"No," Vera Wave spoke seriously. "She pushed me and I pushed back; we're even."
"No!"
Kris Cooper's face was full of determination.
He could hardly bring himself to lay a finger on his woman, even when she infuriated him to no end. He couldn't abide the fact that the damned girl had pushed her into the fish pond. He wouldn't let it go.
Watching the dark expression on the man by her side, Vera couldn't help but frown. If they really went, who knew what kind of trouble this guy would cause? After all, Ria Chapman's father was a shareholder of Glimmer. If Kris Cooper caused a conflict with the shareholders because of this incident, her culpability would be immense. He was so good to her; she couldn't cause him trouble.
Seeing the car stop at a red light, she reached out, laid her hand on his arm, and softened her voice.
"I... I'm hungry. Can we go eat?"
Kris Cooper saw through her ruse and smiled affectionately. "Don't worry, nothing will happen."
