After Ma Lin and the others built one grass house for them, they learned how, as it wasn't too difficult.
They also received several bundles of rope to tie the branches together.
With a roof, it would feel very warm; without one, it would be very uncomfortable.
Five people were housed in a room five meters long and two meters wide, each sleeping in a pile of hay. They felt warm, but terribly itchy.
Eight people were staying without a roof.
The hay they brought was not thick enough.
They faced a dilemma: staying near the fire pot risked the hay burning; staying away from it felt cold.
