"BATTLE START!"
Izuku dodged to his right, powering up One For All to 25% hoping that it would be enough to counter Todoroki. The boy in question sent out his largest glacier yet, going straight towards Izuku's original position. Izuku was slightly relieved it wasn't going straight towards him but powered his right arm up to 40% just in case before punching.
His attack left a shockwave that shattered the glacier into small chunks. Letting his arm heal, Izuku used his other arm to activate 'Divinity', sucking up the ice shards to collect energy. As he finished taking in the ice, Izuku noticed that his arm healed faster nearer the end. His eyes widened at what it could mean.
" WOAHHH WHAT A HIT! " Present mic screeched through the tv screen. " He blew up the entire iceberg and sucked it in to power himself up!"
Shigaraki groaned; he hated it when that green haired brat did something cool. "I still wish he burned up in that fire." He scoffed.
"I'm still surprised he managed to survive it. I didn't think the base form of 'Super Regeneration' could surpass anything that powerful without multiple copies or further modifications." All For One hummed; Shigaraki hated that his master seemed impressed. " I wonder if he found a way to train up the quirk, that fire had to be at least 2,000 degrees."
"Who cares, I just want this garbage over with anyway." Shigaraki moaned, sliding down into his seat.
"Now now, Young Tomura. It's best if you watch closely." All For One chided, making the boy sit up straighter. "I have a feeling these two will both be powerful adversaries to you in the future."
Izuku smiled, looking up at Todoroki as the boy sent another wave Izuku's way. Izuku quickly jumped into the air, his left leg powering up with 30% of One For All. He kicked at the shards of ice, hissing slightly as his now broken leg roughly smashed through the glacier.
Using his wings to stay in the air, Izuku let his leg slowly heal. He huffed heavily as he slowly made his way back to the ground.
"You're insane…" Todoroki breathed out, a frosty mist coming from it. He sent another glacier at Izuku, this time taller and thinner but at a faster speed. Izuku responded by pulling out 'BlackWhip', using the One For All enhanced power to smash through the glacier, bisecting it.
He let it fall towards him, powering up to 15% One For All and smashing through it. "Is that all you've got." Izuku smiled.
"What are you…" Todoroki huffed, before realising what Izuku was doing. "You're turning this into an endurance match?" He looked on, scowling as Izuku just smiled at him. "Then I'll make sure to end this quickly!"
Todoroki sent out another barrage of ice. Izuku quickly destroyed it, but winced as he realised that his right arm wasn't healing right. He didn't have time to think on it, however, as Todoroki quickly appeared through the mist sending out a low row of spikes at Izuku.
Crossing his arms, Izuku activated 'Bone Armour' only getting pushed back by the advancing ice spikes instead of impaled. He noticed Todoroki ready up another wave of ice and decided to stop it early by throwing a punch with One For All. Forgetting to regulate his power meant that Izuku's arm became even more busted, he looked down to see it leaking blood through the torn purple and red skin.
"It looks like you're starting to reach your limit, continuing like that can't be good." Todoroki huffed, stepping towards Izuku once again. Izuku looked up from his broken arm, smiling as he saw his opponent. Todoroki's right side had patches of Ice covering it, and the boy looked to be shivering. His plan was working.
"Thank you for this, Midoriya." Todoroki huffed out, "My old man looks pissed… you shouldn't fight anymore with your hand in that condition, I'll finish this quickly."
He sent out one last blockade of ice with the intent of finally pushing Izuku out of the arena. What he didn't expect, however, was Izuku to smash through it, the shockwave from his 'Divinity' powered punch throwing the ice shards back at Todoroki.
"Who do you think you're fighting, Todoroki?" Izuku growled out. "I'm your opponent, not your father. He doesn't matter!"
Izuku slowly took a step closer to Todoroki. "You're shivering. It looks like I'm not the only one doing damage to myself." He yelled, wincing as he tried to clench his battered fist. "You've not done a single bit of damage to me!" He threw his non-broken hand out, using 'Divinity' to suck up some of the ice shards.
Izuku grinned as his hand healed ever so slightly, the pain dampening enough for Izuku to keep fighting. "Todoroki, our quirks are just like any other bodily function. There's a limit to how much of your ice you can take." Before Todoroki could respond, Izuku summoned 'BlackWhip' to grab a chunk of ice and throwing it at Todoroki.
" WOAH, AND MIDORIYA GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE!"Mic roared as Todoroki sloppily dodged away from the ice, getting cut by the edge of it.
"Look, you're even being slowed down." Izuku grinned hungrily, like a predator that's cornered his prey. "You do have a way to fix that, though. If you just used your fire."
"So that's what this is about," Todoroki spat out. "Did my father put you up to this? What did he bribe you with, his quirk?!"
"I told you; he doesn't matter!" Izuku growled out. "Everyone's given it their all today, yet you refuse to even try!"
Izuku charged towards Todoroki, activating 'Iron Claw' in his good arm and swiping at Todoroki. The two-toned boy blocked with walls of ice, but due to his draining stamina they were thin enough to be sliced apart by Izuku's claws, letting him inch closer.
"Come on, Todoroki. Fight me!" Izuku yelled, switching his activated quirk to 'Bone armour' as he ducked low, avoiding Todoroki's lagging swing. Izuku sent out his left leg, the bone covered appendage swiping at Todoroki's legs making the boy fall back.
"Your ice is getting weaker…" Izuku frowned, jumping into the air. Todoroki quickly used his ice to push himself to the side. "It's FAILING YOU!" Izuku growled, stomping into the ground, creating cracks that broke Todoroki's ice and sending the boy crashing. "…all because you refuse to use your fire."
"I… I told you," Todoroki coughed out, struggling to get to his knees. "I refuse to use that man's fire, I don't need it-"
"IT'S NOT HIS FIRE!" Izuku roared, shooting out a 'wave motion' blast that sent Todoroki to the very edge of the arena.
"Uhm, should we stop them, midnight?" Cementoss questioned into his earpiece. " They're completely destroying the arena, and with that arm any more attacks could bring Midoriya down."
"Uhm," Midnight muttered, watching Izuku blow another chunk from the ground. Seeing that Izuku's arm wasn't healing, she guessed that he must be running on pure adrenaline and the hope that Recovery Girl could heal him. She knew a mindset like that could be dangerous for both boys.
"Yes, do it-"
" No, keep it going." Aizawa cut her off.
" What the hell do you mean keep it going?" Midnight asked worriedly.
"He's not being unreasonable." Aizawa mumbled in response, though it sounded more like he was saying it to himself than to her.
Having such a clear view of the match, Aizawa could tell that Izuku was holding himself back so that he used just enough power to do what he needed to. He could also tell that even with the adrenaline rushing through Izuku, the amount of pain he must be feeling would be overwhelming, meaning Izuku had something he had to do, and an incredibly strong resolve to see it through.
"What the hell is driving that boy?…"
"It's not his fire, it's yours." Izuku panted, taking a wobbly step towards Todoroki. He still had the advantage but felt the pain from his arm starting to come to the forefront of his mind.
"Why… are you doing this?" Todoroki rasped out, getting up to one knee.
"Because I want to be like him. I want to save people with a smile…." Izuku grinned sincerely, before it turned fierce. "And how can I do that if I can't save you, even from yoursef!"
Izuku used 'light attraction' to pull Todoroki's foot from under himself, making him fall over again. Before he could fall out of bounds, Izuku used 'BlackWhip' to grab the boy and throw him to the other side of the arena.
"The fact that you think you can be the number one hero while holding yourself back just to annoy one person, it's a joke!" Izuku yelled, using 'explosion' to destroy the tiny ice spikes Todoroki sent towards Izuku.
"Shut up!" Todoroki yelled with a scowl, his right side freezing over more and more as he sent out weaker and weaker barrages of ice that kept being blown up. Memories of his training with Endeavour, and his mother trying to protect him, kept coming into his head, making him angrier and angrier.
"Use it! Use your fire to help yourself!" Izuku growled out, activating One For All.
"My father's fire-"
"It's YOUR fire!" Izuku yelled, leaping straight towards Todoroki, reading a Kick. "YOUR POWER, NO ONE ELSES!"
The words brought back one memory to Todoroki, one that he seemed to have forgotten over the years. His mother sat beside him, healing a burn on his arm as a young Todoroki watched an interview with the top hero, All-Might.
The hero talked about how quirks may be inherited from parents, but what makes a quirk special is how each individual makes it unique to themselves.
Todoroki remembers asking his mother if he has to be a hero that hurts people, like his father. Then his mother making him promise to be a hero all for himself, one that he'd be proud of.
He's brought Back to the fight by the flashes of lightning Izuku gave off as he approached the boy. Todoroki sent up a pillar of Ice in front of himself, giving him time to dodge Izuku's kick.
Izuku noticed the boy look contemplative and decided to send a 'wave motion' blast to him "Come on, Todoroki. It's your power to do anything you want, SO WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE!"
Both Izuku's blast and his speech was cut off by a wave of hot fire scorching the air and ground in front of him. Izuku flew back, making sure his wings didn't burn.
"I want to be…" Todoroki breathed out, the ice on his skin melting away as his flames surrounded his left side. "I want to be a hero!"
"I don't believe it, he's actually using it!" Kirishima yelled out as he felt the beat radiating from the arena even half way into the crowd.
"Oh god, I can already feel something going wrong." Jiro groaned, wiping sweat from her head.
"YES, SHOTO!" Endeavour yelled out. Hopping over the railing and walking down the stairs in the guest seating areas. "You've finally accepted yourself! Excellent!"
He kept walking down, undisturbed by the increased heat as he made it all the way to the front row barriers. "You can finally learn to surpass me and realise my ambition!"
" Wow, what an unexpected development!" Mic roared. " As well as a very unexpected pep talk from endeavour… what a doting father."
Izuku stared in awe as waves of flames flew from Todoroki, the dance of the flames nearly capturing him in a trance.
"So, even though you want to win, you go out of your way to help your opponent?" Todoroki smiled lightly, sending a blast of fire at Izuku. "Which one of us is really joking around, huh?"
Izuku just laughed, using 'Divinity' to suck up the fire, healing his arm a tiny bit more.
"Why are you laughing?" Todoroki asked, pushing his fire to burn even hotter for a final attack. "With that arm I doubt you'll last much longer… so let's finish this."
"Sounds good, Todoroki!" Izuku laughed, using 'Divinity' to such as much fire up, focusing so that he built up power instead of fuelling 'super regeneration'.
"Midnight!" Cementoss yelled crouching down and sending as much cement that he could between the two boys, sensing the incoming impact. Midnight responded to his call by ripping her sleeve, creating as much of her sleep mist as she could.
"Thank you, Midoriya!" Todoroki yelled, his flames becoming brighter as he readied his blast.
"Don't thank me just yet!" Izuku responded, stopping 'Divinity's suction and instead pushing all the energy into his blast.
The two boys finished powering their blasts, not noticing the multitude of cement walls forming between them as Todoroki's fire covered the closest ones to him and Izuku's shockwave disintegrated the ones closest to him. The two attacks met in the centre of the arena, creating a tornado of wind that reached hundreds of metres above the ground and covered the entire arena in smoke.
The crowd watched in shock as the tornado pulled at them, quickly disappearing as the arena turned silent.
" Holy… what an explosion, how'd that happen!?" Mic asked, looking down at the broken glass in the announcer's booth windows.
" The cold air was quickly expanded due to the heat generated from Todoroki's fire… Midoriya's air blast is what caused the tornado most likely." Aizawa chimed in.
"I know giant shows of force aren't always the best thing, but that was incredible…" Cementoss groaned, getting up after being blown back from the blast.
"Ugh…" midnight moaned, getting up from behind her podium. "Can anyone see anything?"
Slowly the smoke started dispersing, slowly revealing the two boys.
The first one revealed was Todoroki, surrounded by a large throne of ice. The entire left side of his top had burnt to ash, and he looked like he was nearly unconscious. He groggily looked around, unsure if he was still in bounds.
The first sign of Izuku that anyone saw was tendrils of 'BlackWhip' digging into the ground, stretching into the smoke. As the smoke continued to clear, Izuku came into to view. He had fallen back onto his knees, and it was obvious that 'BlackWhip' was the only reason he was still barely in the ring.
He slowly looked up, breathing heavily as he looked to his opponent. He wasn't sure what would happen now, stumbling as he tried to get to his feet so he could approach Todoroki.
As he steadied himself, Izuku watched as Todoroki also tried to approach Izuku. He too stumbled. However, unlike Izuku, when Todoroki fell to the ground he didn't get back up. Izuku paused, waiting for anything to happen.
"… Todoroki is unconscious, MIDORIYA IZUKU WINS!" midnight announced, the crowd roaring as Izuku stumbled again, falling to his knee. He smiled, raising his non-broken arm before falling over, passing out.
" Well, that match was quite the spectacle." All For One hummed.
"Meh, I'm just glad that the cheat finally got hurt." Shigaraki scoffed, taking a drink of whatever it was Kurogiri gave him; he wasn't too sure. "It's good to know that regeneration he has can be overcome."
" Yes, however remember that after this battle it's strength will increase. By the time you next face him, Izuku will be a very formidable foe." All For One reminded him, using a telepathic quirk to pull a bottle of whisky to him.
"Do you think he'll be able to fight in the final battle?" Shigaraki asked. He was hoping that the cheating brat wouldn't, since such a weak way of not winning would be perfect.
" Oh, I'm sure he'll be able to, he's resilient." All For One nonchalantly shrugged.
"Ugh, I don't get why you're routing for the cheat! I'm going to the bathroom." Shigaraki groaned, getting up and walking away.
"…well for starters it seems my little brother found a new host," All For One grinned gleefully to himself. " I knew those tendrils were familiar. Such an interesting choice for a host too…"
"Madame president!" A man in a suit yelled, barging into the HSCP's president's office. It was a very normal looking office, grey walls with a single bookshelf and the president's desk with a couple chairs for visitors. As normal as it was, it was often called too normal, too clean, or straight up unnerving. It gave off the feel as something for show, instead of a lived-in space.
"What do you want?" Madame president scowled, looking up from her laptop. "I'm working, this better be important."
"It is," the man said, rushing to her desk and putting the tablet he was holding onto her desk. "You said to inform you if anything unexpected happened during the UA festival."
The president paused, slowly taking the tablet and playing the video on it. It seemed to be a compilation of small clips focusing on a green haired boy with wings, nothing too impressive. That was, until she saw him battle.
Throughout the video she saw him fly, change his face, generate explosions, use a multitude of different strength and blast attacks, he used energy tendrils and even survived sitting in fire. What really shocked her was him generating a tornado, twice.
"…Who is this boy?" She asked, her voice quiet. The last clip was of him facing a boy with a metal claw quirk, then the green boy later showing off metal claws of his own.
"We looked him up… his name is Midoriya Izuku, 18. Lives with his mother, no father in the picture."
"I don't care about that! his quirk, what is it!" Madame president growled out, roughly dropping the tablet back onto her desk.
"W-well, Madame president… it's confidential." The man told her, after aid to look her in the eyes.
"…Under who's authority?" She asked, her tone sounding unusually calm.
"…Also, confidential." The man quickly said, stepping back.
Madame president sighed, sitting back in her chair and turning to look outside her window at the city skyline. "Well, we can deduce that it's some kind of Meta-quirk, likely a copy type. But one that can hold so many copies for as long as he does… Is the festival over?"
"No, ma'am." The man confirmed. "He still has one opponent to face before the first-year festival is over."
"Ok, good." She nodded, turning back to her laptop. "Have our analysists watch it for any other possible quirk signs. And find a way for us to get official quirk documentation!"
"Yes ma'am!" The man bowed, quickly grabbing his laptop and closing the door as he hurriedly leaves the room.
The president pulled up a new tab, getting a full video of the green haired boy's fights during the festival. She starts by watching the one against the other boy with a copy quirk.
"Oh, the things we could do with a power like yours in our hands…" she smiled to herself.
" The first contestant. The professional bomber-man with unstoppable blast, BAKUGO KATSUKI!"
Bakugo grinned as he walked out of the tunnel and into the newly fixed arena. If that shit Deku thinks he can show off by destroying the arena, then Bakugo will show him next round, this one should be easy after all.
" And his opponent. The dynamic duo of edge and whit, give it up for TOKOYAMI FUMIKAGE and DARK SHADOW!"
"Thank you!" The dumb shadow thing called out as bird brain walked up to meet Bakugo in the arena. Just looking at them made Bakugo want to scoff, the two looking so weak.
"Alright boys, fight fair and cleanly. Ok?" Midnight asked. Bakugo nodded slightly, his face turning to a scowl as he readied his palms.
"BATTLE START!"
Katsuki rushed towards his opponent, explosions forming in his palms for extra thrust. Dark shadow reached out to swipe at Bakugo, but he shot out a blast near the shadow, making it reel back in pain.
"Ha, weak!" He yelled, throwing another blast at the bird boy. Dark shadow jumped out, blocking Tokoyami by injuring itself instead.
" What's this?!" Mic announced out as the match went on. " Tokoyami's gotten here through his unmatched close-range strength, yet he's been pushed completely on the defensive!"
Bakugo ran towards the pair, sending out an explosion that both sent him into the air and warded off the shadow. He noticed it try to grab him, so sent out one last blast that hit it right on the head.
"You savage," Tokoyami frowned as Dark shadow turned back to try get at Bakugo again.
The blonde boy grinned holding out both hands facing each other, yelling out "STUN GRENADE!"
The arena was covered in smoke, quickly dispersing to reveal Bakugo on top of Tokoyami; the blonde holding his opponent by the beak with one hand while the other was creating small explosions to weaken Dark Shadow.
"How did you know…" Tokoyami groaned out.
"Shit's easy." Bakugo smirked out. "It doesn't take knowing you to realise that shadow's hurt by light. You lose."
Tokoyami glared at bakugo for a moment longer, before relaxing and yelling out "I give!"
Bakugo scoffed, throwing the boy's face to the side as he pushed off, walking back into the tunnel.
" Well there we have it folks, both of our finalists have been chosen! Well now have a half-hour break to give them time to rest." Mic announced.
Bakugo smiled; in an hour's time everyone would know how pathetic that freak Deku is.
Izuku's eyes slowly opened, at first only showing off the bright white that he knew well to be Recovery Girl's office. He groaned as he tried to sit up, wincing as he put pressure on his right arm. He looked down at it and saw that it was still mangled, though slightly better than during the match. The arm also appeared to be in a metal brace stopping it from moving any unintended ways.
"I wasn't able to heal you while you were asleep," a voice called out. He looked over and saw recovery girl walking over to him from her desk. "It seems that your regeneration might be trying to start up again though, so that's a good sign."
"Wh…what happened?" Izuku croaked out, readjusting his senses since they seemed to have gone out of focus while he was out.
"You won." The voice of Todoroki came from beside him. He looked over, and in the bed to his right was Todoroki instead of Uraraka. He was about to ask where she was when he heard the bathroom door open, Uraraka coming out in fresh clothes.
"Mido!" She gasped, running up to him and giving him a hug.
"Hey, watch his arm!" Recovery girl groaned as she pulled the brace off of Izuku and gently kissed his arm.
"Oh, I'm so happy you're finally awake!" Izuku smiled, wiping the hair out of her face.
"She took longer to get ready to purposely wait for you." Todoroki told him, breaking their moment. The two jumped apart, Izuku starting to rub his newly healed arm.
"H-hey Todoroki, how are you feeling?" Izuku asked, slightly embarrassed.
"I'm… not too sure," Todoroki answered, looking at his left side. "I have a lot to think about."
"I saw the end of your fight," Uraraka said, sitting on Izuku's bed. "What made you use your fire?"
Todoroki sat for a moment, looking at his left arm then over at Izuku. "I had an enlightening experience, a weight off my chest."
"Alright Todoroki, you should be good to go," Recovery girl muttered, writing on some forms. "Just take it easy."
"Yes ma'am, thank you." Todoroki bowed, slipping out of bed. He slipped on his shoes, making his way to the door before turning back. "Thank you Midoriya… good luck in the finals.
"Thank you, Todoroki!" Izuku smiled as Todoroki left. Todoroki looked around, finding the directional signs for the viewing areas and made his way along the corridors. Coming along to the last corner, Todoroki turned to see the one thing that would dampen his spirit.
His father stood there as if waiting for him, grinning with glee. "You not gonna say 'out of my way'?" Todoroki just continued to stare at him in silence.
"You may have lost, but I am proud of you for giving up that childish whining." Endeavour grinned, opening his arms invitingly. "Your fire side is still unrefined, but you can finally become my perfect upgrade."
"I'm not letting go of that 'whining' father," Todoroki interrupted, glaring at Endeavour. "I still refuse to accept you… it's just that in the moment, facing Midoriya… I completely forgot about you. I just ensured that I was me."
"…if that's what it takes." Endeavour huffed, crossing his arms. "Either way, you need me. Who better to teach you how to use our fire than me-"
" My fire." Todoroki growled, pushing past his father. "But I still need to… think about things for a while."
"I hope he's ok, I hope I didn't push him too far." Izuku winced, looking up at Uraraka. She looked back to him, turning so that she faced him completely.
"What made you think it was ok to go that far!" She cried out, slapping Izuku's shoulder.
"H-hey, I had to do it." Izuku whined, not liking seeing Uraraka upset.
"Your regeneration stopped working halfway through!" She pointed out.
"…I kinda new that was going to happen." Izuku reluctantly confessed, which ended up making her angrier. He was about to start trying to explain when he felt a buzzing start to appear over his skin.
"Uhhm, recovery girl!" Izuku called out, getting the old lady to appear. "Did anyone touch me while I was out?"
"Not that I know of, why?" She asked, getting closer.
"I-I think I feel a new quirk appearing." He explained. "My skin is buzzing."
"Across your whole body?" Uraraka asked, getting a nod from the boy.
"Hmm, that's odd. Usually it wouldn't appear for at least another hour, and that's if it happened when you had just passed out." Recovery girl hummed, checking the boys eyes. "Do you think you'll be able to fight with it forming?"
"I don't think so, it's really annoying." Izuku said. "I-I just don't understand where it's come from?"
Recovery girl finished checking his eyes, humming. "…I might have an idea." She said, going back to her desk. "You didn't have enough blood in your system for me to heal you. That's actually why you passed out, not exhaustion." She explained, pulling a red bag out of the bin under her desk.
"It's possible that the blood being injected into you is both the cause of your new quirk and why it's forming so fast." The checked the bag, front and back. "No name or anything, no way of telling what quirk you could have. I'll call Yagi and get him to bring you to a gym to check."
"Oh, th-thank you." Izuku smiled, turning back to Uraraka. "Do you mind if I head out to do this? I'll meet you up at the seating area."
"It's ok," Uraraka smiled. "Your final match will be starting soon. I'm cheering you on!" She gave him a quirk kiss on the cheek, before turning red and running out the door.
"Kids…" recovery girl sighed. "I hope you know about safe sex."
"W-wh-wha!" Izuku stuttered out."
" MY BOY!" Toshi yelled as he entered. " Are you ok? I got a message from Chiyo about you needing me? Is something wrong?"
"No, everything's ok." Izuku smiled. "I was hoping you could bring me to a spare gym?"
Toshi paused, not expecting that. " Oh. Whatever for, my boy?"
"W-well I have a new quirk appearing and was hoping I could test it before the finals." Izuku asked.
" Oh, of course my boy!" Toshi laughed. " Do you have everything you need?"
"Yep!" Izuku nodded, getting out of his bed.
"Wait, you'll need a new uniform, again." Recovery Girl groaned, starting to get off of her chair.
"I-it's fine, it's just the sleeves." Izuku said, ripping of the sleeve of his right arm so that his uniform was even. "Oh, that reminds me! 'Divinity' has started affecting my 'Super Regeneration'."
"How so?" Recovery girl asked, intrigued.
"Well during my fight after regeneration stopped, whenever I absorbed anything the energy went into powering 'Super regeneration' instead."
" My boy, that's great news!" Toshi smiled. At Izuku's confused look he explained, " your quirks interacting like that means you're closer to being able to use multiple at once."
"Oh yeah." Izuku muttered out in realisation.
" Anyway, let's go test your new quirk!" Toshi laughed, leaving the room.
"Don't do anything stupid!" Recovery girl yelled as Izuku quickly followed his mentor.
" Alright my boy, we have 15 minutes until your match. Let's get right to it!" Toshi called back as he flipped on the lights to gym gamma. They were lucky that it was so close to the arena building.
Izuku walked into the centre of the room, taking his top off to prepare for any possibility of his new quirk being destructive. He felt out for the quirk, it feeling like a pushing motion starting from his core.
" Alright my boy, I'll be here if you need anything." Toshi called out, standing a safe distance away. With the acknowledgement from his mentor, Izuku started the process of forcibly activating his new quirk.
Izuku started pushing out, letting the quirk start to burn his skin. He hoped it would take less than a minute, but it being a full body quirk meant Izuku had no clue. He managed to not whine out in pain as the volts of shock coursed through him.
Toshi watched on with worry as Izuku stood there clenching as he tried to activate his new quirk. Personally, he would've had the boy wait for it to come in naturally, even if it's just because 'Super Regeneration' wasn't there as a safety buffer.
Eventually Izuku felt the sharp shocks start to disappear, replaced by a warm hum. He looked down and didn't initially see anything, but further inspection showed that his body was lightly outlined in what looked like smoke that quickly dispersed. The layer of smoke was so thin that it could hardly be seen.
"Huh, interesting…" Izuku hummed out, catching the attention of his mentor.
"What is it, young Izuku?" Toshi asked, walking towards his successor.
"It looks like my quirk lets me form a layer of smoke or steam or something." Izuku muttered. In the back of his mind he recognised that his body was feeling warmer. "Toshi, could you grab my arm?" He asked, holding it out.
" Sure," his mentor responded. He gently grasped the middle of Izuku's forearm, relaxing slightly as he felt the steam come off of Izuku. " It feels relaxing, my boy. It seems more like steam than smoke."
"Interesting," Izuku hummed out. "And if this is it before fully forming, I'd imagine that it would be hot enough to melt ice easily. Man, this would make facing Todoroki easier." He joked.
" So, what's your hypothesis on your new quirk my boy?" Toshi asked, wiping his hand on his trousers.
"Well," Izuku started muttering. "It's likely steam coming off of my body given the head and the fact that your hand got slightly damp after sitting in it. So, it likely lets me emit steam, I doubt it's too hot since I can feel it."
" Quite the thesis my boy, how will you know if you're right?" Toshi asked.
"Oh, w-well when I go to bed I can check my library notebook." Izuku smiled out. "So, how much longer is left?
" Around 10 minutes, it gives you plenty of time to ready up for your match." Toshi smiled, patting Izuku's shoulder. " Are you sure you still want to fight Bakugo?"
Izuku paused, thinking for a moment on it. "…yes, it's something I have to do."
" Good, standing by your decisions is an important thing for heroics." Toshi smiled " just make sure not to let him get under your skin."
"Of course, Toshi, I-I should get going now" Izuku smiled nervously, putting his shirt back on.
" You'll do great, my boy!" Toshi yelled as Izuku ran off to get to his waiting room.
Slipping into his seat, Toshinori looked around at the other teachers in the first-year viewing booth. It wasn't too busy, seeing as most of them were helping to host the festival.
Vlad king and snipe were looking down at a tablet, likely rewatching highlights of the previous matches. Ectoplasm was resting in his seat, just back from his perimeter searches. Toshinori wasn't too sure where power loader had gone, if he had to guess the hero was still going through the scraps of the robots from the first round.
"So what happened, All-Might?" Thirteen asked from beside him. Toshinori found it odd, ever since finding out that the hero was his successors aunt, the two seemed to form a quick friendship. On the off days where Toshinori was able to go out on patrols they even helped each other out from time to time.
" Ah young Izuku just needed someone to overlook some quirk testing." Toshinori explained.
"Testing?" Thirteen questioned. "Did something happen?"
"Oh no, ahah" Toshinori chuckled. "The boy got access to a new quirk and wanted to see how it worked."
"Ooh, do you think he'll use it in the finals?" Thirteen hummed.
"Not likely," Toshinori started. "All it does is warm him up-"
" A phone call is here! A phone. All is here!"
He was cut off by the ringing of his phone. He ignored Thirteens chuckles as pulled it out. It was Naomasa calling him, which meant it likely wasn't something he could ignore.
" Hello Naomasa, is everything ok?" He asked.
" Toshinori, I have great news." Naomasa replied, sounding out of breath.
" What is it?" Toshinori asked, confused. " You sound like you've been running? "
"I have," Naomasa huffed, the sound of a chair squeaking coming through the phone. " I've got the last bit of evidence we need to detain everyone!"
You mean-" Toshinori started, a smile starting to break out from his face.
" We've got it! The local precinct, the school board, everyone!" Naomasa cheered out.
" I… Thank you, Naomasa. I'll be ready in an hour!" Toshi nearly cried out.
" Got it, I'll gather everyone here." Naomasa replied, hanging up.
Toshinori looked up, the fires spewing from the edge of the arena signalling the beginning of the final match. It was now officially too late to pull Bakugo from the fight, but one Izuku beat him then he could be detained.
Toshinori smiled, if he were being honest over the last few years he'd been feeling less and less like a real hero. But this case, putting away people that would turn a blind eye, or even directly aid in abusing the new generation before they were able to defend themselves. This made Toshinori feel good.
He sat back with a smile as Present Mic's voice started booming over the speakers.
Chapter 16
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" Mic roared, pausing for effect. " It is time for the final match!"
Izuku took a deep breath. This was it, his final hurdle to show the world and the villains that lived in it that he was here. He decided that making a big entrance would help calm his nerves. He crouched into a sprinter's start position, shooting forwards as his wings carried him, flying through the tunnel and into the arena.
" First up. Flying into the arena is the student who's dominated the entire festival. He's got talent, drive and a whole lot of power! Give it up for the ultimate wildcard MIDORIYA IZUKU!"
Izuku changed direction, flying higher into the air before diving down. Quickly approaching the ground, Izuku ducked into a roll, landing with a smile.
" AND HIS OPPONENT!" Mic called out as a loud explosion rocked the other tunnel. " The blonde bomber that's shown no hesitation steamrolling through his competition. Give it up for the explosives extraordinaire, BAKUGO KATSUKI! "
The explosions kept blasting, Bakugo shooting through the tunnel into the arena. He used more explosive blasts to slow himself, stopping inside the ring. Izuku stood watching as he landed, scowling at the greenette.
" You've seen our competitors struggle against many opponents and push through on top! Now it's come down to this, who will be the one to come away champion?!"
"Alright boys," midnight called out, making sure to get both of their attentions. "I hope you know the rules by now, and try not destroy the ring again." She said, sending a side-eye to Izuku as she said it, making him turn a little red.
"I want you two to fight fairly, now BATTLE START!"
Izuku let Bakugo move first, the boy charging forward with explosions to let the boy go airborne. Once he was clearly off the air and in Izuku's side of the arena, Izuku activated 'erasure'.
Bakugo stumbled slightly, falling to his knees without the use of his quirk, he felt the quirk come back, but had no chance to do anything as Izuku appeared in front of him, fist cocked back and surrounded by lightning. Izuku drove his fist into the blonde, making him shoot back to the edge of the arena.
"Cheap trick! Won't work again." Bakugo growled out, crouching before charging once again. He made sure to stray right and left, making it harder to predict where he would go. Once he got close enough, he sent an explosive fist into Izuku's face, exploding upon contact.
As the smoke cleared, Izuku's 'bone armour' covered face was shown, nothing more than some marks on it. He responded by kicking Bakugo back before using 'light attraction' to pull Bakugo's fact towards him. Izuku quickly kneed him in the face.
"You bastard…" Bakugo gruffed, stepping back to catch his breath. "You really think that's enough to hurt me?" He sent a blast towards Izuku, using the smoke to get round to Izuku's side and send another blast into his opponent.
"You're too WEAK to even think of hurting me!" Bakugo yelled out, sending another blast at Izuku. "You've always been weak, and you always will be!"
He was stopped by Izuku's hand grabbing Bakugo's arm. Izuku's eyes were red and his hair was floating ever so slightly, the signs of 'erasure's activation.
"I have power now, why do you still think I'm weak!?" Izuku asked.
"You… this has nothing to do with quirks!" Bakugo growled, punching Izuku's face and sending an explosive blast to try blind him.
"I didn't give a fuck if you were quirkless!" Bakugo yelled, sending more and more blasts into the smoke pile Izuku was in. "I hated you because you thought you could be a hero! You weren't doing shit do prove it!" He huffed out, pausing his onslaught.
"You said you were going to be a hero, but all I saw was a weak shit that didn't do anything to help himself!" He growled, "that's why I hate you! That's why you'll never be anything!"
He was cut off by a giant fist grabbing him by the torso, throwing him across the aren't.
"…I tried," Izuku frowned, a tear starting to form in his eye as he slowly walked towards Bakugo. "But nowhere, no dojo or gym, no one wanted to let a quirkless kid join them."
Bakugo sent a blast Izuku's way, but he easily flew up to dodge it. He landed again and used 'BlackWhip' to ensnare Bakugo.
"And I had my analysis! I learnt about quirks and heroes so I could understand how to Beat them. But what did you do? You destroyed them, beating me and telling me to kill myself. Even after I started training you still hated me!"
"…You should've listened to me." Bakugo scoffed. "That analysis isn't worth shit! If you can't defend yourself in school, you'll be killed before you even get your license!"
Izuku paused, looking down for a moment. "…I guess my old friend really is dead." He muttered, before roughly throwing Bakugo to the edge of the ring.
The blonde boy managed to hold on enough not to be thrown right out, but before he had a change to get up Izuku sent a One For All infused kick into his stomach, sending him crashing into the stadium walls.
"MIDORIYA IZUKU WINS!"
The crowd cheered as Izuku sighed, lightly rubbing his arm that had been burned. He decided to walk over to Bakugo's unconscious body and pick it up, throwing the boy over his shoulder to carry.
"That was for Uraraka." Izuku muttered, carrying him off to the infirmary.
" THERE WE HAVE IT! THE WINNER OF THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL IS CLASS A'S MIDORIYA IZUKU!!!"
Izuku silently walked through the hallways, Bakugo unconscious on his shoulder. He felt conflicted on his final match. He beat Bakugo for Uraraka, and hoped he made her proud. But the fact that Bakugo still thinks that Izuku should kill himself burns him to his core.
"Young Izuku!" His mentors voice called out, making Izuku turn to see Toshi quickly walking up to him. " My boy, you did incredibly!"
"Th-thanks, Toshi." Izuku tried smiling, it ending up more like an awkward sigh.
" My boy, is something wrong?" Toshi asked, stepping closer to Izuku.
"It's just… some things Bakugo said." Izuku frowned, gesturing to the boy on his shoulder.
" Here, let me take him," Toshi said, pulling the blonde boy and holding him under his arm. " That reminds me of what I needed to talk to you about."
"Oh?" Izuku hummed, looking curiously to his mentor.
" My boy, we're starting our raid to arrest your school and local precinct in just over half an hour." Toshi told him. " It means that Bakugo will also be arrested."
"Oh…" Izuku breathed out, looking down. Hearing that it would happen earlier was one thing, but to now get told that everyone that ignored him during his childhood was about to be arrested felt unreal.
" Since I have bakugo already I'm going to detain him, at the award ceremony they'll say that he's just still asleep." Toshi explained. " Just enjoy the rest of the day, my boy." He reassured, patting Izuku's shoulder.
"O-ok, Toshi." Izuku smiled.
" Now off you go!" Toshi chuckled. " The award ceremony will be starting soon."
"Now then everyone, it's time for the award ceremony!" Midnight cheered as the floor behind her opened up. The crowd cheered and roared as the podiums rose up, showing the winners. People quickly noticed that the 2 nd place podium was empty.
"Sadly, Bakugo didn't make it due to him being… unconscious still." Midnight explained, though her tone slightly gave away her lie. "Anyway, it's time to hand out the medals!"
Midnight walked to the side slightly making an open space in front of the podiums. "To hand out our medals is the only natural choice…"
A familiar laugh could be heard as midnight paused slightly. "To hand out our medals… The one, the only-"
" I AM HERE, with medals!" Toshi yelled out, jumping down and landing in the open space.
"-All-Might!" Midnight announced, wincing as the number one hero and her spoke over each other.
" I apologise, Midnight. My timing was a little off." he chuckled, bowing slightly to her before turning to the winners.
As his mentor approached the third-place stand, Izuku could hear whispers of how lucky they as a year were to be observed by the symbol of peace, and he couldn't really disagree.
" To start off, Young Tokoyami." Toshi smiled, placing the medal onto the student's neck. " You're one tough cookie, but I'd suggest learning to rely less on your quirk. Building up your own strength can help when in unfavourable matchups."
"…thank you," Tokoyami hummed as the hero gave him a crushing hug, dark shadow appearing to hug the large man's shoulder.
" Now, young Todoroki! Toshi laughed as he turned to the other student on the third-place podium. "You fought very well; I imagine you have your own reasons for using your fire against Midoriya?"
"He certainly has a way of getting into your head," Todoroki joked, a ghost of a smile appearing on his face. "…But I still have things that I need to figure out before I'm ready."
" Take as much time as you need, my boy." The hero smiled, pulling Todoroki into a hug. "And remember, if there's ever anytime you need help, I am here."
Toshi backed up, smiling one last time to Todoroki in the hope the boy heard his hidden call. The hero then turned to Izuku, who was very obviously trying to hold back his excited tears.
" It's ok, my boy. You can let your emotions flow, it's quite the momentous occasion."
Izuku choked out a laugh, wiping tears from his eyes, "Sorry To- All-Might, I-it's just…"
" I get it, my boy. You did quite the feat!" Toshi smiled, putting the first-place medal round Izuku's neck. " Not only have you won the sports festival in your first year, but you also won all three rounds! From memory I don't think that's been done before."
The hero quickly scooped up Izuku, hugging the boy tightly and whispering quietly enough so that no microphone could pick it up, " My boy, your mother and I are both so proud!"
The hero stood back up, fall turning back to the crowd while finishing his talk with Izuku. "And remember young man, if you want to stay up here next year, you'll have to keep up your hard work." He smiled, winking to Izuku before turning fully to face the crowd. " After all, it could've been anyone up on the podium this year! After all, we all saw these students compete, boost each other and themselves up. They climbed higher and higher, advancing farther than ever!"
The hero paused, looking to the student area, noticing each class's booth. " The next generation of heroes have surely shown today that they're ready to spread their wings and fly!"
The hero smiled wide, laughing out for a moment before reaching his fist to the sky. " I'd like to thank everyone, both the competitors and the staff working today, for their hard work! They've all gone beyond…"
The hero paused, letting everyone get ready to pump their fists alongside him.
"PLUS ULTRA!!!"
"PLUS ULTRA!!!"
"So, young Tomura, what do you think?" All For One asked as he switched off his tv. "Do you have any ideas on how you would face any of the students you saw?"
"Duh," Shigaraki scoffed, slouching down on his seat. "I'd grab their dumb faces, turn them all to dust."
"… Tomura no, what happens if you can't reach one of them, or they restrain you before you can reach them?"
"I'll just decay whatever they use to tie me up." The blue haired villain groaned.
"You can't always rely on your quirk alone, Tomura." All For One hummed, before turning his head to the door, sensing something. He waved his hand, using a telekinesis quirk to open it.
Standing there, about to knock on the door, was a middle-aged man wearing a loose-fitting purple suit and a white shirt underneath. He had grey short hair and a goatee that surrounded a smug grin and cigarette sticking out his mouth. He quickly looked up as the door opened, he readjusted his glasses before smoothly walking into the room.
"Hey hey, didn't expect to see you here sir," the man vowed slightly has he greeted the two villains.
"Giran, it's always a pleasure to see you." All For One nodded back. "What news do you bring?"
"I asked him about any info on the hero killer." Shigaraki grinned, standing up to face the newcomer. "What have you got?"
"Well," Giran hummed, nodding has he took a glass of whiskey from Kurogiri. "It took a while; the man hides his tracks well. Thankfully though, he took down another victim today so the police know where he's hunting right now."
Giran went into his pocket, pulling out a small notepad. "He'll be in Hosu for at least 3 more weeks. This has got all the information my police contact has."
Shigaraki took the notepad, holding up his ring and pinkie finger as to not decay the pages as he flipped through them. "This is perfect. Thanks."
"So, young Tomura, what is it you plan to do with the hero killer?" All For One asked as he got up, putting his glass back on the bar counter.
"He'd be a great addition to the league," Shigaraki grinned. "I mean, you've seen how he's gotten his name, right?"
"I suppose so." The Villain hummed. " Well, I do look forward to seeing how this all plans out. Kurogiri."
The misty barman wordlessly understood his request, opening a warp portal in front of the tall villain. "young Tomura, I'll leave you to your business."All For One Bowed before walking through the portal, it closing behind him.
Shigaraki looked back to the notebook, smiling as he read more information on how to find the hero killer.
"…so, you like the information?" Giran smiled, leaning against the bar.
"Huh…" Shigaraki hummed, seemingly forgetting that the other man was there. "Oh, yeah. Kurogiri, send him the money." Shigaraki drawled, waving his hand.
"Of course, Shigaraki Tomura." Kurogiri bowed.
"Ok good," Giran smiled out, before leaning in closer to shigaraki. "If you like that, then I'm willing to throw in something extra special."
"I thought we paid you to give us everything you have on the hero killer?" Shigaraki frowned, scratching his neck slightly.
"Don't worry, I did. What I have is something completely different." Giran grinned, taking another sip from his glass. "Usually I'd make you pay extra; a man's gotta make a living somehow. This, though. Is something I know you'd like… think of it as a buy one get one free."
"Well, what is it?" Shigaraki asked, his frown starting to turn into a glare.
"Apparently there's going to be a lot of arrests made in an hour or so… one of them involves a certain UA student."
"Oooohhh Izuku I'm so proud of you!" Inko cheered, pulling her son into a tight hug.
After the award ceremony Izuku decided to go see his mother. After the taxing day he had Izuku knew the only thing that could relax him was her hugs. If he wasn't able to copy quirks he'd have guessed she had a second one to make her hugs so soothing.
"Thanks mum," Izuku smiled, leaning into her hug as he wrapped his arms around her. The two quickly separated as Izuku showed off his medal. "C-can you believe it?"
"Oh, I always knew you were going to do well!" Inko smiled, looking at the medal then back up at her son. "Are you hungry? There's still a bit of time before the vendors close?"
"Sure." Izuku smiled, leading the way to the market area. The whole way down Inko kept telling Izuku about how proud she was, how well he performed and how excited she was to show off to the neighbours. Eventually the two reached the market area, it seeming less busy. Izuku presumed that people had already started leaving for the day.
"So Izuku sweetie? What would you like?" His mother asked, walking alongside him down the path, looking at what different stalls had.
"Uhm," Izuku hummed, looking between a couple stalls. "Maybe something sweet, like-"
"Mido!"
"Midoriya, Kero!"
Izuku was cut off by two voices calling his name. He quickly spun around and saw Uraraka and Tsu running towards him, Tokoyami following behind at a more casual pace. Uraraka reached him first, grabbing him into a hug and accidentally activating her quirk on him.
"Whoa!" Izuku yelped, flapping his arms as his wings tried their best to steady him.
"Oh, sorry," Uraraka giggled, pressing her hands together.
Izuku fell back to his feet, smiling awkwardly. "U-uh, mum. These are my friends. Uraraka Ochako, Asui Tsuyu and Tokoyami Fumikage. Guys, this is my mum."
"Oh? Hello Mrs Midoriya, it's great to meet you!" Uraraka smiled, bowing to the shorter woman.
"Definitely, your son is a shining light in the darkness," Tokoyami explained as both he and Tsu bowed to the woman too.
"Awwh, I'm just glad my boy has such nice friends!" Inko replied, starting to tear up.
"Y-yeah, they're pretty great," Izuku smiled, looking at Uraraka.
"So, how are you all enjoying your classes?" Inko asked, hoping to get to know them all better.
"They're ok, it's interesting to see just what kind of things you need to learn to do hero work, Kero." Tsu explained, "Midoriya does help make things easier to understand."
"Yeah, I dunno how he's so good at knowing all this stuff!" Uraraka exclaimed, grabbing onto the boys arm."
"Yes, my boy's like a sponge. He knows about things I didn't know existed." Inko joked, before her smile became softer, nearly sad. "My Izuku didn't have many friends growing up, so he spent all his time learning instead. I-I'm just so happy to see that you all care about him." Inko choked out, tears starting to fall.
"Mrs Midoriya, your son is a very nice person that I'm grateful to know." Tsu said, sending her a quick smile. "Your son actually saved my life, back during the attack. He is a good person, and even better friend."
At hearing the kind words said about her son, Inko couldn't handle the kindness, falling into the green haired girl's arms as she cried out.
"Mum!" Izuku squealed in embarrassment, but happily paused as he noticed Tsu hug her back, a couple tears of her own.
"Mido," Uraraka whispered, getting the boy's attention. "Your mum's really nice."
"Yes, she is a light that shines just as bright as yourself." Tokoyami agreed, with Dark Shadow nodding along.
"Thanks guys." Izuku smiled, handing his mother a wipe for her tears as her hug ended.
"Midoriya." A voice called out. Izuku turned and saw Todoroki waking towards him. The two-toned boy's expression was nearly unreadable, but Izuku thought he could see a bit of confusion or hesitation.
"Midoriya, I would just like to say congratulations," the boy said, before bowing slightly," …and, thank you."
"N-no Todoroki it's ok!" Izuku yelped, stepping nearer the boy to try stop him from bowing. "R-really, it's ok. I just did what anyone would've done!"
"Oh, are you another one of Izuku's friends?" His mother asked, getting both his and Todoroki's attention. Todoroki paused slightly, not expecting to have to say anything other than his initial sentence.
"I'm, uh…" Todoroki started, pausing to look at Izuku. He knew that the two had made an improvement in their relationship, but he wasn't sure if that meant he was Izuku's friend or not. Thankfully, a subtle nod from the green hair boy gave him his answer.
"Yes, ma'am. Midoriya has helped me realise some improtant things. I owe him a lot." Todoroki promptly replied, eyes widening when the woman quickly scooped him into a hug.
"Mum!" Izuku squealed again as his mother clomped onto the two-toned boy. He stopped, however, when he saw a small smile start to wobble onto Todoroki's face.
"So, your Midoriya's mother?" Todoroki asked, stiffly patting her back as she hugged him.
"Oh, yes dear. I'm Midoriya Inko." She smiled, pulling back from him. "And you're… Todoroki, right?"
"Yes ma'am, Todoroki Shoto." He confirmed, giving her a slight bow.
"You did very well today, Todoroki. I bet your parents are very proud of you." She replied, giving him another smile.
"Thank you, I'm… I hope they are." Todoroki sighed, before turning to his classmates. "Have a good day everyone. Mrs Midoriya." He bowed, border walking away.
Todoroki frowned, looking back at Izuku and his mother as she grabbed him by the waist and lifted him off the ground in a hug; The woman was stronger than she looked. More than anything though, the elder Midoriya reminded Todoroki of his own mother.
Stepping back into an empty hallway, Todoroki stood in silence, thinking over the events of the day. Both Midoriya's words and their fight helped him realise and remember important memories. But before accepting his power, Todoroki had to have a conversation with someone important.
He took out his phone, putting in a phone number that he had memorised years ago but never used. Looking at the number for a minute, he worked up the courage to call it.
"… hello, Musutafu psychiatric? Yes, I'd like to book a time to visit a patient."
"Hey, did you hear who won the first-year festival?" One of the teachers whispered out, getting everyone's attention. Due to the UA sports festival running during the middle of the day, the Aldera staff weren't able to watch it.
"Who was it?" One of the teachers, a short balding man, asked. "Was it Bakugo? I heard he got into U.A."
"No, and apparently he was only in gen-Ed." The first man sneered. "Somehow Deku won."
The statement brought the faculty lounge into unrest, multiple smaller comments coming out.
"How did the quirkless freak win?" One lady questioned, her hair starting to shake.
"Didn't you hear? Another man chimed in. "His ability came in."
"Yeah, I heard he could copy powers!" A woman with slightly reflective skin added.
"Sounds powerful." An unusually thin man huffed.
" Would all staff please meet in the faculty lounge for an emergency meeting!" The tannoy called, cutting through their conversations. Slowly the rest of the staff made their way into the lounge room, everyone looking as confused as the last person.
"So what do you think this is about?" One man murmured aloud.
"I bet it's to do with that null winning the sports festival." Another man called out, getting a few chuckles.
Eventually the principal and vice principal came in, both looking deathly pale and stiff. "H-hell everyone." The principal frigidly started.
"Sir, what's this about?" One of the teachers called out, sounding like he had started to get pissed off by the lack of information they had.
"W-well, you see-"
"You are all being charged with a multitude of crimes, including but not limited to child neglect, child abuse, misuse of authority, and hate crimes." Detective Naomasa cut in, walking into the room closely followed by a large number of officers.
The Aldera staff all went silent, freezing up as an officer came in with a bag full of cuffs. They slowly looked around at each other, wondering if this was really happening.
"Y-you can't do this to us." One man yelled as he shot onto his feet, startling the people sitting beside him."
"Sir, please calm down and remain seated." Naomasa asked as officers started cuffing the nearest teachers.
"No, I won't let you stop our liberation!" The man yelled, aiming his arm forward as his nails shot out from his fingertips.
Then the wall exploded.
Naomasa coughed in his hand, trying to see through the cloud of white dust from where the wall was broken. Slowly it started to settle, revealing All-Might holding the now unconscious man's body.
" You might want to listen to the detective," the hero spoke wit his signature smile, yet the school faculty could see a sharp edge to it. " Because I AM HERE! To ensure justice is served!"
The presence of the symbol of peace seemed to put an end to the faculty's protests. They all sat in resignation as they wait for be cuffed and taken out. All-Might stood next to Naomasa as they oversaw the mass arrests.
" Thank you again for this, Naomasa." All-Might sighed as he watched the administration begging to be taken away.
"Of course, All-Might." The detective replied, looking through his notepad to make sure he didn't miss out anything.
" Do you know when the case is set to begin in court?" All-Might asks, coughing slightly as he feels the strain of his quirk start to appear.
"Well with the amount of evidence we've gathered it should just be a couple of weeks." Naomasa explained. "And hopefully the trials themselves should last even less."
All-Might sighed, watching the last of the faculty get escorted off of premises. " I just wish there were more I could do. I understand that taking these people away from positions of power will help, but it doesn't undo the years of discrimination they subjected to who knows how many children."
"That's the thing, Toshinori." Naomasa frowned, looking at his friend. "Sometimes even you're too late to save everyone."
Katsuki was fuming. After waking up in some plain room that looked like it came from some stereotypical detective flick, he remembered that the damn freak somehow managed to cheat and beat him up. He tried to get up out of the chair he was sat in, but stopped once he realised his hands were chained to the damn table. Before he could blow the whole table up, the door beside him opened, and the hobo teacher walked in.
"I wouldn't suggest trying to break out of your cuffs, Bakugo. Though I doubt you even could." The man said as he sat at the table, across from Katsuki. "Every wall emits a quirk suppression field. Of course, people with strong enough quirk factors could still activate their quirks, just. But I doubt even All Might could break out." Of course it was a lie, but only Aizawa knew it.
Katsuki smirked, "then it's a good thing that he's NOTHING compared to the power of Baku…" he paused, noticing that the only thing appearing was miniature puffs of smoke, hardly even visible despite his full owner behind it.
"Huh," the hobo hummed, "honestly more than I was expecting."
Angered by the poor excuse of an insult, Katsuki shot up, leaning against the table, "Fine then, why don't you tell me why I'm fuckin locked up!"
"Sit the hell down!" The hobo yelled out, grabbing his scarf. "You're here because you're being charged with a hell of a list of crimes."
"Bullshit!" Katsuki bit back. "That damn Deku should be the one being arrested, the cheating fuck. But no, you're all bending as far backwards for the useless freak as you can!" He growled out.
"That's enough!" The hero retaliated. "Don't you get it? You're in deep shit. Even if you by some miracle don't get the guilty charge, you'll never step foot in a hero training establishment again."
Katsuki froze, slowly sitting back down onto his chair. "N-no that's not fair. I'm meant to be number one, I'm GOING to be number one!"
The hero across from him just sighed, pulling out a tablet. "Discrimination, destruction of property, attempted murder, aggravated assault; that's just the start of it. Does that sound like something any here, let alone the top hero, should do?"
Katsuki paused for a second, doing what Aizawa hoped was thinking it over, before disappointing the hero one last time by looking back at him with an even bigger scowl. "It's all that damn Deku's fault that he didn't understand his place under my foot!"
"Are you really so obsessed with Midoriya that you can't see the other people you hurt?" Aizawa sighed, losing his gruff attitude due to the sheer awe he was in at the boy's persistence that he was right. "The attempted murder charge is in fact attempted murder of Uraraka Ochako. Not Midoriya."
"Well, it's her fault for thinking it's ok to be buddy buddy with that damn freak!" Katsuki spat out.
"No, it's YOUR fault for firing a lethal weapon! Against your instructor's orders! After your training exercise was over!" Aizawa took a moment to regain his composure, before slowly getting up from his chair. "I've had enough, an police unit is on its way to bring you to lock-up so you can go on trial. If any of your quirk related crimes are given the guilty verdict, which I have little doubt they won't, you'll be officially recognised as a villain. Your name will be expunged from all public records, and you'll be given a villain Alias."
Aizawa made his way to the door, momentarily looking back, "have a good life Bakugo Katsuki, lord knows you don't deserve it," before leaving.
"Yeah, well screw you! Screw you all!" Bakugo roared out. "I'm meant to be number one! I'll be the strongest, with or without your help!"
From there Katsuki sat alone, stewing in his anger until the police officers came to collect him. They put his hands in some shitty containment box so that he couldn't use his hands without blowing himself up.
They escorted him through the campus, bringing him to a back exit where an armoured truck sat waiting for him. He tried thrashing about, but an ectoplasm clone appeared, helping push Katsuki into the back of the truck. Two armoured guards joined him in the back one sitting either side of him as they drove off.
The drive gave Katsuki time to think; trying to figure out how everything went so wrong. He was meant to be top dog! Hell, he wouldn't have been surprised if he was allowed to teach instead. Yet somehow everything seemed as if it was in a bizarro world.
And it all came back to the cheating freak, Deku.
He was the one getting special treatment from the principal. He was the one that the teachers were kissing up to. He was the one that the students were blindly looking to like sheep. He was the one that somehow managed to beat Katsuki.
It made him sick!
Katsuki wasn't sure how long he'd been in thought when the truck started to get all bumpy, he presumed they were arriving at whatever station they were taking him to. That all changed, however, as gravity shifted sideways. Katsuki's eyes widened in shock as it felt like the truck was falling before it hit something nose first. He and the officers smashed into the divider between them and the drivers before they once again felt the truck too, this time onto its side.
"What the hells going on!" One officer yelled as they hit the walls, Katsuki noting that the truck has finally stilled. He slowly moved up to his knees as the officers around him. One of the officers peered his head into the drivers compartment as another checked his doors.
"Drivers out cold, let's check outside." The officer ordered as he made his way to the door, swinging the top one up so that they could get out. He turned back to Katsuki. "Stay put!" Before jumping out as it swung close.
Katsuki sat in silence as he waited for any sign of what was happening. As the moments stretched on, he slowly inched closer, hoping to hear anything beyond the slight scuffing of feet moving. It felt like he'd been dunked underwater, almost no sound escaping into the truck. Katsuki finally got to the door; his ears nearly pressed against it as he finally heard a new noise. It was faint, but it sounded like a sizzling. Katsuki backed up in confusion and quickly became glad he did as he watched the doors rust away and turn to dust.
"The cavalry has arrived, and before you ask, I know I'm too short for a stormtrooper." A familiar raspy voice called out as the decay finished eating away at the doors. Katsuki moved back further in both confusion and dread, as he looked out the doorway of the truck he saw that it was now situated in some kind of warehouse, but what his eyes focused on was the two people standing just at the other side of the doors. Kurogiri and Shigaraki Tomura.
"Bakugo Katsuki," Kurogiri's smooth voice began. "Please step out of the truck, we do not wish to harm you."
Katsuki glared at the two, trying to figure out what they wanted. He watched as they both took a step back, making room for him to get out and past him. Cautiously, Katsuki took a step forward to gauge their reaction. Watching them relax slightly, he continued to step forward, jumping out of the truck.
"Now what the hell do you two want." Katsuki growled out, her it was subdued slightly. He didn't want to risk angering the two that got him out of the truck while he couldn't use his quirk.
"Fixing a mistake," Shigaraki said, glaring back at Katsuki from behind his mask. "Look at you, they just threw you out like you're some one-time mob. But I've seen your strength, I see you for what you really are."
Shigaraki stepped closer to Katsuki, grabbing onto his cuffs and letting it decay away, freeing Katsuki's hands. "You're a 5-star pull, you should be at the top of the food chain. We can help you with that."
"Please, you're just some 2-bit villains!" Katsuki growled out, making sure not to look at either of them.
Shigaraki scowled momentarily, but quickly changed his face back to a relaxed expression. "That's where you're wrong, we're the real deal! My Sensei put a hole in All-Might after all."
Katsuki turned to look at Shigaraki, a gleeful smile plastered on the villains face. "Bullshit."
"Not at all, haven't you wondered why he hasn't been seen as much the last couple years?" Shigaraki asked, grinning wider as he saw everything click into place in Katsuki's mind. "Sensei is at the top of the food chain, and soon I will be too. You can be there with us."
"Why would I join you, you're villains." Katsuki asked, his voice slowly becoming weaker.
"So are you, now. The heroes cast you aside, called you a villain! And it's all that copycat cheater's fault."
Katsuki became enraged at the mention of the boy, practically spitting out the word. "Deku!"
"…Deku, a fitting name." Shigaraki smiled at the hatred clearly shown on Katsuki's face. "Just think, don't you want to show him, and all the heroes that choose HIM over YOU that they chose wrong?"
Katsuki looked up slightly, staring at the blood red eyes. It was almost like looking through a mirror in that sense.
Shigaraki leaned over, grabbing the side of the truck, letting it start to decay. "Together we can destroy that cheat 'Deku' and everything he loves." He glanced over to the quickly decaying truck. "We can turn it all into dust and ash."
Shigaraki turned back to Katsuki, raising a hand to him, holding out his pinkie to ensure his quirk didn't go off, "what do you say… partners?"
