These five words were shouted by Nathan Leafcastle, a man usually calm and composed, his voice sharp and hoarse, filled with endless pain.
Liliana Davis lifted her face, staring at her son on the stairs, reeking of alcohol, his clothes wrinkled and his face pale. She took a deep breath and walked up to him, stopping on a step before him, speaking gently.
"It's just a woman, Nathan. You need to understand that losing some things isn't all bad."
"Haha..." Nathan Leafcastle chuckled, "Just a woman?"
His laughter grew louder and sharper.
Perhaps to others, Vera Wave was just a woman, but to him, she was someone he had cherished since his first stirrings of love, a person he had longed for over a decade, and yet all ties were cut with just a phone call.

Turning, he headed upstairs, laughing all the way, tears spilling from his eyes, until his laughter turned into sobs.
