Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Beyond the Stars, Beyond the Sea

At Mary Geoise, after sending the 'World Government Reform Proposal' to the Five Elders, Imu finally felt a wave of relief wash over him.

What he had written wasn't all that detailed.

It merely outlined his general ideas, drawing heavily from knowledge and experiences from his past life.

Of course, carrying out this plan would still require the cooperation of the Five Elders, as well as elite professionals from across the seas—administrators, financiers, and more—to conduct joint research and discussions. It was bound to be a long and complex process.

Fortunately, there were still four years before the next World Summit, giving them ample time to prepare.

At that moment, Imu had entered a phase of sudden inactivity. Although his former self had lived like this for centuries, he was different—he actually got bored.

Lying back on the couch out of habit, Imu casually opened up his golden cheat ability: the 'Star Map'.

Instantly, a breathtaking panoramic view of the star-filled sky unfolded before his eyes.

It was one of his daily small pleasures. No matter how many times he saw it, this real-time, ever-updating cosmic starmap never failed to stun him. It was awe-inspiring.

Especially from this bird's-eye perspective—it fed his craving for control and stirred his ambition to explore the stars.

In other words, Imu was the only one in Starfish World who truly knew what the universe was like. Everyone else could only guess.

Controlling the view with his mind, he zoomed in on the region where Starfish World was located.

After enlarging the view more than a dozen times, a deep blue planet finally came into focus, encircled by six large and two small satellites—and adorned with what looked like a 'red ribbon'.

This was the One Piece World he lived in. He called it Starfish World.

Amusingly, among the eight satellites, the smallest one was actually a moon of another moon.

What astonished him most was that from within the Starfish World, looking up into the sky, only the Moon could be seen.

The other satellites were completely invisible—even the ones larger than the Moon.

Some were only slightly smaller, yet it was as if they simply didn't reflect or receive sunlight at all.

Fortunately, Imu wasn't an astronomer, so he didn't dwell too much on the mystery.

Instead, he slightly zoomed out on the starmap, just enough to take in the full view of the planetary system Starfish World belonged to.

"One sun, and including Starfish World, six planets total? Starfish World seems to be the largest… and it's the only one with satellites?" Imu studied each detail of the star system with great interest.

"Come to think of it, Starfish World really is enormous. Each of the four major seas—East, West, North, and South—looks as vast as the Pacific Ocean from my previous life…"

Because he had spent so much time alone, he had developed the habit of talking to himself.

That was one reason why he'd decided to go out and explore. If he stayed holed up any longer, he'd lose his mind—even if he wasn't already crazy.

"Right, I remember that in the original manga, Enel ran into a so-called Space Pirate Crew on the Moon. So maybe there are actually quite a few aliens active in this region of space!"

"Although, according to the original story, there's no major alien invasion plotline in the next twenty years or so… but who's to say it'll stay that way? With my presence now in the mix, what if one day a few alien battleships really do show up out of nowhere?"

Suddenly, Imu realized that the threats he faced weren't limited to internal conflicts on Starfish World. There were also potential threats from beyond the stars.

That faint sense of crisis, which had momentarily faded, crept back into his heart once more.

"And this starmap's description—it never said civilizations don't exist. From another angle, it might as well be confirming that there are planets with civilizations. And the Dimensional Gate is just a teleportation channel under my control that links to them."

"So then… what kind of civilizations might be out there on those planets?"

A chilling and nerve-wracking possibility suddenly occurred to him.

As someone who had read countless online novels, he could easily make some bold predictions based on the nature of this golden cheat ability.

Since a world like One Piece exists, doesn't that mean other anime worlds might exist too?

"Exactly—that's one of the most common tropes!"

Imu suddenly jumped to his feet. He couldn't sit still any longer. Rushing out onto his balcony, he looked up at the starry sky.

At this very moment, those beautiful stars started to seem terrifying in his eyes.

If his guess was correct, then this universe he had traversed into was far too lively.

The first beings that came to mind were the Ōtsutsuki clan—who love to plant God Trees on alien planets, devour all life force, and harvest Chakra Fruits.

Then came the Saiyans!

A race that specializes in conquest, plunder, and slaughter across planets—before selling them off to other aliens. That was basically the textbook behavior of cosmic pirates.

"So basically, if I resolve the internal conflicts on Starfish World and just go back to being a shut-in, it's entirely possible that one day, I'll look up and see a few white, spherical spaceships descending from the sky?"

In that instant, Imu was genuinely frightened by his own speculation.

Sure, his strength might be unmatched in this world.

But when thrown into the multiverse of anime worlds… who knew where he would stand?

He took a deep breath and told himself silently, "No—I need to calm down. These are just guesses. The truth is still uncertain!"

But how could he verify it?

His gaze shifted toward the line that read: "Can open two random small-scale Dimensional Gates."

If he happened to connect to a planet with a civilization, wouldn't simply stepping through and checking things out do the trick?

Under the curious gaze of several nearby maids, Imu went back inside, then headed to his inner bedroom and closed the door behind him.

Standing before the bed, he rubbed his chin in thought.

What comes after opening the Dimensional Gate?

Typically, two main paths would follow.

The first: venture into the unknown world alone, explore, and return to Starfish World with whatever he gains.

The second: approach it as an organization—send in professional scouts first, wait for them to bring back detailed reports, then follow up with large-scale deployment and engage in either cooperation or war with the powers of the other world.

Each option had its pros and cons.

The first came with high risk and required secrecy. Whether that was good or bad was hard to say, and it would almost certainly mean underutilizing the new world. Still, it could alleviate the boredom of staying cooped up.

The second was the opposite: far more efficient but would require making the existence of the Dimensional Gate public. And the first people who would need to be informed… would be the Five Elders.

"Well, I can just open one gate first. Whether I actually go through or not—I'll decide later!"

A grin crept onto Imu's face in excitement. Just as he was about to act, he suddenly paused.

Wait a second—what if some supreme being on the other side notices the gate the moment it opens?

Logically speaking, since this was a cheat ability granted by transmigration, it should be ridiculously powerful. But the Starmap wasn't a 'system' after all, so maybe it wasn't that overpowered.

For a while, Imu hesitated again.

In the end, curiosity won out over caution. Carefully, he confirmed the selection of 'Open First Random Small-Scale Dimensional Gate', and fixed the gate's position five meters in front of him.

[WMMM—]

The next moment, a burst of starlight flashed, followed by a rotating stellar cluster that rapidly expanded—forming a rectangular gate three meters tall and two meters wide.

"What's this…?"

Just then, the specks of starlight on the surface of the rectangular gate gradually faded, revealing a vivid scene of green hills and blue skies.

"So that's how it works… it really is a teleportation gate. But it doesn't seem like the wind or scent can pass through." Imu examined the world within the gate and murmured softly.

At the same time, one of the planets in a certain star system on the Starmap lit up with a golden glow.
