Standing not far from the bedroom door, Vera Wave wasn't affected, only startled with a jolt.
Outside the building, Tommy Taylor was carrying his luggage, about to go upstairs. Seeing Kris Cooper storming down the stairs, he quickly stopped in his tracks.

Ignoring him, Kris Cooper rushed out of the stairwell, opened the car door, and got in.
"Drive!"
The driver glanced at his expression, and without daring to wait for Tommy Taylor, started the car and drove out of the community.
Tommy Taylor stood there with the suitcase, utterly baffled.
Just now, everything was so cheerful. He had even taken a detour to Lucky Restaurant to pick up the porridge they ordered before the flight. How did things turn like this the moment he stepped inside?!
Watching the car drive away, he picked up the suitcase and headed upstairs.
