Chapter 85 - Chapter 84

664 10/11 2:51 (Autumn, Day, Midrar)

"It's exactly how you think. I made an Artifact that allows me to freely change the color of my Black Blood while keeping all of its properties fully functional." Luna smiled fully, her fangs glowing ominously in the light, almost as if she was gently mocking him.

Mark stepped back, his eyes widening in fear caused by surprise as his knowledge that he obtained through his regression failed him. "But you never…" He murmured to himself, causing Luna's smile to widen even further, her theory confirmed by his reaction.

"Obviously because I never needed to use it in any of our previous fights." She calmly asserted, her eyes full of cruel certainly that caused the Human to step back. "What is this, the tenth fight between the two of us? No, this is the fifteenth, isn't it?" She continued on, a long spear of Blood Flames burning in her hand.

Terrified, Mark stepped back. "Y-you can't remember! It's not possible!" He exclaimed, his eyes wild at the mere possibility that Luna followed him through time, possibility incensed by her having made the Artifacts she was currently wielding, Artifact that didn't exist in any of his previous Regressions.

"You may believe as you feel more comfortable. Reality doesn't change with mere belief, sure, but creating an illusion for yourself is much more affordable." Luna affirmed almost gently before taking advantage of his momentary distraction to lob the spear at his heart.

Mark blinked back into full awareness, his gaze snapping back towards the spear, moving right to turn a fatal injury into what would merely be a grave one, if it wasn't for a wave of force that smashed into him and sending him flying further away from the attack, the only damage he recieved being limited by the force of the throw and a small burning scratch on his shoulder.

With a flare of his Aura, he extinguished the flames that were slowly trying to spread upon his skin, focusing back fully on the fight only to be unbalanced by the Lunarian's deadly yet calm next words. "Do your friends know, by the way? That you failed." The Human stepped back, his expression twisting before her next words made him feel even worse. "And more importantly, that you even discarded them before."

The blonde stilled, trembling slightly as memories from That Timeline flared again in his mind, the Regressor scowling as he forcefully suppressed them, launching a quick lightning bolt to the Lunarian to silence her and calm his own overwhelming need to hurt her.

Said Lunarian merely sighed while shaking her head, launching back her own lightning bolt, this time being made not by Ardent Lightning that shaped the hungry Fire-Attribute into the Form of Lightning but by instead using the Lightning-Attribute itself but being Altered with her No-Attribute Mana, manifesting as a lightning-shaped void.

The two attacks met in the middle of their casters and immediately the difference between Ardent Lightning and No-Lightning was clear.

While the first of the two was specialized in favor of prolonged battles against Lightning by taking advantage of its ability to devour other forms of lightning to create more of itself, the second had a much simpler central characteristic, pure and neutral destructive potential.

And as if to demonstrate said capability for destruction, her black lightning bolt pierced right through the Human's own golden one, the blue-eyed one barely able to launch himself sideways to dodge the attack that struck a boulder behind him, making it explode and sending rocks flying at high-speed all over the plain they were fighting in.

Luna stepped forward, ignoring the raining rocks completely thanks to air-thin tendrils of Black Blood that swung at them from her shadow, her body blurring forward to land a vicious punch to Mark's chest, flipping around to take advantage of his opening for an heel-kick to his head that sent him crashing down to the ground.

Luna flipped again to a more normal position, lining up and immediately launching a fierce axe-kick to her opponent's neck, aiming on beheading him yet resulting only on a crater on the ground, Joules having forcefully taken control of the Human's Aura to send them both flying away just in time.

The white-haired one didn't hesitate, moving to follow her prey briefly before stopping, punching backwards to smash apart a boulder thrown at her back, her head turning slightly to examine the new arrival, the more than two meters tall Human behind her being enough of a physical threat that she was unable to not turn her attention towards him.

Mark took advantage of her distraction to fully stand up, using for a single second his Unique Skill while being careful not to move at all to accelerate his own recovery while not arising any undue suspicions from the Vampiric one.

Without waiting a second further, Grug rushed forward, his frame showing off enough strenght to being comparable to an avalanche, his momentum increasing rapidly as his feet left a trail of burning footprints behind because of the immense heat that emanated from his body.

Luna focused most of her attention on her much bigger opponent, calmly studying him and the dense, almost solid, flames that surrounded him and his heavy-plated armor in a second dangerous protective layer as he launched blow after blow at the Lunarian, remaining a threat comparable to Mark despite his much inferior skill and experience thanks to his much greater physicality, the damaging armor surrounding him and the time that Mark managed to stall to show them the way that Luna fought.

It was only thanks to his efforts, after all, that Grug could force the Lunarian to step back to dodge the Half-Dwarf's blows, needing to be carefull towards both the strenght and range behind his blows, covering her own body in flames to fight back against the heat emanating from the tallest individual present.

Blood Flames condened around Luna's left arm before she blurred forward, her left fist clad in dark red flames intent on impaling the more physically imposing one's in the chest, forcing him to rise a wall of stone in the way to block her strike.

Luna pulsed with her Counterspell, weakening the reinforcement naturally caused by his use of Earth-Attribute Mana enough that her punch passed right through the shield, forcing Grug to retreat briefly, yet only briefly as he well understood that giving her any time to think would be deadly for them.

The rocks she pierced immediately solidified, entrapping her arm in place long enough to create an opening for Grug to strike, his flame-wreated arms closing in on the white-haired one from both sides.

Said Lunarian did not wait, using her trapped arm as a fulcrum to pull herself up and kick her opponent's arms wide away from her, continuing on her spin to land on her feet again and simply pulling her arm from the hole, willingly cutting into her own arm to use her Black Blood to ease this process, coldly viewing it as the most efficient way.

With her wounds still open, she swung her bloodied arm at the Half-Dwarf, striking him in full and sending him flying back only three meters thanks to his reflexes allowing him to anchor himself to the ground.

Earth-Attribute Vital Mana flowed between the Lunarian's hands before erupting forward in a long line of Terran Lightning that crossed the distance towards her more pressing distraction, Air-Attribute Vital Mana soon accumulating around her body before swinging in an invisible yet deadly line that aimed at bisecting the Human's now empty original position.

Noting his absence, Luna opened her False Domain fully, the ambient Vital Energy and Mana around her falling under her complete control and melding together into Vital Mana that was then made to detonate in a shockwave all around her, a wave of force that rippled the ground around her apart, creating a crater and sending both Grug and the hidden Mark flying back from her.

The white-haired one made to move towards her original opponent before being forcefully stopped by steel harpoon raining down at high-speed towards her, forcing her to stop to deal with them and giving her two more direct opponents time to compose themselves for her.

The red-eyed one, having survived the seven steel pillar-like spears unharmed, casually studied the weapons, more precisely both their composition and the quality of their making and the various Runes belonging to multiple Runic Cyphers that glowed softly.

That was after all most of the purpose behind the Runes in on themselves, to take advantage of the Lunarian's natural propensity towards being easily distracted by new things, especially if she could learn new things from them.

Mark and Joules immediately worked together releasing a long branching wave of Lightning-Attribute Mana towards the Lunarian, striking one of the spears instead as she dodged and demonstrating the secondary objective of the steel pillars, being deflected outwards from it and forming a cage between the seven harpoons made by static electricity alone, trapping Luna.
