Thomas Smith's deep voice carried an unmistakable seriousness, causing Olivia's heart to skip a beat.
"What's going on, second brother, tell me."
Thomas kept his gaze fixed on her eyes and asked:
"You had Night Eagle watch Helen Melendy—was it really just because you fancy Harry Hall, or are you keeping something from me?"
At his words, Olivia's heart sank. She hurried to explain, but Thomas beat her to it, saying:
"Olivia, you must answer me honestly; otherwise, if our eldest brother finds out anything, I really can't help you."
His serious gaze locked onto Olivia's panicked eyes, adding, "Do I need to remind you what kind of person our eldest brother is?"
Olivia thought of Edward Smith's face, and her heart involuntarily trembled. Yet, she gritted her teeth and refused to tell Thomas the truth, only looking at him sorrowfully and responding:
"Second brother, now everyone in the family except you doesn't trust me. Are you going to doubt me too?"
