Chapter 57 - 57. Blood Beast

Seeing this those eyes, Chu Yan's hand rested lightly on the hilt of the sword hidden beneath his long jacket. The tension in the air was palpable, the shadows shifting ominously around him. Suddenly, a low growl rumbled through the alley, and Chu Yan stopped in his tracks, his eyes narrowing.

From the darkness ahead, four massive figures emerged. They were monstrous, wolf-like creatures, standing nearly three meters tall. Their fur was matted and dark, and their eyes glowed with a sinister, bloody red light. The beasts bared their fangs, snarling as they fixed their malevolent gaze on Chu Yan.

"A night wolf? No, a night wolf size is not this big, and they cannot stand two feet like humans; is it mutated?" Chu Yan muttered, feeling something wrong with these beasts.

Without hesitation, Chu Yan drew his sword, the blade gleaming in the dim light as it slipped free from its scabbard. At the same time, these wolf-like creatures lunged forward with terrifying speed, their claws slicing through the air toward Chu Yan.

Unfortunately, Chu Yan was faster. With a single, fluid motion, he sidestepped the beast and brought his sword down in a sweeping arc. The blade sliced through the wolf's thick hide with a sharp, metallic sound, severing its head from its body in one clean strike.

Blood sprayed through the air, but Chu Yan did not falter. Sensing the attack from the second wolf, which was slashing its claws toward his chest, he spun around. The wind howled around him as he swung his blade, now coated with a sharp gust of wind, aiming for the creature's upper leg.

The beast howled in pain as his sword cut deep into its flesh, and with a final thrust, Chu Yan drove the blade through its heart. The wolf crumpled to the ground, its body convulsing before it lay still.

The remaining two wolves circled him cautiously, their red eyes filled with a mix of fury and fear. They attacked simultaneously, one from the left and the other from the right, trying to overwhelm him with their sheer size and strength.

Chu Yan remained unfazed. He leaped into the air, twisting his body with practiced grace to evade their strikes. As he soared, he intensified his attack. The blade emitted a faint green glow, and the wind roared around it, amplifying its power.

He landed behind the third beast, his blade slashing upward as he descended. The sword cut through the beast's spine, severing it with a sickening crack. The creature let out a final, pained roar before collapsing to the ground, its body twitching as it succumbed to death.

The final beast hesitated, its blood-red eyes flickering with uncertainty. Sensing its impending doom, it let out a roar of defiance. A bloody aura surged from its body, causing the surrounding plants to wither and die in its wake.

Chu Yan leaped to avoid the burst of power emanating from the beast. As he watched the scene unfold, a frown creased his brow. "As I suspected, this isn't a normal wild monster," he mused. "The fact that it targets only me, and not the others, indicates that someone must be controlling it."

With a roar, the beast lunged at him, its claws outstretched. Chu Yan won't let it outmatch him, as he met it head-on, his sword flashing in the darkness. The blade pierced through the beast's chest, driving deep into its heart. Even though its heart had been stabbed, the creature's momentum carried it forward, pushing Chu Yan back a few steps, but expression remained calm. He twisted the sword, and with a final burst of energy, he withdrew the blade, letting the beast fall lifeless at his feet.

Chu Yan then turned around as he inspected these corpse. What shocking Chu Yan is that after this beast died, it released a dark aura, as if it want to corroded everything. After a few seconds, those corpse turned into a dark, red liquid on the ground.

What shocked Chu Yan was that after the beast fell, it released a dark, corrosive aura that seemed intent on tainting everything around it. Within seconds, the lifeless corpse began to dissolve, transforming into a dark, red liquid that pooled ominously on the ground.

Seeing this, Chu Yan frowned. Based on his memory, there never been a case where monster corpse turned into liquid. Then, Chu Yan took out his as he sent message to Lin Mei, known as Sister Lin.

Suddenly, a slow clap echoed through the alley, breaking the silence. Chu Yan's head snapped toward the source of the sound. Two figures emerged from the shadows, their forms tall and imposing. They were clad in dark robes, their faces obscured by hoods, but Chu Yan could sense the power radiating from them.
