Chapter 11 - 11. Snorpion attack

-kheeeeeekh!!!

"Get away!"

Alec yelled for others to step aside. It had long fangs. The giant snake attacked with it's mouth where they were standing before. The sand flew in the air with its attack.

"What the hell is this?!"

Sir Richard pulled William behind him as the lad was without any weapon.

"A snake? Anaconda?" Alec pointed at its fangs.

"But why would there be an anaconda in a desert?!"

He pulled out his sword. Everyone was already sweating buckets because of heat and now they have to slay it to pass?

"Once we go back, the first thing we do Is get you a dagger!" Sir Richard glared at the snake who was still half inside sand.

'this is bad...just how long is it under the sand?'

The snake was huge, its shrinking eyes searched for target. It two long teeth stuck out from its upper jaw.

Everyone stopped moving, wondering if it can only detect a moving target.

"William....what...is this?"

William, who was furiously looking for it in his book while hiding behind Sir Richard.

"I don't know for sure....a desert snake?"

"Well, it ain't looking like a normal snake for sure."

Sir Richard raised his sword slightly, ready to just cut it.

"Behind you!!"

Alec yelled when he spotted a Scorpio's tail behind, pointing at Sir Richard and William. Without wasting a second, he sprunt to their side and stabbed the tail.

-Kheeeeeekh!!!!!

"Ahh!"

The tail belonged to the snake. It violently spun it's tail. It's eye shrunk even more.

Alec was holding the sword stabbed into the snake. So he was spinning along with the tail. His body limping like a cotton doll.

"Alec!!"

William yelled. The snake's focus got on Alec. It twisted it's body around Alec, capturing him like its prey. It hissed when its blazing eyes pierced at the trapped prey.

"Agh!!"

It was squeezing Alec's body in an attempt to just crush him.

"A snorpion..." Sir Richard mumbled when he saw the full body of that snake.

"A snorp-..."

William's eyes widened in realization and he quickly turned the book pages and only stopped when he saw the picture of a snake with a Scorpio's tail.

He lifted his head.

"Alec! Hang in there! We'll come and get you!"

At William's shout, the snorpion turned to look at William and Sir Richard.

-hissss

"Ek!" William quickly hid again. Sir Richard raised his sword and glanced at William.

"Tell me what to do."

Sir Richard tightened his grip on his sword and dashed towards the snake.

"Haaaaaa!"

The snake noticed him and attacked with it's mouth. He dodged the snake's head attack and jumped on it. He climbed on top and stabbed his liane sword, almost near Alec. The snake let out a sharp screech and released it's grip on Alec.

-khaaaaaaahhh!!!

They both fell down in the hot sand. Alec's sword dropped right next to his face. He gulped and grabbed it, rushing aside. The snake attacked Alec with it's mouth, which he dodged precisely.

It's tail pointed towards Sir Richard. With a clash, he blocked the attack.

"Cut it's tail near the sting!!"

Sir Richard heard William's words and tried to aim at the tail. The sword came down hard but the creature quickly moved it's tail and the metal collided with the sting instead.

"It stopped the attack?!" William was amazed by the intellect of the snorpion. On the other hand, Alec was having a hard time, distracting it's attention away from Sir Richard and William. He managed to stab his sword in the snorpion's eye. It screeched in pain.

-Kheeeeeekh!!!!!

Sir Richard got time to aim and he landed his sword directly below it's sting, cutting it off smoothly.

-Khaaaaaaahhh!!

Just as Sir Richard landed on the sand, the snorpion, with it's long fangs, launched towards him.

"Step away!!"

In an instant, the snorpion's head was where Sir Richard had been standing.

"Cough cough...thanks Lockheart..."

Sir Richard got up from the sand. In the last moment, Alec had pulled Sir Richard away from there. The snorpion roared. Alec stood straight and tightened his grip on his sword.

"Uh... anyone?"

Sir Richard and Alec turned their face towards William upon hearing his voice. In front of William was the fierce snorpion, boiling in fury. It saw William defenceless and scared. It must've thought of William for an easy prey.

William took a step back.

"This...is not good... I'm telling you...I don't even taste good."

The snorpion roared and dashed towards William, wanting to engulfed him once and for all.

"Ahhh! Help!"

He ran for his life. On the other hand, Alec and Sir Richard positioned their weapons and rushed towards the snorpion.

"The head's yours, Lockhart!"

"Got it!"

Sir Richard slammed his sword right in its tail. The snorpion roared and raised it's head up in pain. William stumbled and went away from it's sight.

Alec used this chance to jump on its back and ran upward to it's head. The snorpion turned its head towards its tail and that's when Alec struked his sword into its head.

-Khaaaaaaahhh!!

It leaned its head forward. Sir Richard pulled William away from the snorpion.

"You stand back!"

Alec gripped the sword again tightly and pressed it further inside.

"Aghh!!"

-Kheeeeeekh!!!

With one last roar, the snorpion fell down. None of them moved for a whole minute. Observing its movements. When it didn't move, Alec haved a sigh of relief. He pulled out sword.

"Hump!..."

He jumped down from its head.

"I never thought I'll see a creature like this in my life."

Even if he was nearly eaten alive, William was still curious about the snorpion now dead on spot. It's stomach was just three inches shorter than William.

"Yes. But I never thought we'll have to kill one, too."

Sir Richard felt its rough scales under his gloved hand.

"My body still aches from his strongly it held me." Alec massaged his shoulders, groaning in pain.

"That's right. Are you okay? And you helped killing it , too."

William's voice was filled with concern and worry about his brother's well being. But Alec just smiled in response.

"Yeah. It's better now."

William took a deep breath from relief. Sir Richard crouched down and pulled out a butterfly knife.

"Can we eat it? Is that why you're going to cut it?"

William bent down to see what he was doing. Alec also approached them.

"Eat it? Are you sure it's safe? Wouldn't it be venomous?"

Alec felt the scales, scratching them out of genuine curiosity.

"We'll see if we can eat it. Let's hurry and get out of here before the valtures think we're their food."

At Sir Richard's comment, Alec and William looked up and indeed, there was three to four valtures hovering over the dead snorpion. They helped sir Richard cut some meat from the snorpion and packed it. They left the rest of the snorpion to the valtures to feast on. The size of the snorpion was too big for the valtures to eat for the next two months or maybe three if not many animals eat it.
