"It is not an old film week," Yang Ruoqian said.
Director Chen nodded. "Correct."
"There is no week."
"Only seven calendar days."
Yang Ruoqian paused.
That answer was factually correct in the worst possible way.
"There is no theme," he continued.
"Only several old films placed in ordinary morning slots."
"There is no event."
"Only normal screenings."
"There is no name."
"The counter sheet has no heading."
Yang Ruoqian stared at Director Chen and realized the old film week had learned to exist without any of the things he could ban.
This was a highly advanced form of disaster.
He picked up the schedule and examined it line by line. The films were commercially weak. That part remained comforting. The morning slots were low-margin. Also good. There were no celebrities, no guests, no talk sessions, no merchandise, and no bundled tickets. Excellent.
The problem was that the absence of all these things made the schedule look clean.
