He reached out to shield her, speaking with stern resolve, instantly suppressing the momentum of those people.
In the next moment, he pulled her away, leaving the security guards and Public Relations Department staff to handle the situation.
He led her into the elevator.
Sofia Hamilton shook off his hand and said distantly, "Thank you."
Her forehead throbbed painfully; when she looked down at her hand, there was blood.
Arthur Baker noticed and quickly stepped forward. "You're hurt?"
"Let me take a look."
He was about to brush aside her bangs to examine it, his gesture tender, protective, almost reminiscent of old times—a warmhearted, caring brother.
But it was all an illusion.
Sofia avoided his affectionate gesture, stepping back. "I'm fine."
"You're bleeding—how is that fine?"
"What does this have to do with you?"
"Sofia, can we at least remain friends? Can't I show basic concern? I'm just worried about your injury."
