He suddenly felt a bit of regret. Even if it was to get back at Kris Cooper, why did he have to take risks with Barker? If anything went wrong, Barker would be affected too.

The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became. Nathan Leafcastle's mood grew increasingly irritable.
"Nathan, is there something on your mind?"
Sally Dalton's inquiry didn't calm him down. Nathan Leafcastle took a deep breath and stood up from the sofa.
"I just remembered that there's an email I haven't replied to yet. I'll go do that first."
The man quickly left and hurried upstairs.

Standing up and watching his back, Sally Dalton opened her mouth, wanting to call out to him but did not speak in the end.
She knew Nathan Leafcastle; this man wasn't fond of talking much. If he didn't want to talk about something, pressing him further was meaningless.
