Baharo had always been confident in his sense of smell. As a member of the Hounds and an outstanding figure among Hunters, he knew that without mastering his Secret Sensing Skills to perfection, he would struggle to hold his ground among a group of discerning Hunters.
At this moment, however, Baharo couldn't detect any scent at all on Guru Mountain. Calling this place a dead mountain didn't seem an exaggeration. Yet, the tall, thriving pine trees seemed to tell him it wasn't that simple. So, he carefully approached a pine tree leaning against the mountain path and sniffed. Still, he found nothing.
Theoretically, any object would leave a residual scent; even Dead Objects would retain some trace of an odor. While Baharo's nose might not be able to discern the full story from Dead Objects, it was still quite effective for most ordinary things.
But now, he couldn't smell anything on this mountain. It was as if his nose had suddenly stopped working.
