Chapter 2 - The Templar Knights and the messenger from the palace

A temple servant saw the crime he committed. The servant's face turned pale as she ran away. Bel was about to chase her, however, he heard some noise from outside.

If he wasn't mistaken those were chariots and horses.

'It can't be helped. I have to prioritize escaping for now.'

After Bel fled, the Templar Knights entered the place where the Summoning Ritual was held.

What!?

The scene that greeted their eyes shocked them.

"What happened here?" The captain of the Templar Knights asked in a bewildered tone.

They saw bodies bathed in their own blood.

"Aren't they the ones doing the ritual? How did they end up like this?" The messenger from the palace asked.

Without minding his question, the captain looked at his men. "What are you standing up for? Hurry and check each one of them. See if any of them are still alive and don't forget to identify each one of them."

"Yes, captain!"

His men rushes to check the bodies.

The captain turned his gaze to the other members.

"And you, hurry up, check the whole temple. Look for those who saw the incident if there are any and don't forget to look for any traces of intruders."

"Yes sir!"

His men immediately obeyed his orders. The captain frowned and wondered who attacked them. He hoped the archbishop was somewhere safe.

The messenger approached the Templar Knights Captain and asked.

"Captain Aralim, what do you think? Could this be the work of the Demon King's minions?"

The captain's eyes narrowed slightly. Before answering, he approached the corpse in the middle. He could no longer recognize it because it was headless and its clothes were all stained with blood. However, he saw his answers. He immediately shook his head at the messenger's question.

"I don't know, but I don't think so?" The captain replied.

"No?" The messenger asked again.

"The shape and depth of their wounds are consistent with the sword. If they were really killed by the Demon King's minions, I'm sure their wounds wouldn't look like this."

The messenger narrowed his eyes. "I see. You're right, Captain."

Suddenly, one of the Templar Knights members who were tasked to check the victims called out.

"Captain! Look!"

It points in a direction. The two noticed that it was pointing at the statue. When they turned around and looked in that direction, their eyes widened. They saw the severed head in the open palm of the statue.

"That's… A-Archbishop Juan Castro!"

The Templar Knights Captain and the messenger from the palace exclaimed in shock.

Sometimes later, one of the Templar Knights members he ordered to investigate the surrounding came back.

"Captain! We found someone who claims to have seen the incident!"

"Really?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Alright, good job, where are they?"

"Please follow me."

They immediately left the scene.

While the Templar Knights were investigating the incident, someone was looking at them from a distance.

It was Bel.

When he first came to this world, the Templar Knights were assigned to escort him to the palace with the messenger to meet the king.

He remembered everything.

He seemed to have come back to life. He didn't know how it happened, but he returned to the past when he had just summoned in this world.

In his previous life, he fulfilled his mission. After he killed the demon king, they did not grant his wish. Rather, he was made a sinner in the eyes of the people.

Fearing that his fame would surpass the name of the royal family and the church, these two branches collaborated in order to bring him down. They threw baseless accusations at him just to make the people angry with him.

In the end, they killed him by brutally beheading him. He couldn't do anything to save himself because they had a weapon to stop the circulation of divine power in his body.

Therefore, he was killed like a chicken.

What he originally thought was a new life in this other world turned out to be another nightmare later on.

Bel was fed up. Tired of being a meek sheep. He didn't want to be fragile anymore. Now everyone could witness how he would save humanity in his own way.

Whether he liked it or not, he was still the hero destined to end the demon king's life. He still needed to fulfill that mission so that he could get the way to return to his original world.

The remains of his parents and only sibling were buried in that land, so he wanted to go back there to light a candle for them again. So, no matter what happens, he will return there.

While looking down at the temple and the Templar knights from the high cliff, he carefully planned his next move.

'In my current condition, I don't have enough strength to defeat that many Templar Knights. I know how strong each of them is, especially their captain who is at the highest level of his weapon ability. On the contrary, my body is not used to its new strength. Due to the sudden increase in power, it could be destroyed if I am not careful with my actions. And one more thing, I can't fight them as long as I have the Divine Seal. I need to get rid of it as soon as possible. But if I remove it right away, I will lose the power that can help me in the fight...'

'My situation is a little bit complicated. Although it gives tremendous power, this Divine Seal also comes with a danger to my life. It was precisely because of this seal that I was captured without resistance by the combined forces of the palace soldier and the Templar Knights. It isn't only a source of power but also a shackle…'

'I have to think of another way to fight them without it so that what happened to me in my first life won't repeat in this life…'

Looking at the Templar Knights below, he was sure that they already knew what had happened. It looked like they were questioning the temple servant who saw the incident.

'Anyway, it's dangerous to stay here. I'm sure the witness will tell them about my appearance. In that case, I need to find a good disguise.'

Bel started moving towards the city. 'Mixing in the crowd of people where strangers from different places meet can be a good concealment,' Bel thought.

But still, he needed to find some helpful stuff.

In his mind, he was searching for useful things that he could benefit from. After a few moments of reminiscing, he remembered something.

"That's right. Tomorrow there is an important event that I can take advantage…"

After whispering that to himself, he left the place.
