"You have how long?!" Izuku screamed out.
" Barely an hour and a half," Toshi sighed, drinking up a protein smoothie.
The two had found a small meeting room with two sofas and a table to eat in. Toshi had brought Izuku a full lunch that tasted awfully similar to his mother's cooking. Toshi himself had a specialised smoothie to make digestion easier.
" The battle against the Noumu decreased my time limit, if I don't do anything strenuous I should be able to last for your heroics classes." He continued.
"O-oh," Izuku frowned, bowing slightly, "I'm so sor-"
" There's nothing to apologise for, we really are similar aren't we!" Toshi laughed out, coughing a sliver of blood. " Anyway, that isn't what I wanted to talk to you about. Would you rather have the bad news or a fun conversation?"
"Uh Toshi isn't the saying good news or bad news?" Izuku asked, putting down his meal.
" Not in this scenario, now choose." Toshi informed him.
"How bad is the bad news?" Izuku questioned.
" Life altering, it'll make everything else inconsequential." Toshi deadpanned.
"I'll take it." Izuku decided, he may as well get it out of the way.
" If you're sure, my boy." Toshi breathed, pausing to collect his thoughts. " There is an enemy that may be after our lives. "
"What! B-but you're All Might, you can… beat…" Izuku wavered off, looking down at where Toshi's scar is.
" Yes, my boy." Toshi confirmed, following Izuku's gaze. " He is the one that wounded me."
"B-but I thought you'd killed him." Izuku asked, his breath shortening.
" So did I, but he's the only one that could have made the Noumu." Toshi explained.
"H-how, w-who is…" Izuku's mind whirred. The same person that wounded Toshi could also create multi-Quirk monsters and cheat death. What kind of person can do so many things?
" To explain, I'd like to tell you a story, my boy." Toshi said, sitting forward. " The story of One For All's creation."
"At the very dawn of quirks, as a civil war was on the verge of happening there lived two brothers. As they grew up, one brother found that he had an incredible ability; the power to take quirks and give them to others. With that power he realised that he could play both sides of the social divide; take quirks away from those who wanted to be normal and give them to those that wanted the power to defend themselves. Using this method he gained many supporters on both sides, until he gained incredible social influence as well as physical power."
"W-what, but none of this is in the history books, not even on unregulated forums online!" Izuku paled.
" That's because his existence has been wiped from public knowledge, now where was I? Oh yes!"
"Now while this man used his power to try infiltrate the government, his younger brother watched in disgust! He had a strong sense of moral justice so he tried to oppose his brother. However, due to his weak body and many illnesses he was easily overcome and locked away by his brother. Now, whether it be some sick form of brotherly love or to try silence his brother, the evil man forced a quirk on his brother, a stockpiling Quirk. After being freed, the younger brother found out he wasn't actually originally quirkless, but instead had a quirk that on its own would be useless. It was the power to pass on one's own Quirk to another!"
"Th… that's how One For All was made?" Izuku awed. He had always wondered how the Quirk could do multiple things, but he never thought it was multiple quirks. "Th-the stockpiler merged with the first users original Quirk, to create the single One For All Quirk, didn't it!"
" As far as I know, yes. Now I'm presuming you know the rest of the story; One For All gets passed down from user to user until it reached you, my boy." Toshi explained . "However, the older brother, who now goes only by the name 'All For One', must have gained some life extension Quirk, because he hunted down the users of his brothers Quirk in a quest to regain it. Until I beat him, or I thought I did." He sighed.
"A-and you think he's the one that made the Noumu?" Izuku asked, before looking up in shock. "Does that mean he's leading the league of villains!?"
" I-I don't know my boy," Toshi confessed. " But I promise. If he is alive, I will be the one to finish this war. I refuse to burden you with this battle!"
"B-but I'd want to help you!" Izuku refuted. "If we work together, we can do anything!"
"It's not that, my boy. It's just…" Toshi stopped, unsure of what to say. They sat in silence for a minute, before Toshi spoke back up. " It's funny, isn't it? Justice born from evil."
"So, this 'All For One', he can use multiple quirks like me?" Izuku asked, worried.
" Not exactly. You just copy the quirks of others while he steals them altogether. There's a boy in the other hero class that can copy quirks too, though due to him not having 'One For All' to enhance his quirk he can only temporarily do it. Try not to think about it my boy!" Toshi reassured.
"So… what was the other thing you wanted to talk about?" Izuku asked with a half smile.
" Ah, it's about the upcoming sports festival!" Toshi told him, chuckling. " I told you it would seem unimportant afterwards."
"Oh I dunno," Izuku smiled. "It's important for my hero career! Just not as important as an immortal supervillain wanting me dead." He joked.
" Yes, well anyway I just want to ask how ready you're feeling?" Toshi asked him, taking a sip of his smoothie.
"Well with some straining I can use about 9% of One For All." Izuku told him.
" Impressive, you're mastering the quirk at a good rate!" Toshi congratulated. " How about your other quirks?"
"W-well, most of them are good. I've not gotten to test the Noumu's quirks yet, and I'm guessing they'll impact how I use One For All!" Izuku explained as he chomped on his lunch.
" Oh?" Toshi questioned " how so?"
"Well, for starters 'muscle enhancement' has increased my base musculature. I managed to outrun cars with it!" Izuku explained enthusiastically.
" Ah, I see." Toshi informed him. " That'll definitely have an impact on how much power you can output. I was wondering when you became more muscular." Toshi was right, after gaining his new quirk, Izuku went from his leaner swimmer build to a more Hollywood style muscular. Though still nowhere near Toshi's bodybuilder level of muscles.
"Y-yeah, there's also the fact that the 'shock absorption' and 'super regeneration' will help me recover from the percentages that are too high." Izuku theorised.
" Well, during todays heroics class you can test it out. I had just planned to do 1v1 sparring. Since there's 19 of you now, you can go solo first. I'm sure there's some of my old punching bags still hiding somewhere." Toshi joked.
"Sounds good, Toshi." Izuku thanked him. "I'll be getting a new quirk soon too." Izuku started. "It's one of the third-year hero students' quirk. I got it while helping Recovery Girl heal her."
" Interesting. What's the quirk called?" Toshi inquired.
"Wave motion." Izuku told him.
" Ah, yes!" Toshi exclaimed, snapping his fingers. " I know the one! Belongs to that Hado girl, right? It's one that'll take quite a bit of training but has incredible potential. A perfect pick for you!"
"Y-yeah. She even said we'd be 'wave buddies' but she was pretty out of it, so I doubt she'll really remember me." Izuku smiled awkwardly.
" Ah nonsense!" Toshi yelled out. " Who could forget someone like you? You're incredibly memorable, young Izuku."
"T-thanks, Toshi," Izuku smiled.
" My pleasure, my boy! But anyway, do you think you'll be prepared enough for the festival?"
"I-I hope so," Izuku honestly wobbled out.
" Good!" Toshi smiled. " Remember, this is your first chance to show the world that You Are Here! You'll want to make a good showing."
"I-I won't let you down, Toshi!" Izuku smiled determinedly.
" Oh, my boy, you never could."
After finishing his meal, Toshi let Izuku go back to see his friends. Izuku found them as well as Tsu sitting at a table, where the three of them spend the last 10 minutes of lunch interrogating Izuku on what he and Toshi talked about.
Literature went by fast enough, and the students then got ready for their heroics class. Since it was just basic sparring, they were told to just wear their gym uniforms, not that it made much difference to Izuku. He had just sent in the new additions and sizes he needed for his uniform due to his muscle growth. He also asked for the same materials Mt Lady uses for his gloves. It would likely take until the sports festival for it to arrive due to the new materials needed.
The students all met down in gym epsilon. Its design was similar to that of a typical school gymnasium. It had matted flooring with wooden floors around the edges and was large enough to house multiple basketball courts. The edges of the room had benched seating that Toshi was waiting at.
" Welcome to gym Epsilon, students!" the hero called out, greeting everyone. " Today, we'll be doing one versus one sparring!"
"Sir!" Iida called out, "There are only 19 of us, how will that be resolved?"
"Worry not, young Iida!" Toshi replied, " The individual not sparring at any one time will be practicing on a training set I've found. It's one I personally used during my tenure here!"
Izuku knew that he'd be first to use it, so took the chance to inspect it. It was a fairly complex machine, different excercises on each side. The ones Izuku could see were one that looked like it would train his reaction time and one that trained blocking and dodging. What Izuku was planning on using instead was the overly large punching bag that hung off the side of it.
" Now, you all will be sparring for 5 minutes at a time while I come around and help with your form and other basics if necessary. After every 5 minutes you will switch partners so you can learn to fight different types of opponents." Toshi explained, continuing, " I'd like to ensure that you all remain safe, so no large-scale attacks and no lethal moves! Young Midoriya, I'd like for you to do solo training first!" the hero smiled.
"Y-yes sir!" Izuku replied, adjusting his gloves.
" Great! Alright, everyone else find a partner!" the hero instructed, leaving Izuku to head to the punching bag.
Izuku noticed that there was a rack of different sized boxing gloves next to the machine, but decided against it since 'shock absorption' should help with any recoil. He took a moment to stretch, gazing out at the pairing that appeared. He though some of them could make for interesting battles, like Iida and Tsu taking to one of the walls. Two mobility based fighters like that would be an interesting match up. He also noticed that Uraraka had taken on a tough opponent; Hagakure likely wasn't the most physically dominating fighter, but being Invisible definitely helped when her opponent had to touch her to use her quirk. It was hard to touch something you couldn't see.
After taking a moment to stretch his legs, Izuku turned back to the punching bag. He warmed up by giving it a couple jabs with his new base strength. Thanks to 'muscle enhancement' it created quite a bit of force, making a loud satisfying thud.
Izuku decided to try amp it up by using his old safe limit of 7% of One For All. He took a deep breath, before sending a right jab directly into the punching bag. The force of the blow made dust fly off of the bag, and he was actually able to make an indent on it.
To say Izuku was shocked was an understatement. Only 7% and already he could start to use a machine designed for Toshi's full strength. He experimented with a few more jabs followed by a right hook. Izuku was sure that his new 7% was at least 11% of his old power.
With a shine in his eye, Izuku decided to test a full 10%. He was able to use it without any strain at all, a far leap from his maximum strained percent being 9%. Izuku smirked, before sending a volley of hits at the punching bag. Each one landed with a resounded thud, and eventually even made the bag sway slightly.
Izuku did some more testing, eventually finding his new safe percentage was 13% with 15% usable while straining. Izuku imagined the large jump was mostly due to his 'shock absorption' rather than his 'muscle enhancement'.
" How's it coming along, young Midoriya?" Toshi asked, appearing behind the boy.
"O-oh, Tosh- All Might!" Izuku jumped, not expecting his mentor. "Uh, g-good. I've made a lot of progress. From 7% to 13!" Izuku informed him.
" Really?" Toshi questioned, " May I see?"
"Uh, sure." Izuku replied, taking his stance again. Izuku breathed out, letting One For All spark to life at his new 13% before sending a fep punches to the machine.
"My boy, that seems like more than 13%" Toshi pointed out.
"T-that's due to my new natural strength." Izuku explained.
"Really? That's mighty impressive." Toshi joked.
"Y-yeah." Izuku softly spoke, before looking at his mentor with a mischievous smile. "Toshi, wanna see what 50% looks like?"
Before the hero could respond, Izuku powered up his arm, feeling it try to rip apart, and send a punch. Immediately a blast of air shot outwards at every direction, followed quickly by a thunderous bang.
" Young man," Toshi sternly started. " What made you think that was a good idea?"
Izuku looked away from his arm that was healing from the blow and saw that his mentor had shielded his face from the wind, evident by his hair looking messier that it had been moments ago.
"Woah!" The voice of Mina called out, making the two turn round. The entire class had stopped and was staring at them, some of them looking disoriented from the air blast.
"That was SO MANLY!" Kirishima cheered.
The rest of his class went uneventfully, though any of his opponents were slightly wary of him after his test of power. He got to spar against about half of his class, Kirishima especially was excited to test his might against Izuku.
The second half of the class had Toshi bring the students back up to the classroom where they discussed how the sparring went, the hero then making notes of who was more advanced for future sparring classes. He then went over some theoretical rescue scenarios, asking how the students would react. Izuku noticed that not everyone was happy to be in the classroom for the second half, but he was loving it.
Just before the bell rung Toshi made a dramatic exit, giving the students time to chat and pack up.
"So Mido, what's your plan for the rest of the day?" Uraraka asked as she heaved her bag on.
"Uhh, I'm p-probably just going to plan how to train 'wave motion', I'd like it to get at the same level as my other quirks as soon as possible!" Izuku explained as he finished putting his notebooks in his bag.
"That is a good idea, Midoriya!" Iida chimed in. "One must never let any skill lag behind, lest it one day be necessary!"
"Jeez, do you ever relax?" Ashido asked, stretching in her seat.
"I'm sure he does!" Uraraka replied, making her way to the door, "Mido's shown me some of his artwor- WHAT THE HECK?!"
Everyone stopped and looked to what had stopped Uraraka. Just outside the door was a crowd of students that was completely stopping them from leaving. Izuku used 'location map' to count, and there were at least 30 students outside the door.
"What a crowd!" Mineta squeaked. "Wh-what are they all doing here?"
"They're scouting the competition," Todoroki stated bluntly, walking through the mass of students. "We're the class that fought off the villain attack after all."
"So this is the hero course, huh?" A tired sounding voice came from the crowd. Izuku tried to look into it, and a tall student made his way to the front. He had a slender build that accentuated his height. His purple wavy hair stood up right as if defying gravity. The boy has dark eye bags, making him look more tired than Aizawa. His name was Shinso, Izuku thought. He was pretty sure the boy was in his Investigation class.
"You don't look like much," he glared, standing a head taller than Izuku. "You know, there's lots of us that ended up thrown in gen-Ed because of that biased heroics exam."
He leaned in, getting slightly too close to Izuku for his liking. "Based on the results of the sports festival, that can be changed. One of you pompous heroics kids will have to be kicked out to give us the seat."
"U-uh-um actually," Izuku cut in, trying to stand up straighter. "T-there's already a s-seat free! So p-please try your best!" He awkwardly smiled.
"OI, you damned Deku!" The voice of Bakugo roared, creating a gap in the crowd for him to march down. "That seats mine! Don't you think for one second that I won't be back, and when I do I'll finally show everyone what a freak you are!" The blonde growled before leaving.
"God, what a prick." The purple haired boy scoffed. "At least you did one thing right, getting rid of an arrogant bastard like him."
"HEY, you!" A boy tried yelling, squeezing closer to the front. "I heard that you guys think you're all high and mighty just cuz you knocked around with villains!" He yelled.
"Wh-what?" Izuku asked. "I-I was terrified!"
"Excuse you!" Iida cut in. "Don't you know how disrespectful it is to make light of that situation! Our homeroom teacher was put into urgent care!" He scolded the boy.
"Yeah, well don't go lookin down on everyone makin us look bad!" He gruffed, before heading away.
"Wh-why is everyone so heated today?" Izuku wobbled, being held up by Uraraka.
The rest of Izuku's week went by less eventfully. His spare class time was spent strengthening his quirks, even getting Uraraka Iida and Tsu to help and work together. They eventually agreed that for the second week they'd do solo training so that they can have surprises for during the sports festival. After University ended for the day Izuku went to the beach to continue training. Once 'wave motion' came in Izuku started trying to use it as well. During the first couple days he spent trying to figure out what fuelled the beams.
After some strenuous use, Izuku realised his emotions fuelled it as he would feel duller and emotionally drained afterwards. Izuku also had the problem that he could only shoot off his highest energy beams, that drained him a lot quicker, so Izuku realised he would have to figure out how to regulate the power output.
Soon enough, Friday came and Izuku would finally find out what his mystery class on his timetable was. Izuku made his way to the designated room and opened it to find a room thr looked more like a 2-person office/study room.
One wall was covered in shelves and bookcases. The wall opposite from the door had a countertop with some cabinets and a sink and mini fridge. There were also some hanging plants to add some greenery. The other wall had 2 L-shaped desks with dual monitor set ups on them. The centre of the room had a curved sofa and coffee table.
"Wh-what?" Izuku asked, taking a step in.
"Ah, Mr Midoriya. What a pleasure to finally meet you!" A voice chirped from one of the desks. Izuku shot round, and saw a small, furred mammal in a suit that definitely wasn't there before.
"N-Nedzu, sir! Th-the pleasure is mine!" Izuku bowed, still confused about what was going on.
"Oh no, trust me the pleasure is mine," the principal smiled, before waving Izuku in. "Please, come to your desk!"
Slowly, Izuku made his way to the other desk as Nedzu hopped off of his seat and walked to the kitchenette and starting to boil a kettle.
"Now, I'm sure you're slightly confused about what is going on," The small mammal surmised as he pulled out to tea cups and tea bags. "Well to put it simply, I'd like to tutor you."
"Wh-what!" Izuku yelped in shock. "B-but you're Nedzu, the smartest creature in all of Asia. Why would you w-want to tutor me?"
"Well," nedzu started, pouring his tea. "Your written exam score was incredibly remarkable. That alone usually wouldn't get anything more than some advanced class work, however I was informed about a certain hobby you have that I believe is worth cultivating!" He explained as he set a cup of tea next to Izuku.
"W-what do you mean, sir?" Izuku asked as he took a sip of the tea, it was surprisingly nice.
"I've heard you have quite an impressive analysis skillset, I've even seen you carry around books sometimes."
"O-oh, you mean these?" Izuku asked, pulling his classmate notebook out and handing it to the Principal.
As the principal flipped through the pages, Izuku explained. "I usually carry around one on my classmates, one for general hero analysis and an extra in case it's needed. I wouldn't call it anything more than a hobby though."
"On the contrary!" Nedzu said with a laugh. "This work is incredibly impressive. I dare say you're a step away from my level of work, this isn't anything to toss aside. You have an incredible talent young man!"
"R-really? Izuku asked, tearing up. "T-thank you so much, sir. That's an incredible compliment!"
"I now know I was right to set up personal lessons," Nedzu chirped, continuing to read the notebook. "You have everything in here; how the quirk works, how they use it for their hero work, how you would battle against that type of quirk, weaknesses and how to counteract them, you even have possibilities for quirk improvement and super moves. This is way above professional level work!"
"W-well I've been doing it for as long as I could remember," Izuku explained. "I'd hope that I've improved in over 14 years." He joked.
"Yes, we'll that is what I would like to teach you!" Nedzu announced. "I'd like to help you hone your analysis into your sharpest weapon, as well as teach you other skill that will pair well with it."
"L-like what, sir?" Izuku asked, starting to feel a little excitement.
"Well, today I'll be testing your computer skills." Nedzu informed him. "I heard that you acquired some quirks from students during last weeks break in, so I'd like you to hack into the school's servers and find out which students the quirks are from."
"R-really sir?" Izuku asked. "I mean I-I've not done much coding or hacking, I doubt I could get into something you helped design!"
"Not to worry, I've created dummy replica servers for you to try on. The firewalls should be at a level that a second year with computer skills would struggle on!" Nedzu reassured. Izuku heard a buzz when Nedzu said it but dismissed it.
"O-ok sir." Izuku nodded, before booting up his computer. It seemed to be set up exclusively for Izuku, since once he signed on it asked for him to create a password. After making one that Izuku thought was secure enough, he started to test the computer.
He was very glad he looked into coding and programming when he thought he'd have to rely on support gear for heroism. Once Izuku felt ready enough, he started trying to get into the U.A. database. It seemed that Nedzu was off doing his own thing, though Izuku didn't remember hearing the door open or close.
It took longer than Izuku would have liked to breach the firewalls and get into the student database, but once he was in he found it much easier. Izuku made sure to take his time while reviewing each student, as there could be multiple with similar quirks.
Before he even knew it, time flied and Nedzu appeared back into the office space.
"Hello, Mr Midoriya! How is your search going?" the mammal asked.
"O-oh, Sir, you're back!" Izuku jumped, startled. "W-well I've got two of the three. I first checked the hero courses where I found Kendo Itsuka in 1-B!" Izuku explained. "I got a bit side tracked when I found her 2v2 simulations; I ended up making an analysis page on her." Izuku chuckled nervously as he handed Nedzu the page he made on the original big fist user.
"I then went on to the management department, but didn't find anything there," Izuku continued. "And I've just finished checking the Support department where I found who I got 'redrawn from'. A second year called Aojashin Ijiru."
"Well done, Midoriya. You did well considering the firewalls were at the level of the graduating programming exam." Nedzu smirked, being able to practically feel the shock oozing off of his student.
"W-w-what-what do y-you mean, sir?" Izuku sputtered out, not believing what he heard.
"Well, I thought it would do you some good to downplay the level of expertise needed for this exercise." Nedzu explained as he drank a cup of tea that Izuku didn't see him pour.
"W-why?" Izuku asked.
"Because from what I've seen, you have some confidence issues," Nedzu explained. "I may not be the best at understanding human emotions, but I do know that under confidence isn't a trait anyone wants. So, I thought that there wasn't any better way than to show that you are talented. To be honest, I was only expecting one of the students to be found." Nedzu explained. All the while Izuku was in his head thinking about a few things.
His mother had always told him that he was special and talented, but he presumed that she just said it because he was her son. But what took up the forefront of his mind was the buzz that sounded off when nedzu told him it was second year level work. He couldn't believe that he'd forgotten.
"I-I should have known you were lying." Izuku said in realisation. Nedzu stopped, looking at the boy with a little worry.
"What do you mean, young man?" He inquired.
"O-oh, well I have detective Tsukauchi's quirk," Izuku explained, trying not to sound rude. "I-I heard a buzzing when you told me it-it was second year work. I-I guess I just haven't heard it before, s-so I didn't know what it was."
"Ah, I see." Nedzu hummed out, "That will be an extremely useful quirk for you, Mr Midoriya, I highly suggest honing it."
"I-I know sir, I guess I just surround myself with honest people," Izuku said, a smile finding its way to his face.
"It appears so, and that makes you a lucky man!" Nedzu warmly replies. "Now, that's todays lesson over. Next week you'll be doing analysis, but until that I suppose you'll be preparing for the sports festival?"
"Y-yes sir," Izuku responds, standing up from his chair as his computer shuts down.
"Very good. Well if you need to rest, then this room is always free for you." Nedzu smirks. "It is your personal office now after all!"
"What!" Izuku asks in shock," w-what do you mean?"
"Well my student can only have the best, any less isn't good enough," Nedzu explains. "The room is yours to decorate however you wish, I trust you won't do anything unsavoury with the place!"
Before Izuku has a chance to respond Nedzu leaves, using the door for the first time. Izuku takes a moment before looking around, changes he could make starting to come to mind. He smiles, then decides to get to work.
Over the next period, Izuku plans out what to bring in from home, mainly some hero posters and models. He also takes a look at the bookshelves and decides to ask nedzu if he can change some for other books at the library.
After getting the go-ahead from Nedzu Izuku collects the books he wants to exchange and brings them down. After taking some time collecting new ones, mainly some sci-fi and fantasy since the books in his room was only educational, he heads back up and puts them away.
Before Izuku realised, the bell for lunch rung. He quickly found Uraraka, Iida and Tsu, and the four of them made their wait to the lunch hall.
"So how was class?" Izuku asked as he sat down with a bowl of Katsudon.
"I quite enjoyed my law class," Iida responded, picking up his chicken wrap. "We were going over some old cases that influenced modern laws!"
"Woah, cool!" Uraraka replied, mixing her egg rice. "I just had my metalwork class, it's mostly still stuff I know, so it's easy right now!"
"Lucky," Tsu chimed in as she took a spoonful of soup. "I had biology, it was difficult to understand."
"Biology? That's an interesting class, what made you take it?" Iida asked
"It's just something I had an interest in. My dad is a marine biologist so he made me quite knowledgeable in that area, Kero." She explained. "What about you Midoriya, how was your class?"
"Oh yeah, you had that mystery class right?" Uraraka yelled out, mouth still full of food.
"I still cannot believe that the administration would allow such a mistake on your timetable," Iida sighed.
"W-well it t-turns out that Nedzu wanted to t-take me on as a student, so the mystery slot was his class." Izuku explained, confused when he noticed Iida pale.
"N-nedzu?" He asked, eyes widening at Izuku's nod in confirmation. "My brother warned me about something like this, he said it was something that should never happen to anyone!"
"R-really?" Izuku asked in confusion "b-but he's really nice, he said he's j-just helping with my analysis!"
"My brother said that it starts like that, but he usually breaks a student before the first semester is over!"
"Iida it's fine, I even have my own office space!" Izuku excitedly exclaimed.
"YOU DO?!" Uraraka yelled in shock. "You gotta let us see it! Pleaaase!"
"Y-yea, sure-"
"MIDORIYA!" A bubbly voice echoed out from the other side of the cafeteria. Before Izuku could turn to see who it was the person crashed into him, hugging him from behind.
"Oh I knew it was you! It's me remember? your wave buddy! How are you doing, I've been looking for you everywhere! Have you been able to use my quirk? Have you gotten any more since then? Ooh you should meet my friends you'd love them! Are these your friends?" The voice chanted out, making Izuku realise exactly who it was.
"N-Nejire Chan!" Izuku smiled, though his face had gone red from the contact. "U-uh hi, of course I remember you. I'm good, how about you? I'm sorry I haven't found you sooner, I've been busy with classes. Yes I've been able to use it, but only at full power. No I haven't but that means I've had more time to practice with yours. I'd love to meet your friends, and yes these are mine."
"Oh I love love love that you are able to answer all my questions!" The bubbly girl squealed out, letting go. "Hi Izuku's friends I'm Hado Nejire your senpai!"
"It's extremely improper to engage in PDA like that out in the open, but it is pleasurable to meet you!" Iida replied, chopping his arm as he scolded her. Izuku notice that Uraraka was just pouting at the girl.
"Hi, I'm Asui Tsuyu, my friends call me Tsu," the frog quirked girl replied. "How do you know Midoriya?"
"Yeah," Uraraka frowned, "how do you know Mido?"
"Omg that nickname is so cute, are you his girlfriend?" Nejire asked, making Uraraka go crimson with embarrassment. "I met Midoriya when I got hurt during training, he healed me all up and copied my quirk, so now we're wave buddies!" She cheerfully explained, hugging Izuku again.
"Nejire! Don't run off like that!" A voice laughed out.
"Y-y-yeah, y-you d-dropped your l-lunch." A much quieter voice followed.
From within his hug, Izuku turned to see who was there. The first was a tall muscular blonde boy, he had a body shape that reminded Izuku of a younger Toshi with a vibrant smile of his own. The boy's eyes were small and button like, and his hair was a neat mullet that spiked at the front. Overall, the boy's tall height and build oozed confidence.
The second boy oozed the complete opposite. While he was slightly taller than the blonde, his slimmer build and hunched poster made the boy way less intimidating. His hair was a blue even darker than Iida's and swept down to his chin. The boy seemed to hide behind the other one.
"Mirio, this is the one I told you about, the one that healed me!" Nejire smiled out, patting Izuku's head as she pulled him out of his seat to show him off. Izuku awkwardly waved to the two.
"Midoriya, these are my friends, Togata Mirio and Amajiki Tamaki." She cheered gesturing to the blonde then the bluette , before leaning right up to Izuku's ear. "I'm pretty sure they're secretly dating but don't tell them I said anything!" She whispered.
"Guys, this is Midoriya Izuku," she confidently exclaimed, before pointing to Izuku's friends, "and this is blue hair, green hair, and Midoriya's girlfriend. I don't know their names yet!"
"I-I'm not his girlfriend," Uraraka shyly sighed in despair, Tsu patting her back.
"Greetings, I am Iida Tenya. It's an honour to meet our seniors!" Iida greeted, bowing awkwardly on the table.
"Hi, you can call me Tsu," the frog girl replied, waving.
"Ahaha, well it's nice to meet you all." Togata laughed out, before looking at Izuku. "So, you're the kid that can copy quirks, huh?"
"U-u-uh, y-yeah?" Izuku confirmed.
"…cool, I'd love to see how you are in a fight sometime!" He smiled.
"R-really?" Izuku asked.
"Ooh ooh, we should have a spar sometime, that would be so cool!" Nejire cheered.
"Sounds great, when you free?" Togata asked. Izuku handed him his timetable, which the senior quickly looked through. "Aha! Looks like we all have a free class next Wednesday. Wanna do it then?"
"Uh, s-sure!" Izuku asked, shocked that seniors wanted to hang out with him.
"Cool, we'll meet at ground gamma. I guess we'll see you then!" Togata smiled as Nejire finally let Izuku go.
"Ooh this is so exciting!" She cheered.
"C-c-can we g-go, O-our l-lunch is g-getting c-cold,"Amajiki asked quietly.
"Oh yeah, sure. See y soon Midoriya!" Togata said, waving goodbye before pulling Nejire away. The girl poured as she was dragged along, but waived goodbye anyway.
"Well, that was… interesting." Iida hummed as Izuku sat back down.
"You two seem close," Uraraka asked monotonously as she glared at Izuku slightly.
"I-I only met her once. I-I think she's just like that." Izuku explained, settling back into his lunch.
"That Amajiki boy, he's worse than you were at the start of the year." Tsu mentioned
"T-Tsu, it's incredibly rude to talk of somebody whilst they're not here!" Iida tried scolding.
"I-I-I'm getting better, I-I'm just not used to this kinda s-stuff," Izuku defended.
"So…" Uraraka started, "is it the free period we have together that you're doing it?" She asked, waiting for Izuku to nod. "Then do you think I could tag along and watch?"
"Y-yeah sure, the more the merrier!" Izuku smiled.
"Of course, it's only natural that one's partner would want to tag along." Iida cheekily smirked.
Uraraka groaned, her head hitting the table once again. "Iida, not you too!"
Izuku was feeling a burst of excitement. The weekend has gone fast and it was already Wednesday. He checked the clock, there was only 2 minutes left of his investigation class before it ended, and he got to meet the seniors. He enjoyed his investigation classes enough, it had a mix of psychology to help the students figure out peoples tells for lying, but he had 'lie detector' for that.
The bell rung, and Izuku quickly packed his stuff before rushing to the door. As he made his way through the building he ran into Uraraka.
"Hi Mido, how was class?" She asked as she stepped in line with him.
"Hi Uraraka! It was good, yours?" He replied.
"So boring, I'm starting to regret taking a class on a subject I already know!" She pouted, leaning into Izuku. "So, you ready for the fight of your life?"
"Hah, I'm sure it won't be that bad," Izuku joked.
The two made their way to the lockers, Uraraka deciding to change into her gym uniform as well. After getting into his uniform, Izuku tested out the expanding cloth gloves Toshi had gotten him for 'big fist'. He felt bed making his mentor pay for so many tools and accessories for Izuku, but he doesn't even get a chance to refuse before he buys them.
Entering the training hall, Izuku checked to see who was already here. Also in their gym uniforms were Amajiki, who was curled up in a ball on the ground, and Nejire who was floating above him using her quirk.
Across from them sitting on a bench was Uraraka who waved happily as soon as she saw Izuku.
Strangely enough, the only person Izuku couldn't find was the person he would be fighting, Togata.
"Hey guys, sorry I'm late!" The voice of the boy in question called out as he appeared from the other doorway. Izuku jogged up to Nejire and Amajiki as Togata arrived.
"Oh d-don't worry, I just got here too!" Izuku explained as he looked over. It appeared that Togata had worn his hero uniform. The base of it was a white top and blue bottoms. The white top had yellow accents going up his torso and on his shoulders, with a red cape flowing along his back. His white boots climbed all the way up to cover his knees, and his red gloves sat snugly on his face. The centrepiece of his costume was a large yellow '1,000,000' in the centre of his chest.
"W-whoa, cool costume!" Izuku assessed, committing it to memory for a future analysis project. "Sorry, I-I don't have my costume, it's being fixed."
"It's ok, junior!" Togata smiled, stretching. "I only wore this because of my quirk! Without it I… we'll I'll explain later, don't want to give away my advantage." He smirked.
"So, Togata." Uraraka chimed in, walking up to the four. "What's with the million on your chest?"
"Ooh I love this story!" Nejire cheered out. "Tell them tell them!"
"Ahah," Togata laughed, before explaining, "well, my goal as a hero is to save at least a million people! I know I can't save everyone, so I've set a goal that I can reach."
"Woah!" Izuku gleamed. "Th-that's amazing! What's your hero name?"
"I've gone for Lemillion," Togata stood proudly, before nodding to his two friends. "Nejire has called herself Nejire-Chan and Tamaki is Sun Eater."
"ooh ooh do you two have names yet?" Nejire asked, flying over them.
"um, I'm thinking of Uravity! It's a mix of my name and my quirks name." Uraraka explained.
"I-I don't really know yet." Izuku replied less confidently than Uraraka.
"Not to worry, junior! You have plenty of time to decide." Togata reassured. "Now, are you ready to go?"
"Y-yes, I am!" Izuku replied, as the two bowed to each other before walking to the other side of the arena.
"Oooohh this is so exciting!" Nejire cheered as she flew up higher.
"I-I-I-I h-hope th-they don't h-hurt each other t-too much." Amajiki whimpered, now sitting upright with his head on his knees.
"Alright guys, we'll do this to ring out or unconsciousness, ok?" Nejire announced, receiving a not from both. "Ok... START!"
Izuku breathed in, watching as Togata curled up before blasting to Izuku. The boy run through possible defences he could do but paused as Togata disappeared into the ground. Izuku spun around, looking for the boy. He could remember seeing Togata in the previous sports festivals but couldn't remember anything other than him losing his clothes.
Out of the corner of his eye, Izuku saw Togata shoot up and send a strike at him.
"POWERRRR!" The blonde yelled as he struck the side of Izuku's face, making him step backwards. He paused at the weak reaction to his punch. "Uh, usually it hurts more than that?"
"yeah well I doubt you've dealt with 'shock absorption' before!" Izuku smiled, letting One For All spark to life as he readied his counterattack. Izuku decided to start low with 5% to test how much Togata can take. He sent his fist flying at Togata's gut, both 'muscle enhancement' and One For All enhancing it for a solid blow, only for his fist to phase right through the boy. Izuku looked up in shock at Togata's smirking face
"Got ya!" The blond laughed, diving through Izuku, leaving his hands covering Izuku's face. Before Izuku could react, Togata pulled, flipping Izuku over onto his stomach. "If I can't knock you out, I'll have to pin you!"
Togata flew down onto Izuku, kneeling on one arm as he put Izuku into a chokehold and tried to use his other leg to restrain the first year's other arm. He wasn't fast enough however, as Izuku managed to twist his free arm, using 'explosion' to create a bright blast. Togata looked away, weakening his grip enough for Izuku to easily break free. He used his 'angel wings' to float out of Togata's reach.
"Not bad, junior!" Togata complimented, rubbing one eye. "Let's see what else you got." He roared as he dropped into the ground.
Izuku stayed high up and used 'location map' to find him, smirking when he saw Togata directly under him. He quickly shot to the side before turning back, letting himself drop to the ground as he instead powered up One For All to intercept. As Togata shot up expecting Izuku to still be flying in the air, he was instead met with a sparking first to his side. The boy shot back, landing on the edge of the boundary lines.
"Wow, not been hit like that in a hot minute!" Togata groaned, getting back up. "How'd you know where to hit?"
"A q-Quirk of mine gives me the location of p-people near me." Izuku explained, rubbing his jaw. "S-so, you have some kind of phasing Quirk?"
"Yep, I call it permeation!" Togata called as he rushed towards Izuku, slipping into the ground before shooting out at faster speeds. The two exchanged punches, Izuku's 'shock absorption' and 'super regeneration' letting him shake off the blows while Togata phases through Izuku's hits. "Let's me phase through anything!"
"Really…" izuku hummed, getting an idea. "So if everything goes through you while you phase," Izuku started, sending a fist towards Togata's face. As the boy phased through it, Izuku followed through, getting behind his opponent. "Then you can't see what I'm doing!" Izuku called, as he summoned 'BlackWhip' to wrap around Togata as he solidified, pulling him up before throwing him to the ground.
"Come on Mirio, don't give up!" Nejire cheered from the side-lines.
"Yeah Mido, you can do it!" Uraraka yelled in response.
"Ouch, well played little junior." Togata groaned, huffing on one knee. "But don't think that's all I got."
Togata dived into the ground, shooting back up into the air. Izuku flew up to meet him, using his momentum to keep him afloat at he switched to One For All to swing a kick, leaving a rope of 'BlackWhip' as a back up. The blonde phases through Izuku like expected, but instead used his own move against him, grabbing the boy's arm and pulling him to the ground, crashing onto him.
Izuku quickly used his strength to throw Togata off of him, before getting up. He sparked again, preparing for another brawl. Togata came into contact, starting with a blow to Izuku's gut that he threw off as he went for the Blonde's head. As they traded blows Izuku noticed Togata deciding to dodge face hits instead of phasing, learning from the battle.
Izuku tried deciding how to end the stalemate when suddenly Togata phased through him. Izuku turned to defend when the Blonde poked him in the eyes. Izuku fell back, yelping as 'super regeneration' healed the stinging. Using 'location map' he noticed Togata picking up speed, bouncing all over the place.
"Phantom MENACE!" Togata cried, sending a haymaker at Izuku's face as he shot out of a wall. The hit connected, sending Izuku sprawling back to his knees.
"Ow, jeez I felt that," Izuku cried, his cheek red before healing up. Izuku's eyes widened when he realised how much he felt that, realising that he must have overused 'shock absorption'.
"Come on, little junior! Is one good hit all it takes to make you tap out?" Togata taunted, his messy hair flowing as he hops from foot to foot.
Izuku sighed, before getting up and engaging again. He sent a couple fists at Togata, making sure to actually dodge the boy's returning blows, before leaning backwards to power up a punch. Togata reacted accordingly, aiming for Izuku's exposed closer side. Izuku smirked, his feint working as One For All dropped, and 'big fist' activated on his other hand, smashing into Togata's leg.
"Damn little junior," Togata grunted, grabbing onto his sore leg. "You really know how to trip me up! No matter what plan I come up with, you can counteract it!"
"Y-you're not too bad either," Izuku smiled, still feeling the phantom pain from Togata's punch. "I-I just managed to figure out your weakness; your quirk taking away your senses. But no matter what I do, you're able to adapt so that you don't get hit again!" He started fanboying.
"Yeah, well I don't adapt as fast as you," Togata joked, spitting a bit of blood onto the floor. "Seriously I can hardly predict what you're going to do, you're a total wildcard!"
"Uh g-g-guys, d-d-don't y-you think th-that's enough?" Amajiki asked, looking over at the two. Izuku looked over, seeing that they had been sparring for nearly 15 minutes. It explained why he was feeling so tired.
"Heh, I guess we did kinda far a bit too into it?" Togata joked, rubbing his leg.
"That was sooo amazing, you were able to fight Mirio to a standstill!" Nejire yelled out in awe, before zooming up to Togata. "Mirio, you almost lost to a first year! Was it tough? You had to use one of your special moves! You know, your spot in the big three might be in jeopardy." She giggled out.
"The big three?" Uraraka questioned, walking up to Izuku.
"Oh, did we not tell you?" Togata asked as Amajiki helped him back to his feet. "We're the top three of UA!"
"Uhh, Mido, do you know what that is?" Uraraka whispered as she leaned into his ear.
"Uhhhmmm," Izuku hummed, scanning through his memories. "Nothing I can think of?"
"Ooh ooh, can I tell them?" Nejire asked, getting a nod from Togata. "The big three are the top heroics students, the ones most likely to become top heroes in terms of battle prowess! That's us!" Nejire smirked, posing confidently in contrast to Amajiki who was trying to hide behind Togata.
"W-whoa, really!?" Izuku geeked out. "Y-you three are U.A.'s top students?"
"Yep!" Nejire confirmed, before pointing to Togata. "Mirio is even said to have a real chance at being no.1! And you fought him to a standstill Midoriya!!"
Woah…" Uraraka gasped, "Mido you're incredible!" She cheered, hugging his arm.
"This is where you've been Nejire!" A voice asked out as the doors to the gym opened. Izuku looked over and saw a girl that Izuku presumed was Nejire's friend. She had short cropped salmon brown hair, and piercings in her ears. She was average height and wore her uniform loosely.
"I was wondering where you'd gone off to!" She sighed, before noticing Izuku. "So… you're that junior she's be talking about, huh?"
"N-n-Nejire-Chan, you talk about me?" Izuku asked, worried due to the girls accusatory tone.
"Ooh YuYu Chan, you'll never believe it!" Nejire excitedly clapped, running up the the girl. "Midoriya and Mirio fought, to a standstill!"
"What?" The girl, YuYu Nejire called her, asked, her voice going lower. She looked back at Izuku, her eyes widening before quickly scrunching up into a glare as she walked up to him. "What do you want with my friend?" She asked, poking his forehead.
"W-w-w-wh-wha-wha I-I-I-I-I- d-do-" Izuku started stuttering out, eyes starting to water at the interrogation. He was stopped by Nejire's gasp as she appeared next to the two.
"Omg omg omg, Midoriya she touched you! Does that mean you'll get her quirk too?" She asked excitedly.
"Wha- m-my quirk?" YuYu yelped, grabbing her arm as she took a step back.
"Yeah, yeah! Midoriya can copy quirks, that's why he's my wave buddy!" She cheered, grabbing onto Izuku and hugging him.
"H-he has my bone armour?" She asked apprehensively.
"B-bone armour?" Izuku coughed through the tight hug. He wished he didn't wear out 'shock absorption' before the killer squeeze.
"M-my quirk, it lets me create bone armour." YuYu explained as she showed off her forearm. Plates of white bone appeared on top of her arm in the shape of the muscles found on the arm.
"W-whoa!" Izuku exclaimed as he started speeding up the process until he felt the buzzing appear across his body.
From the benches, Uraraka, Togata and Amajiki watched the three discuss Izuku's new quirk.
"Well, it seems your boyfriend is getting a lot of attention from the ladies," Togata laughed out. "You'll need to keep him on a tighter leash!"
"H-he's not my boyfriend!" Uraraka scribed out, her cheeks becoming a darker red.
"Wait a second!" Izuku yelled out, catching the three's attention, "why didn't I use 'Erasure'!"
