The rain began to drizzle down, and Samuel Johnson gripped the steering wheel with fingers that were trembling slightly. Amanda Smith leaned against the passenger seat next to him, her face pale and clearly in severe pain, yet she was still comforting him, "Don't be scared, Samuel, I'm okay..."
Samuel Johnson bit his lip tightly and didn't make a sound.
He was afraid that if he opened his mouth, he would reveal a crying tone.
The rain got heavier, and after speeding through several red lights, Samuel Johnson discovered there was a traffic jam ahead!
His eyes reddened with anger. He quickly turned the car around to take a side road. Next to him, Amanda Smith was breathing faintly, her brows deeply furrowed, showing she was enduring tremendous pain.
He hated that he could not suffer in her place.
Terrible thoughts kept swirling in his mind. What if Amanda Smith died from a difficult labor?
What then?
Such thoughts were nearly driving him insane.
