Lying next to death
Still in my bed
I wrap our blanket around my legs and turn
Into him
There is a stillness in the air
That is faster than I can see
And everything steadies
As his ghastly hand under cloak
Covers me up
As he casts upon me comfort and serenity
Holding my soul close
So close
And I do the same
He is boney and angular
But soft
And firm
And I close my eyes
I love death
