The two brawled wildly on the ramp, throwing punches, crawling over each other. Security swarmed the area. Referees and producers ran out to pull them apart. But the two men refused to be separated. Sandro landed a knee to Shawn's ribs. Shawn responded with a right hand that bloodied Sandro's lip.
The commentary team went wild.
"Forget about the winner of the Royal Rumble that will headline WrestleMania, these two might kill each other right now!" Striker exclaimed.
"The hate between these two just went nuclear!" Lawler shouted.
Finally, the officials managed to drag both men apart, each held by multiple security personnel. Shawn screamed, "You took it from me! You took it from me!" while Sandro spat back, "You should've finished the job!"
They were escorted behind the curtain, still throwing verbal jabs as they disappeared into the backstage area.
Meanwhile, the action in the ring continued. Batista, Cena, and Edge, three titans of the modern era, traded bombs back and forth. Near eliminations came fast and furious. Edge dodged a Batista Bomb. Cena countered a Spear. Batista clotheslined both men over but they skinned the cat to stay in.
In the end, it was Edge who outlasted them all. He ducked a clothesline from Batista and hit a big boot that sent the Animal flying over the top rope.
ELIMINATION: BATISTA
Then he caught Cena as he tried to lift him for an Attitude Adjustment. Edge reversed the hold, used Cena's momentum against him, and pushed him to the outside over the top rope.
ELIMINATION: JOHN CENA
THE BELL RANG.
"EDGE HAS DONE IT! EDGE WINS THE 2010 ROYAL RUMBLE!" Cole screamed.
"Congratulations to Edge on his first Royal Rumble win!" Lawler slammed his hand in excitement at the commentary table.
The crowd erupted in pure joy.
"From possible retirement to redemption! From threatening medical injury to immortality! Edge is going to WrestleMania!" Striker roared.
Edge knelt in the center of the ring, tears in his eyes, pointing to the WrestleMania sign above. His journey was complete.
The fans gave a standing ovation and cheers for the Rated R Superstar in the center of the ring, as he stood up filled with high emotion, wiping tears from his eyes. Edge, overwhelmed by the moment, slowly raised his hands in his signature pose, fingers spread apart like devil horns with his thumbs tucked in. The crowd erupted once again.
Pyro exploded above the WrestleMania sign as Edge pointed to it, the commentary team letting the moment breathe with awe.
"What a night! What a comeback!" Cole exclaimed.
"This is what dreams are made of, guys! Edge is back, and he's headed to WrestleMania!" Lawler added.
Meanwhile, on social media, the wrestling world was in a frenzy. Twitter was lit up with hashtags like #RoyalRumble, #RatedRReturns, #EdgeIsBack, and another one that quickly rose to the top, that is #SandroZhangDebut.
While Edge's return and victory were front and center, the debut of a previously unannounced competitor was making just as many waves. Sandro Zhang. Wrestling magazines, analysts, and fans across the globe were in shock over the surprise entrance of one of the most hated and simultaneously most respected heels in recent wrestling history.
Nobody saw it coming. No leaks, no rumors, not even the dirt sheets. FCW and TNA had kept everything airtight after the second Forbidden Door Pay Per View, which marked the end of their one year partnership.
The same pay per view where Sandro and the rest of the Undisputed System lost all of their gold in one night, a shocking collapse of their reign of terror that had lasted for over a year across two promotions.
That night, Sandro himself was dethroned by none other than the Immortal Hulk Hogan in a moment that broke the internet.
Now, just weeks later, Sandro had walked into WWE's Royal Rumble and not only made a statement but set a tone that had the wrestling world buzzing. Five eliminations.
Dominant ring presence. Incredible psychology. And the biggest betrayal of the night, and when he tossed Shawn Michaels over the top rope after they had come to an unofficial agreement to work together.
Fan reaction was wild.
Some fans were furious, others delighted. Many were shocked, and some were calling it the most electric heel debut since Kane.
On the internet, at Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, theories were already being built. Was this the beginning of a new rivalry between Sandro and Shawn Michaels? Were they about to see a deeply personal storyline unfold leading to Shawn finally having his rematch at WrestleMania?
Meanwhile, backstage, the man of the moment had finally taken a breath.
Sandro sat on a bench in the gorilla position, sweat still trickling down his face, adrenaline still half pumping through his veins, but the moment had begun to set in. It was real now. His debut was done. The crowd had seen him. The world had felt his presence.
Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Shawn Michaels, and even Vince McMahon himself approached him. Each wore an expression that mirrored admiration and curiosity.
"You killed it out there," Triple H said with a clap on Sandro's shoulder.
"I couldn't take my eyes off your ring awareness," Stephanie added.
Shawn, grinning but still catching his breath from their post elimination brawl, laughed. "You bastard. You got me. That's how it should be. I loved every bit of that moment. The crowd was into it. You saw the fire in their eyes, didn't you?"
Sandro, still catching his breath, looked around. "It was... surreal. I didn't even know if it would work. I was just thinking, 'How do I make something happen? How do I take a risk and make it count?'"
"You made it count," Vince McMahon finally said, stepping forward. "I rarely hand these out, but tonight, well done. That was one of the best debuts I've seen in years. The camera loves you. Your facials? Top tier. Your awareness in the ring? Veteran level. And you knew exactly how to push the audience's buttons."
Sandro blinked, stunned. Praise from Vince McMahon was nearly unheard of, especially for a debut.
He swallowed and nodded. "Thank you, sir. Truly. I'll keep pushing myself to earn that again."
Shawn chuckled. "You better. Because I'm looking forward to this storyline. I want it to burn. I want it to explode. Not just some throwaway betrayal. Let's make this story about obsession, redemption, and ego. I don't want to just be the guy begging for a match with Taker anymore. Let me go through you."
Sandro couldn't help but grin. "Honestly? That was my pitch. I was worried you wouldn't go for it. You and Taker have history, and your story was already ongoing. I didn't want to overstep."
Shawn shook his head. "Are you kidding? We loved the idea. Taker and I both were in on convincing Vince. You lit the fire. We're going to carry it."
Triple H and Stephanie exchanged knowing glances. Stephanie smiled. "Now go get some rest. We know your family's waiting. And tell Jack and Taylor we said hi."
Sandro nodded, emotion bubbling in his chest. "Thanks. For everything."
He left the area, walking through private hallways and past WWE staff who gave him congratulatory nods. He could feel his heart slowing, his body reminding him of every bump and fall he had taken in the match.
Then he stepped into the VIP suite.
Immediately, he was swarmed by three voices shouting in excited unison.
"You jerk!"
April, Nikki, and Alexa tackled him in a group hug, all of them laughing and half crying as they poured praise on him.
"You didn't tell us!" Nikki shouted.
"We were dying out here!" Alexa added.
April pinched his arm. "You had us worried sick and then screaming our heads off."
"Ow... ow... okay!" Sandro winced, laughing in pain. "It was supposed to be a surprise! You got surprised, right?"
"You got punched in the mouth!" Alexa said with a grin.
"By Shawn freakin' Michaels!" April chimed in.
"So worth it," Sandro mumbled, wiping his lip.
Then two slower, warmer voices joined from the couch nearby.
"Congratulations, son. You stunned the world," Jack said, pride evident in his voice.
"And your mother nearly fainted," Taylor added with a hand over her heart, smiling.
The girls froze, suddenly remembering that Sandro's parents were in the room the whole time. Embarrassed, they let go of him and tried to compose themselves.
Sandro chuckled. "Don't worry, they know you three are crazy already."
Jack laughed. "Crazy or not, you've got a good support team here. You'll need them. Because after tonight... things are going to change. Fast."
Taylor nodded, her voice soft. "That ring may be a stage, but what you're doing out there, it means something. You're telling stories people feel."
Sandro's eyes moistened again. The chaos of the ring was behind him, but the emotional weight of what just happened was only now starting to settle in.
He took a deep breath, looking out at the ring below where fans were beginning to disperse as the show had ended.
"This is just the beginning."
In the following time, WWE's official YouTube channel posted a backstage exclusive showing the Sandro and Shawn confrontation, including clips from their violent post-elimination brawl. The video soared to millions of views overnight.
WWE.com posted an official statement from SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long since the RAW General Manager was an anonymous figure, teasing that the conflict between Shawn Michaels and Sandro would be addressed on RAW.
Wrestling journalists began speculating wildly about how it would play out, Would it culminate at Elimination Chamber? Would Sandro cost Shawn his rematch again? Was he going to be positioned as the ultimate roadblock?
Edge's moment still stood tall, but Sandro Zhang had carved his name into the landscape in just one night. From hated heel to the next big star, his journey had only just begun.
The scene then shifted away from the roar of the crowd and the flashing lights of the Royal Rumble arena as the days changed into the next day. Shifting to the quiet, professional atmosphere of WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. Inside a large, glass walled conference room, tension crackled in the air like static.
Sandro sat at the long table, freshly showered, suited, but still carrying the quiet intensity of the man who had shaken the wrestling world just hours ago. This was not a casual meeting.
Gathered before him were the key architects of WWE's creative machine, Vince McMahon at the head of the table, flanked by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Bruce Prichard, Michael Hayes, John Laurinaitis, Paul Heyman, Theodore Long, and a few other influential names in the room formed a semicircle of opinions, egos, and agendas.
Stephanie opened the meeting with her usual sharpness. "Let's talk direction. The Royal Rumble was a huge success, and Sandro's debut trended across every major platform. We need to decide tonight what brand he officially lands on so we can begin the Monday Night build."
Paul Heyman tapped a folder in front of him. "RAW. There's no question. The story is built in. The crowd wants blood after what happened with Shawn. This is the natural continuation. You don't cut off momentum like that."
Sandro nodded calmly, hands folded. "With all respect, I want RAW. The fans expect resolution, or at least a development. Anything else, and you start from scratch."
Theodore Long chimed in, his Southern drawl deliberate but passionate. "And just to back that up, I've already sent a statement to WWE.com. Said the fallout between Sandro and Shawn would be addressed on RAW as part of kayfabe. The audience has seen it. We can't walk it back now, playa."
Triple H and Stephanie shared a look before Hunter leaned forward. "Exactly. And it's not just about continuity. RAW is where we build stars, where we showcase guys who can work main event programs week after week. We'd like to be involved in Sandro's long term creative because we see potential in him to carry storylines for years to come."
Stephanie added, "He's a future main eventer and even the next big thing. I'm not going to dance around it. We trust his instincts, and we trust Sandro's ability. He's not a flash in the pan debut. This is someone we want to cultivate." Vince sat back, rubbing his chin as murmurs filled the room. He was listening, processing.
