Chapter 787 - The Cart Was Not A Favor

The thin paper opened into a service hall where the lights had been changed one bulb at a time.

Three were white. Two were yellow. One flickered whenever the cart wheel squealed, like the ceiling had decided to complain only when something already sounded broken.

Ty stood behind the old cart with both hands on the padded handle. The towel around the metal had gone stiff from old cleaner. It rasped against his palm bone when the memory tried to make him push.

A warning slip stayed pinned to his chest.

Half release handler. Return to storage duty only.

The words sat there like someone had turned a person into a misplaced tool and then worried the tool might wander.

Zunoder stood beside the cart in Ty's old body, dry and clean inside a memory that smelled like mop water. "This is better for me because repeated correction, repeated return, and repeated task all help prove function."
