take long before she found herself slowly being undressed by Jon. At last, they shared their first night together.
Jon was in the Senate the next day. All the kingdom's ministers were present as they began to discuss the letters that had arrived.
"Braavos is disappointed and furious with us." Gavron read the letter from the city that had reached the kingdom.
"So are Pentos, Myr, Tyrosh... even Lys, ironically. And now we've received letters from Volantis." Junly said.
"There's nothing we can do about that from here. Let them complain. How are our ships at sea?" Jon asked.
"The last ones are arriving now, my king. A few are still returning from Yi-Ti." the minister Darius said.
"I see. Let's just prepare the ship to pick up Arya and the others in White Harbor. Also, send some supplies to the Wall. Winter is coming." Jon said, as they continued discussing war matters.
Jon returned to the castle and picked up Rhaenys, while Daenerys also joined them to head south.
Jon rode in a carriage with his family. He visited Vezofēdrur again and took the opportunity to heal him further. It was good that he was already being well-fed.
He spent the day pampering his pregnant wife while they were on the dragons. Jon ended up sharing the night with Rhaenys and Daenerys, after the latter also demanded her share after spending the whole day together.
A few days passed and Jon received a letter from Winterfell—several, actually.
He read Arya's, informing him about how things were going in Winterfell, who had arrived, their names, the king's surprisingly favorable treatment of her, and the queen's disdain.
She also mentioned the upcoming arrival of Willys Tyrell in the next few days—if he hadn't already arrived by now. Jon couldn't help but laugh at everything happening in Winterfell, while at the same time feeling a certain concern for Arya's safety. Even with the royal guards present, the queen was foolish enough to attempt something reckless.
Especially considering Arya, through her own actions, had managed to defeat the crown prince in a duel, and the Gift was once again under the North's influence, potentially returning to the hands of House Stark.
"Just come back soon..." Jon murmured in the end, in his room while Ygritte was asleep in his bed and their three children also shared the room with them.
With that, he wrote a letter to her and read the one from his uncle, who also spoke of recent events and even asked Jon's opinion about an awkward romantic situation involving the woman Arya had hired as Castellan of Winterfell—which Jon found amusing, seeing his uncle asking for such advice.

Note: We'll return to Winterfell soon.
