The first stroke on the glass cut Yun-Jin's wrist.
No edge touched her. The case body's finger only dragged through powder on the inside of the panel, shaping a line too deliberate to be random. The pink anchor tightened around her wrist, and a narrow wound opened under the strand.
JJ caught her harder by the belt and pulled.
"That mark hurt you through the anchor just now," JJ said. "Tell me how to make it stop before I break the glass."
"Breaking the glass helps the body inside too much," Blue said.
"I asked for a useful answer, not a depressing one."
Yun-Jin looked at the finger on the glass.
"It is starting my name through the anchor," she said. "Leave the rest of it out of your mouth."
Ty's skull turned toward her and the strand.
"If a name becomes a handle, the receiver pulls the person before the body."
"That was the short version I was avoiding," Blue said.
The case body's finger dragged a second line.
