Shakyamuni mentioned the six realms of samsara, but based his explanation on the emotional foundations of greed, anger, and ignorance—these cause worldly filth to increase by the day, driving the spirit closer to the lower three realms of samsara. This cycle is endless because without fundamental change, each cycle is a descent under burden. The ultimate result is falling into Eternal Hell, eternally suffering from the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance, with no chance of liberation.
Even when you have intermittent changes in time, you can't change habits. In the uninterrupted torment of the eternal cycle, what chance is there for nirvana and rebirth?
The rarity of human life implies that only humans have the attribute of doubt. Because of doubt, one ponders the true meaning of life. Therefore, whenever you doubt the meaning of actions, you have a chance to change.
